After finishing with the mandrake, the two returned to Bag End.

Meanwhile, Bilbo was already preparing dinner for the three of them.

Gandalf had already noticed the wand that Duy was using to cast the spell, and he was naturally interested in such a small and unique wand. He expressed his desire to see it.

Duy did not refuse, and he was also interested in Gandalf's staff.

Gandalf readily agreed, casually tossing his staff to Dui, and then carefully examining Dui's wand.

"What an ingenious combination, using magical wood for the staff... Hmm? Is this the heartwood of that old willow tree in the old forest?" Gandalf looked at Dui.

Dui nodded and explained, "The old willow tree invaded Stag Town. I confronted it head-on and finally defeated it by cutting it in half. Tom took the lower half back to the old forest and replanted it, while I took the heartwood from the upper half and made this wand."

Gandalf smiled and agreed, "That old willow tree does have a bad temper. When I went to the old forest to see Tom, it attacked me. It took me a lot of effort to get rid of it. It's just unlucky for it to run into you now."

Then he continued to examine the wand in his hand, his eyes seemingly able to see through it. "The core is a single hair? Hmm, no, it's two! And I can sense the presence of rivers and earth, from Lady Goldberry and Tom?" Gandalf looked at Duy in surprise.

Duy was equally surprised by Gandalf's insight. He nodded and replied, "It's a hair from Lady Goldberry and a beard from Tom."

"It seems that Lady Goldberry and Tom have high hopes for you!" Gandalf exclaimed upon hearing this, his opinion of Dui rising even higher.

"They are really good people!" Dui said sincerely. They were the couple that Dui liked the most, besides Bilbo.

Gandalf then took Duy's wand and waved it enthusiastically. To Duy's surprise, the wand reacted in Gandalf's hand, continuously spraying out colorful magical fireworks.

"Wow!" Bilbo and Dui stared wide-eyed at the dazzling fireworks, completely amazed.

Gandalf, like an old rascal finding a fun toy, shot lightning, wind, and fire from his wand before reluctantly putting it down and looking at Duy with his star-like blue eyes.

"Duir, your wand is a truly ingenious idea. It allows you to cast spells using only a simple combination of enchanted wood and hair. While the wand doesn't significantly amplify magic power, it's incredibly versatile and balanced. Anyone with magical potential can use it to cast spells. I think the god of craftsmen, Auril, will love it!"

Gandalf recognized that this wand-making technique was created and unique to Duy, and therefore admired Duy's wisdom even more.

"Uh, thank you for the compliment!" Duy felt a little guilty. He knew that the craftsmanship of the wand came from another world, and he felt unworthy of Gandalf's praise.

Gandalf, thinking he was embarrassed, continued, "Believe me, Duir, your wisdom and creativity deserve such praise! Your wand is very versatile, and you will be a guest of honor for many magical races, who will flock to you to obtain a wand made by you."

Duy was somewhat puzzled. "Gandalf, isn't that a bit too much of a compliment? Can't a staff be used to cast spells too?"

Gandalf pointed to the staff he handed to Dui. "Try it."

Dui grasped the staff, which was taller than him, with both hands with some doubt. The staff was made of an unknown vine and was spiral-shaped with a "flowering" appearance. Its surface was very rough, as if it had never been processed or polished.

Inside the "flowering" part at the top of the staff, there is a fist-sized blue gem that emits a faint blue light.

Dui tried to infuse it with magic, using it as a wand, and chanted the incantation: "Flash!"

In an instant, the magic power within Dui's body surged out uncontrollably, and the staff, like a greedy glutton, devoured Dui's magic power madly.

A massive amount of magic flowed into the gem at the top of the staff, and the gem instantly released an extremely dazzling light, comparable to the sun and moon. In an instant, the entire Bag Bottom Cave was turned into a white blur, and everyone was blinded by the dazzling light.

Dui felt like he was going blind, so he quickly released his staff to stop the magic output.

"Ha, Duir, you almost blinded this old man! You know, my old bones are practically rotting away, except for my eyes!" Gandalf lowered his hand from his eyes, wiped away his tears, and complained with a chuckle.

Dui didn't take Gandalf's joke to heart. This old man could ride a horse for days and nights and wield a longsword to hack and slash. It would be a joke to say that he was too old to move.

However, he still looked at Bilbo with concern, "Bilbo, how are you? Are you alright?" The poor hobbit was the slowest to react and was blinded by the bright light before he could close his eyes. He was now crying and his vision had not yet recovered.

"I, I'm fine, I'll be alright in a bit!" Bilbo said, blinking repeatedly, sounding a little dizzy.

Once he was sure he was alright, Dui turned his attention back to the staff.

Gandalf asked with a chuckle, "How are you feeling? Did you discover anything?"

Dui nodded with lingering fear. "This staff is powerful, but it consumes a lot of magic... and I've discovered that you need to use your mental power to control it when you use it?" He looked at Gandalf with a puzzled expression.

Gandalf nodded approvingly. "Indeed, using a staff requires not only powerful magic but also strong mental guidance and control, so the conditions for someone to use it are extremely demanding."

"More importantly, the crafting of the staff is extremely demanding." Gandalf pointed to the sapphire inlaid at the top of the staff. "The core of the staff is that magic gem, but magic gems are very rare. I obtained it from an elf friend so that I could create my own staff."

"Unlike your wand, which is why I say your wand is a genius creation! Because you give those who don't have strong magic the possibility of casting spells."

Upon hearing Gandalf's words, Duy suddenly realized that his wand-making skills were of such great value in Gandalf's eyes.

However, Dui was also very interested in the staff. Although using the staff consumed a lot of magic power and mental energy, the power it could unleash was incomparable to that of the wand. More importantly, the staff could influence and mobilize the magical elements in the surrounding environment to produce a wide range of magical effects.

You could say that wands and magic staffs go in two different directions: wands are broad and large, pursuing the powerful force of magic; magic staffs are refined and delicate, pursuing the ultimate changes in magic.

Dui is an adult and wants both.
