Hogwarts: Who made her a professor?

Chapter 457 The Soul-Stealing Curse Appears Again

Chapter 457 The Soul-Stealing Curse Appears Again

Perhaps the resentment from the Defense Against the Dark Arts class was too deep, because before Halloween even arrived, the accident happened.

On a stormy night in late September, Belvina was teaching her students in the classroom, leading the NEWT class in practicing the Silent Spell.

A silent spell is a spell that is used without being spoken aloud, or even without being spoken at all. Hogwarts requires students to practice using silent spells starting in their sixth year.

Mastering the silent spell is extremely difficult, requiring a great deal of attention and concentration. Otherwise, you'll end up like a student practicing, your face turning bright red, like a monkey's bottom.

Belvina patiently repeated the key points of the silent spell over and over again, but the students still couldn't get it right. They tried to concentrate, but in the end, they were struggling with themselves, and their faces turned even redder.

Just then, an owl struggled through the gale and landed shakily outside the Defense Against the Dark Arts classroom window.

Belvina saw the owl that was being battered by the strong wind. She went over and opened the window, and a blast of cold air rushed into the classroom.

Next, Belvina untied the letter from the owl's leg; the envelope was still sealed with the sealing wax of the Department of Magical Law Enforcement.

The letter from London contained only one sentence: Tonight, the Department of Mysteries was broken into again.

Although Belvina was waiting for an unexpected event, tonight's event was clearly not what she wanted, and the intrusion into the Department of Mysteries would not affect Scotland for the time being.

"Everyone," Belvina said, putting down the letter and clapping her hands.

The students in the classroom immediately stopped arguing with themselves and all looked at Belvina.

"I have to leave temporarily. You can practice on your own for the rest of the time. Remember the key points of the silent incantation: focus and concentration."

After saying that, Belvina picked up her coat and walked out of the classroom. As the head of the Department of Magical Law Enforcement and a member of the Order of the Phoenix, she couldn't possibly not go to the Department of Mysteries.

As Belvina's footsteps faded into the distance down the corridor, the students in the classroom immediately began to give up, with only a few still persisting in practicing the Silent Spell, continuing to challenge themselves.

Perhaps because of the precedent set by Eric Munch, the Ministry of Magic's response tonight appeared calm and unhurried. The strikers and law enforcement teams dispersed in an orderly manner, either guarding the entrances and exits or checking each floor.

Not only did the Department of Magical Law Enforcement remain calm, but the silent members of the Department of Mysteries also showed composure. Broderick Bode even waited in the main hall for the arrival of the Director of the Department of Magical Law Enforcement.

When Belvina appeared in the main hall, Bode, looking distressed and depressed, immediately went to greet her.

"Miss Black," Bode said dejectedly, "although someone broke into the Department of Mysteries again tonight, this person didn't even get inside."

Hearing Broderick Bode's words, Belvina felt a sense of relief; it seemed she wouldn't have to stay up all night, and the unexpected situation would soon be over.

In the elevator leading to the Department of Mysteries, Belvina even had the leisure to joke with the Silence beside her, saying, "Broderick, if you really don't like the Department of Mysteries, why don't you apply for a transfer?"

"Miss Black, you're wrong. I really enjoy working for the Bureau of Mysteries. Nothing is more enjoyable than uncovering secrets."

As he said this, Broderick Bode still looked worried and depressed, like someone suffering from Jade Syndrome.

He continued, "I just can't get used to the secrecy of the Secret Affairs Department. It's highly confidential, and you can't say anything. Do you understand that kind of pain?"

Broderick Bode is a talkative man, but the work of the Department of Mysteries is highly confidential, so Bode has to keep his mouth shut to prevent himself from accidentally letting something slip.

For a chatterbox, the pain of not being able to talk much is no less than that of the Cruciatus Curse, one of the Unforgivable Curses.

Belvina wasn't a chatterbox, so she couldn't empathize with him, and it was already kind of her not to gloat.

Before long, the elevator stopped at the Department of Mysterious Affairs on the ninth floor. The two walked quickly down the long corridor, through the wildly spinning black door, and into the non-classified administrative area.

The person who broke into the Department of Mysteries tonight was a bumbling thief. Unlike Eric Munch, he didn't know anything about the Department of Mysteries and stumbled into the administrative district by mistake, only to be apprehended on the spot by the guards on duty.

When Belvina entered the administrative office area and saw the intruder, who was tied to a chair by a guard and unconscious, she was visibly taken aback.

The intruder, tied to a chair and hanging his head, had a head of messy, straw-like hair and a square face that looked very righteous.

"Are you sure this person is an intruder?" Belvina asked Bode. "And not a misunderstanding? Like, accidentally wandering in or something like that?"

"Absolutely certain," Bode said firmly. "This guy's acting suspiciously, he's definitely here to steal the prophecy too—"

—

Broderick Bode quickly covered his mouth. Although it was no secret that someone had broken into the Department of Mysteries, the reason for the break-in was not made public.

At that moment, Saul Crocker walked into the administrative district. He first glanced at the intruders of the night, then looked at Belvina and saw the undisguised confusion on her face.

"Belvina, do you know him?" Saul Crocker pointed at the intruder with a righteous expression. "The look on your face tells me you know him."

Belvina nodded; she not only recognized the intruder from tonight, but also knew their home address.

The wizard with straw-like hair is Stoddill Bodmore, 38 years old, who lives at 2 Gold Chain Park in Clapham.

Most importantly, Stoddill Podmore is a member of the Order of the Phoenix, and he joined the Order more than a decade ago.

When Dumbledore reassembled the Order of the Phoenix, Podmor was among the first to respond.

Belvina pulled Thor Crocker aside and whispered to him, "Not only do I know him, but Professor Dumbledore is also very familiar with him. Normally, this man couldn't possibly force his way into the Department of Mysteries."

The two leaders were whispering to each other, and Broderick Bode, standing nearby, pricked up his ears, curious about their secret conversation.

Saul Crook glanced at the still unconscious Stogwie Podmore and whispered to Belvina, "You said Dumbledore was very familiar with him, and that he couldn't possibly have broken into the Department of Mysteries. You're not trying to tell me—"

"That's right." Belvina nodded. "Just as you think. Logically speaking, it's impossible for him to steal the Prophecy Orb."

Saul Crocker agreed with Belvina; the Order of the Phoenix had no reason to steal the Prophecy Orb, and protecting it was more appropriate.

“There’s something wrong here. Could it be like Eric Munch?” Saul Krock asked. “What’s his name?” Krock pointed to Podmore.

"Stoj Podmore," Belvina replied. "I suspect so, but I can't be sure. We still need to wake him up."

Saul Crocker nodded and then asked, "Does Professor Dumbledore know about this?"

"I don't know." Belvina shook her head. "Professor Dumbledore isn't a prophet. How would he know that Podmor would be at the Department of Mysteries?"

While Belvina and Sol Crocker were whispering to each other, Broderick Bode was extremely anxious; he desperately wanted to know what the two were talking about.

"Broderick".

Saul Krock turned to Bode and said.

Broderick Bode immediately became excited, thinking that Kroc was going to share a secret with him.

"Let's wake this person up first. Belvina is here, so let's interrogate her and see if we can get any crucial information out of her."

Upon hearing Saul Crook's command, Broderick Bode immediately reverted to his sorrowful, jade-sick appearance, though he still drew his wand and aimed it at the unconscious Boldmore.

Soon, Störgy Podmor opened his eyes, his gaze somewhat unfocused, and his square face filled with confusion.

Podmore looked at Bodde in front of him with a bewildered expression. He first found himself being pointed at by a wand, and then found himself tied to a chair. The bewilderment on Podmore's face deepened.

"I am Broderick Bodle from the Ministry of Magic. I am arresting you for trespassing. Immediately state your name, age, and home address!"

Broderick Bode still pointed his wand at Stoddill Podmore.

Faced with Bodmore's stern questioning, Bodmore did not panic. Instead of answering the question, he began to observe his surroundings.

Then, Stöger Podmore saw Belvina with her arms crossed over her chest, and his unfocused gaze immediately became focused, like a drowning person grasping at a straw.

"Belvina! Help me!"

Störgy Podmor shouted at Belvina as he began to struggle, trying to break free of the ropes binding him.

At this moment, Broderick Bode also looked at Belvina. Bode was very curious that the intruder tonight actually knew the director of the Department of Magical Law Enforcement!

Sol Krock also looked over, and he handed the initiative to Belvina.

Belvina merely raised an eyebrow and did not respond to Podmore's plea for help.
