Elf: Who told him to be an investigator!

Chapter 10 Miss Officer Jenny

This was the first time Ze Shu had met Miss Officer Jenny.

Riding a black and white police motorcycle, a bright-eyed Growlithe dog sat on the small seat, its nose twitching occasionally, alert to everything.

Wearing a police uniform, with her gray-green hair tucked into her police hat, Officer Jenny saw Zeju surrounded by Pokémon as soon as she arrived.

And two adult men who were tied to the ground, wanting to cry out for their parents but not daring to make a sound.

Needless to say, just by looking at their gray-purple uniforms, Officer Jenny could tell they were Pokémon hunters, and organized ones at that, not the scattered, individual Pokémon hunters.

Realizing this, Officer Jenny's eyes flashed with surprise, and she couldn't help but ask Ze Shu, "Did you subdue them...? Were you injured?"

Ze Shu nodded: "Yes, I'm not injured."

After Officer Jenny used police handcuffs to handcuff the two Pokémon hunters, Sawaki came to her side carrying a round, black sphere that was wrapped up.

Miss Officer Jenny asked in confusion, "What is this?"

Ze Shu: "It's a bomb."

"What…" Officer Jenny was startled, then pointed at the Pokémon hunters she had arrested and asked quickly, "Was it found on them?"

She noticed obvious signs that they had been searched.

Ze Shu nodded without saying anything more.

Officer Jenny's eyes turned serious as she carefully took the bomb: "This is no small matter. Thank you very much for your contribution. Leave the rest to us."

Soon, Officer Jenny returned home, and Zeki hitched a ride with her, bidding farewell to Bubble Squirrel and the Pokémon, and arrived at Sandstone Town, which he had previously envisioned.

Because it was the middle of the night, he didn't get a good look at the town. The police station gave Ze Shu a small room to rest in.

……

……

the next day.

As the first rays of morning sunlight streamed in, Ze Shu gently brushed away the little hand that Eevee had placed on his face and slowly opened his sleepy eyes.

This was the most comfortable sleep I've had since leaving the Masked Base. Back at the Masked Base, training would begin before dawn.

"Buee~"

Because of Ze Shu's movements, Ice Eevee murmured a soft, sleepy sound, then rubbed its face against him, still wanting to sleep.

But after Ze Shu rubbed its face for a while, it lost its sleepiness and opened its still misty eyes, looking somewhat dazed.

Picking up Eevee, Zeshu walked out of the small room prepared for him at the police station.

The entire police station was bustling with people, seemingly very busy. Only the Growlithe dog, sitting obediently at the station entrance, was lounging with its tongue lolling out contentedly.

It seems to be the same one from yesterday.

Ze Shu walked over and wanted to rub it. The Growlithe seemed to recognize him and stretched out its head with a grin, allowing him to rub its head as he wished.

The warm, thick fur feels wonderful, especially the thick patch of fur around the chest.

Ze Shu loved it so much that he couldn't put it down, and the Growlithe dog also squinted its eyes and panted comfortably.

Until she heard a voice calling from behind: "Growlithe, and... Sawaki, good morning."

Turning his head, he recognized Officer Jenny from yesterday, as she called out his name. However, noticing the dark circles under her eyes, Ze Shu couldn't help but pause, "Officer Jenny, did you not sleep all night?"

"It's about that bomb." Officer Jenny rubbed her forehead helplessly. "Speaking of which, I have to thank you for this, Ze Shu. After a night of questioning, we've got a preliminary understanding of the bomb."

"As for deeper investigations, those would require professional investigators or international police."

"If it weren't for you, Dr. Yamanashi's research institute would probably have been blown up this morning... Dr. Yamanashi rushed here to find out more after learning about this..."

Ze Shu: "..."

One can imagine Dr. Yamanashi's expression.

"Next," Officer Jenny said, "could you please give a statement about what happened yesterday, Ze Shu?"

"Of course." Ze Shu paused for a moment, looking at Officer Jenny's dark circles. "But Officer Jenny, don't you need to rest...?"

"No need," Officer Jenny smiled. "I'm used to it."

Ze Shu: "..."

Arriving at a small room in the police station, Officer Jenny took out her notebook, and Ze Shu recounted what had happened yesterday: "...I saw the campfire and the tied-up Pokémon, so I went up and defeated them, and then called the police."

"Wait a minute." Officer Jenny looked at Zeju's still somewhat youthful face. "We understand that these two Pokémon Hunters are quite well-known in the Pokémon Hunter world. Could you tell us exactly how they defeated them?"

Last night, Officer Jenny didn't think much about Zeki admitting to defeating the Pokémon hunters, but now that they've been captured and their identities are gradually being revealed, it turns out that the two Pokémon hunters were actually quite strong and very shrewd.

Otherwise, they wouldn't have been the ones to bomb Dr. Yamanashi's research institute.

But judging from Ze Shu's tone, he seemed quite relaxed?

"Hmm..." Ze Shu thought for a moment, "First, I'll use the Freeze Ray to ambush them, then I'll ambush them again, then the Arbok on the other side will ambush me, and then I'll use the Arbok to knock them out."

Officer Jenny: "..."

No.

Why couldn't she understand the second half?

"What does 'knocked them out with the old man' mean...?"

"Hmm... so we just grabbed the old man's tail, first like this, then like that, and finally like this..."

Ze Shu demonstrated it several times.

Miss Officer Jenny still couldn't imagine it.

All I could do was write down what Zeki said in my notebook with disbelief, and then verify it with the two Pokémon hunters later.

She then asked, "Ze Shu, are you a Pokémon Trainer who travels around?"

Ze Shu: "I think I am."

He paused for a moment, then asked seriously, "How do I get one without alliance credentials?"

Ze Shu couldn't help but feel a pang of sorrow: Uncle Liu was, after all, a dojo owner, yet after abducting them for more than five years, he couldn't even be bothered to issue them any identification.

Also.

If they needed to issue permits, then hundreds of children at the Masked Base would need them, making it too easy for the Alliance to investigate. So, it could be said that almost everyone in the Masked Legion is undocumented.

However, being an unregistered person isn't too unusual in the Pokémon world, which is why Zeki asked directly without any reservations.

"Hmm?" Officer Jenny replied without hesitation, "You could let your parents stay locally..."

She froze before she could finish speaking.

"What if your parents die?" Ze Shu then asked.

They simply fabricated a story about resentful parents who were "reclusive fanatics." Ze Shu had lived in the deep mountains and forests since he was a child. Although he was occasionally able to go to town to play, his careless resentful parents did not obtain any permits for him.

Later they died, and Zeki also encountered an accident and fell into the sea, but luckily drifted to Sinnoh.

"Well……"

Miss Officer Jenny paused for a moment, glanced at Ze Shu with a complicated look, and without asking any further questions, pulled over the computer next to her and asked Ze Shu to tell her some information and basic data about him.

"Your name."

"Ze Shu".

"age."

"Hmm...it should be around twelve or thirteen, no, let's fill in fifteen."

Officer Jenny silently wrote that she was thirteen years old.

After asking a few more questions, Ms. Officer Jenny compiled the information into a table and uploaded it. She left the room for a while and then returned with something that looked like an ID card, handing it to Ze Shu.

"Here's your ID card. Remember not to lose it. If you ever need anything, you can always come to me for help..."

Miss Officer Jenny spoke somewhat ramblingly.

Although she didn't quite believe Ze Shu's "background," Officer Jenny couldn't help but feel sorry for him as she looked at his feigned maturity.
