Hogwarts: Who made her a professor?

Chapter 462 Halloween Eve

Chapter 462 Halloween Eve

The last rays of autumn sunshine did not last long, and the sky over Hogwarts turned gray again.

Dark clouds loomed, a strong wind blew, followed by rumbling thunder and a torrential downpour.

After a relentless onslaught of storms and torrential rain, the gloomy, damp month of October was finally coming to an end, and the unpleasant smell of roasted pumpkins began to waft through the castle once again.

Based on years of experience, nothing unexpected is likely to happen on Halloween Eve, so from the moment Belvina opened her eyes in the morning, she was prepared for the unexpected.

To use a popular phrase: allow anything to happen.

Belvina was mentally and physically prepared, and she was able to accept whatever unexpected things might happen today.

However, what Belvina didn't expect was that the unexpected happened on Halloween Eve, and all her mental preparations were in vain.

The students stayed inside the castle all day, and no matter how much the torrential rain pounded against the windows outside, it couldn't dampen their enthusiasm for causing trouble.

Someone dressed as a ghost waits around the corner in the hallway, then jumps out to scare passersby; someone will take the Weasley twins' fast-acting truancy candy in front of unsuspecting students, then stage a blood spurt in public—

In short, Halloween Eve in 1995 was a very lively time for Hogwarts students, with everyone immersed in the festive atmosphere, except for Belvina, who allowed everything to happen.

In the evening, a sumptuous dinner brought the festive atmosphere to its peak. Belvina endured the pungent smell of pumpkin and ate her dinner with a bland taste.

Halfway through the banquet, no one replicated Quirinas Quirrell's actions in 1991, and the Halloween party was not interrupted by the trolls.

After the dinner, the students dispersed, and Mrs. Lorris of Filch did not suffer the same fate as in 1992.

The students returned to the common room chatting and laughing, while the Gryffindor dorm supervisor was still on duty, though her face was flushed from drinking again.

And so, the eve of Halloween in 1995 ended in nothingness; nothing unexpected happened except for this one day.

Even after changing into her pajamas and lying in bed, Belvina still couldn't accept that Halloween Eve had ended so uneventfully.

You promised to allow anything to happen, but why don't you just let it happen!

Filled with resentment towards the mundane, Belvina drifted off to sleep.

Belvina didn't know how long she had slept; she only felt that she had just fallen asleep when she was woken up by a knocking on the door.

Belvina got out of bed, slipped on her slippers, walked to the door, opened it, and a rolled-up parchment slowly unfolded before her.

The parchment had thin, slightly crooked handwriting that read: Principal's Office, come immediately.

Belvina frowned in confusion, unable to think of any reason why Dumbledore would come to her in the middle of the night. It couldn't be to retaliate for her previous "staying up all night" tactic!

Despite her doubts, Belvina grabbed the black lace-trimmed morning gown, wrapped it around her body, and walked out of the lounge.

The corridor was deserted at midnight, dimly lit, chilly, and rain pounded against the windows.

As Belvina ascended the spiral staircase leading to the headmaster's office, Harry's rebellious clamor immediately reached her ears.

"I already said I'm fine!" the rebellious scarred boy shouted hoarsely.

Belvina quickened her pace and pushed open the office door.

In the circular headmaster's office, Professor McGonagall looked astonished, seemingly unable to understand why Harry was throwing a tantrum.

Ron and Hermione, standing to the side, shrank back, seemingly frightened by Harry's outburst.

Dumbledore, however, sat calmly at the back of his office, neither hurried nor annoyed.

"What's going on?" Belvina walked into the office and noticed that Professor McGonagall was wearing a dressing gown just like herself, while Harry, the other two were dressed in their usual attire.

As if she had found a pillar of support, Hermione immediately spoke up, saying, "Professor Black, Harry's scar is hurting again, and more than once!"

Although the noisy Harry shut his mouth, he still glared at Hermione with displeasure.

Harry didn't want to spread the word that the scar on his forehead was starting to hurt again; it made him feel very weak and vulnerable.

With Belvina around, Hermione wasn't afraid of Harry's glare at all. She spilled the beans about what happened that night, without hiding anything from Harry.

Since the start of the new school year, Harry has felt the burning pain of his scar more than once, and a few times the pain even made him roll around in bed (according to Ron's addition), but Harry insisted on hiding it and not telling anyone.

Not only did they not tell Dumbledore and McGonagall at school, but even Sirius Black didn't know that Harry's scar was hurting again.

If Harry hadn't been rushing to finish his homework in the common room tonight, if his scar hadn't been hurting so badly that he was sweating profusely again, and if Hermione hadn't tipped him off, Harry probably would have continued to hide it.

Hermione, who tipped them off, went to Professor McGonagall, who in turn went to Dumbledore, and finally Dumbledore informed Belvina.

As Hermione continued her narration, Belvina's brows furrowed more and more tightly, her furrowed brows resembling an untangled ball of yarn.

Harry felt pain in his scars every time after failing to infiltrate the Department of Mysteries, presumably because Voldemort's emotional fluctuations affected him.

Thinking of this, Belvina looked up at the very charming Dumbledore; the old man seemed to have a particular fondness for purple.

Sitting calmly behind his desk, Dumbledore nodded. He shared the same thought as Belvina: Harry's scars always ached intensely after invading the Department of Mysteries.

There was only one exception: when the Ministry of Magic publicly revealed the names of Lucius Malfoy and others and issued arrest warrants for them.

"Harry," Dumbledore began slowly, his calm tone possessing a reassuring quality, "is tonight any different from the previous times?"

Dumbledore's question was exactly what Belvina wanted to ask.

Under the control of the Death Eaters' Killing Curse, three people attempted to break into the Department of Mysteries. Each time they failed, Harry's scar would ache again.

It has been some time since the third failed invasion, and Harry's scars have ached once more. What is it about tonight that Voldemort's emotions are fluctuating so drastically?

Harry's sweaty face showed a conflicted expression. He definitely had to answer Dumbledore's question, but he didn't want to appear weak. Harry wanted to become a real man; only then could he join the Order of the Phoenix and fight Voldemort.

"I'm asking you a question!" Belvina interrupted. "Just say what you have to say. Stop beating around the bush like a man."

She looked at Harry, who had a conflicted expression, with a stern gaze and tone, almost as if she was about to physically punish the brat.

Belvina continued, "You think you're a strong man just because you don't say anything? Nonsense! You're just putting on a brave face!"

Although she is unmarried and childless, she has extensive experience in raising children and works in the education industry. She can see right through Harry Potter's little head.

"I had a dream—" Harry dropped his feigned strength and began awkwardly, "I dreamt of a quiet corridor without windows, and at the end of the corridor was a door." "I remember you've never been to the Ministry of Magic, have you?" Belvina interrupted Harry, "Never."

Harry nodded and said, "I've never been to the Ministry of Magic. You mean, the place I dreamt about was a corridor in the Ministry of Magic?"

Although their thinking is still immature and naive, their reaction speed is quite fast.

"The Department of Mysteries," Dumbledore said. "The corridor outside the Department of Mysteries matches Harry's description."

Upon hearing the Department of Mysteries, Ron looked bewildered. His father and brothers both worked for the Ministry of Magic, so Ron naturally knew about the Department of Mysteries, but he couldn't understand why Harry would dream about it.

Unlike Ron's bewilderment, Hermione reacted quickly, immediately connecting the news in the newspaper to the illegal intrusion incident at the beginning of the school year and this recent incident.

Hermione didn't know that Stoddill Podmore had also broken into the Department of Mysteries because Belvina had covered it up and it hadn't been published.

Professor McGonagall, of course, knew about the Department of Mysteries and the Prophecy Orb, but she didn't expect Harry to dream about it.

"Should I continue?" Harry asked tentatively.

When Belvina appeared in the headmaster's office, Harry, who had been in a daze, came to his senses, and his teenage rebellion vanished.

Although Professor McGonagall was more serious, she was far less intimidating to Harry than Belvina, who had given him a good beating over half the summer.

"Continue," Dumbledore said. He didn't mind Harry's temper tantrum because he knew perfectly well why Harry was angry.

This summer, Dumbledore cut off Harry's connection with the wizarding world, leaving Harry to wander alone on Privet Drive for most of the summer, hiding under the window every day to eavesdrop on Muggle television news and rummaging through dumpsters for old Muggle newspapers that others didn't want.

If it weren't for the bloodshed at Magnolia Road amusement park, Harry would probably have spent his summer vacation at the Dursleys' house.

After finally returning to Grimmauld Place from Privet Drive, Harry thought he could finally participate in the fight against Voldemort, but the Order of the Phoenix did not accept minors, and Harry was excluded once again.

Being cut off from contact at Privet Drive and excluded from Grimmauld Place sparked Harry's intense resentment. Coupled with his rebellious phase and Voldemort's influence, Harry's temper became increasingly volatile and his personality increasingly irritable.

In addition, Cedric and Cho Chang's inseparable relationship was also a huge source of distress for Harry, as heartbreak is always a source of great distress.

Especially for a scarred young man just beginning to experience romantic feelings.

It's fair to say that Harry has been teetering on the edge of losing his temper for the past two or three months, which led to tonight's outburst.
