Chapter 77: Making Empty Promises to Wanda
Chapter 77: Making Empty Promises to Wanda (Seeking First Subscription)
"Wanda, is there something you need?"
Although limited by his field of vision, he couldn't see her face, but that didn't stop Russell from recognizing Wanda as the person in front of him.
"Oh, no. Should I call you Master Wanda?"
"I spend relatively little time in Kamar-Taj and often don't pay attention to this, please forgive me."
In Kamar-Taj, people generally address each other as "Master So-and-so," and it's rare to call each other by their first names.
Only Russell, being ignorant and incompetent, frequently makes mistakes.
"It's alright, Master Russell, you can just call me Wanda."
Wanda shook her head, not caring about the form of address.
"Then you can just call me Russell."
Russell lay back in his rocking chair and said casually.
As he spoke, Russell drew a circle with his hand, opening a portal to the seventh floor of the bookstore, from which he retrieved a rocking chair.
He put it aside, gesturing for Wanda to sit down and talk.
"What's the matter? Let's sit down and talk. Standing is tiring."
Russell showed no intention of getting up.
Because of his memories from before he traveled through time, he subconsciously treated Wanda as an acquaintance.
With increased strength, they became more casual in their speech and actions.
He forgot that this was his second meeting with Wanda.
Wanda obediently sat in the rocking chair and lay down like Russell.
Although Russell acted a bit too familiar, she didn't mind.
Wanda turned her head to look at Russell:
"Russell, thank you for saving me and Pietro last time."
"Um."
Russell responded by humming through his nose.
Seeing that Russell didn't react, Wanda continued:
"Russell, I have a few questions for you."
Russell closed his eyes and pretended to sleep, speaking in a lazy tone.
"Ask away."
"Why do you know about Pietro and me when we were kids? Why did you save us?"
Wanda got straight to the point, asking the two questions that had been bothering her for a long time.
"Didn't the Ancient One explain to you that I saw your talent and wanted you to succeed me as the Sorcerer Supreme in the future?"
Russell remained lying down, offering a casual explanation.
Wanda pressed on, "But that doesn't explain how you knew about us."
"The Time Stone. The holder of the Time Stone can know the past, present, and future."
Bertrand Russell unleashed his masterful deception.
"I saw you as a powerful mage in one of my futures. That's why I've been paying attention."
The real reason, of course, is that Russell knew what had happened on Earth-199999 and was aware of Wanda's potential.
But he didn't want to say that, because it would involve more things and be too complicated to explain.
Is that really the case?
Wanda's voice was hesitant; she felt something was off.
"But isn't the Time Stone with the Ancient One, and she's keeping it safe?"
"I have one too."
Russell flipped his hand and took out the Time Stone.
Wanda's gaze was drawn to the Time Stone, and she stared at it for a long time, unable to look away.
"Want to play? If you want to play, then take it and play."
Russell casually tossed the gem in his hand to Wanda.
Seeing Wanda catching it somewhat clumsily, Russell reminded her:
"This Time Stone is a fake. It won't activate its power unless you actively input energy into it."
"But if it's a real Time Stone, be careful not to touch it directly with your body."
Wanda gently pinched the Time Stone and examined it closely.
Suddenly, Wanda asked:
"Russell, can I use the Time Stone to reverse time and resurrect my parents?"
Her voice was filled with anticipation and trepidation.
"no."
Russell rejected it outright.
"Why?!"
Wanda asked excitedly.
Russell explained:
"Your parents' souls have most likely left this universe and entered the hell dimension."
"The Time Stone's power is limited to a single universe; it cannot bring things from the Hell Dimension back to the real universe."
Wanda's expression darkened.
She was as disappointed as she had hoped.
"However, it's not impossible to bring your parents back to life."
Russell decided to make a big promise to Wanda, a member of his Sorcerer Supreme Order.
To inspire her fighting spirit, she should study magic diligently and strive for a seamless transition to the position of Supreme Mage in the future.
"If you are powerful enough, you can go into hell and take back your parents' souls."
After thinking for a moment, Russell added.
"I took back the souls of Tony's parents and Matt's soul."
"Tony Stark?"
Wanda's expression turned somewhat strange when the name was mentioned.
Russell was also puzzled as to why Wanda's expression wasn't one of hatred.
"Don't you and Pietro hate him? He designed the Stark Missiles that destroyed your home and killed your parents."
"Russell, how do you even know this?"
Wanda was puzzled, and then explained.
"That was true before, but we've already explained it clearly."
"Although he was the designer of the missile, he was not responsible for its sales, nor was he the one who launched it."
"The reason Stark Industries' missiles fell into the hands of terrorists was because someone within the company betrayed him and secretly smuggled them."
"In the end, he also apologized to me and Pietro."
"that's all?"
Russell asked curiously.
"Otherwise what?"
Wanda countered with a question.
Russell felt that the explanation process was not so simple.
But since Wanda didn't elaborate, Russell didn't need to press her for details.
The members of the Supreme Masters' group should love each other like a family.
"Russell, you just said that you snatched the souls of Tony's parents and Matt back from hell."
"But why haven't they been resurrected?"
Wanda steered the conversation back on track; all she wanted now was to know how to resurrect her parents.
"Yeah, Russell, why wasn't Matt fully resurrected? He can only move as a spirit."
Before anyone knew it, Eileen and Matt arrived and joined the conversation.
Russell first took out two more rocking chairs, and then explained:
"Because of the physical body. The soul and the physical body are strongly connected."
"Not just any physical body can perfectly match a soul."
"If the body and soul are not in harmony, not only will they fail to nourish the soul, but they will also harm it."
After explaining, Russell greeted Matt.
Both of them looked somewhat embarrassed.
Russell spoke first, expressing his apologies:
"I'm sorry, Matt. I didn't expect this would cause you to lose your physical body and almost die."
Matt smiled, unconcerned, and said:
"It's okay, we're all brothers."
"It's also my fault for being too careless and not pressing the pager you gave me to call for help in time."
"My soul is in pretty good condition now, and I can see things again."
After saying that, Matt smiled apologetically and continued:
"I haven't even thanked you yet for risking your life to save my soul."
Matt believed that he was killed instantly because of his carelessness and failed to press the pager to call for help, which is why Russell had to venture into hell and risk his life to save his soul.
He heard from Eileen that Russell didn't return for almost three days after he left.
When I came back, the way I smelled was a bit off, kind of scary.
"Fight to the death?"
Russell's expression was strange, and he guessed that Matt seemed to have misunderstood something.
"It's okay, we're all brothers."
"A mere primordial demon, a former ruler of hell, not worth mentioning."
"Russell, how does one obtain a physical body that matches their soul?"
Wanda interrupted Russell and Matt's reminiscing and continued to press for answers.
Upon hearing this question, Matt also looked at Russell.
Although he said it was fine this way.
But how can this soul state, unable to touch a physical body or communicate with ordinary people, possibly be good?
"Two methods: cloning technology on the scientific side and altering reality on the magical side."
Russell didn't keep anyone in suspense and gave the answer directly.
"clone?!"
Everyone's attention was drawn to this familiar word.
Wanda asked疑惑地问道, "Then why doesn't Tony Stark clone his parents' bodies?"
Russell shrugged:
"Who knows? Maybe he tried it and found other problems. Cloning technology is very complicated."
"However, I do know where to find mature cloning technology, and I'm currently looking for them."
"Who?"
"The Heirs Family, a family in the multiverse."
"The Heir Family? What kind of family is that?" Eileen asked, puzzled.
As for the multiverse, she had gained a basic understanding of it after spending several days in Kamar-Taj.
"Does it matter?" Russell asked rhetorically.
Eileen was speechless.
Matt asked worriedly, "Russell, won't this heir family be difficult to deal with?"
Judging from Russell's tone, he knew that he couldn't possibly borrow the cloning technology of the Heirs' family by simply coming to them and having a good talk.
Russell most likely intended to seize it by force.
Matt didn't want to drag Russell into facing a powerful force that spanned the multiverse because of himself.
"Don't worry, I'm 98% sure."
Russell smiled confidently.
"Their strength lies in absorbing life energy. Coincidentally, my strength is also in absorbing energy. I am their natural counter."
As the group talked, a portal sparkling with embers opened.
The Ancient One emerged from within.
Wanda, Matt, and Erin: "The Ancient One."
Russell: "The Master."
Gu Yi smiled and nodded, responding to each of their greetings.
"Master, aren't Thor and Loki coming back with you?" Russell asked.
Although Russell didn't greet Thor and Loki when they were on Sakura Island, it doesn't mean he didn't see them.
"They stayed at S.H.I.E.L.D. and were treated to hospitality," the Ancient One replied with a smile.
S.H.I.E.L.D., Space Carrier.
"Director Fury, the Council has decided to change S.H.I.E.L.D. from a combat force to a rescue force."
"Before the arrival of the Council's combined fleet, it is not permitted to destroy the battle site, nor is it permitted to salvage the remains of Takamagahara and the Land of Night."
"Yes, Director Alexander."
Nick Fury disconnected, his face grim, but he still had to relay the order.
Moments later, the space carrier was decommissioned.
Nick Fury was in the command center, sighing deeply.
He piloted a space carrier loaded with weapons, leading a fully armed Avengers team.
Vigorous and arrogant.
They want to accomplish something big in the battle between Kamar-Taj and the Sakura Island pantheon.
Never thought.
The last shot was not fired, not a single cannon shot was fired.
The war is over.
His space carrier and the combat personnel on board were transformed from a combat formation into a rescue formation.
As for salvaging the ruins of Takamagahara and the Night Kingdom after Russell's conquest?
Of course, such a good thing wouldn't fall to S.H.I.E.L.D.
