Chapter 59 Rescue of the Expeditionary Force

After doing all this, Dui used magic to seal and hide the treasure, intending to collect it when he returned.

Then they continued their search for the next troll cave.

However, this time, thanks to the True Knowledge Crystal, the two found it much easier to search.

"Let me see where the next troll is?" Dui held the True Knowledge Crystal, trying to concentrate his mind on it.

Gandalf also came over, looking expectantly at the light mist inside the crystal sphere.

In an instant, a scene appeared inside the crystal sphere.

However, the scene that appeared surprised both of them.

The image clearly shows Thorin and his companions, who are being tied to tree trunks by three ogres and placed over a fire to be roasted.

Bilbo, undeterred by the danger, displayed remarkable composure and wisdom. He constantly distracted the three trolls with words, claiming that the dwarves were sick and that eating them would make them ill, and exploiting the conflict between the three trolls by arguing about unequal distribution, thus stalling for time.

Seeing that the crystal orb showed Thorin and the others trapped, Gandalf didn't show any anxiety. Instead, he cheerfully commented, "It seems my choice was right. Bilbo is indeed the perfect 'Flying Thief.' Keeping him with the dwarves only makes his brilliance shine even brighter."

Dui was not as calm as Gandalf. He hadn't expected that even with himself as a variable, they would still encounter three trolls.

While lamenting the inertia of fate, he hurriedly urged, "Bilbo and the others look like they won't last much longer, Gandalf, let's hurry and go rescue them!"

The situation was urgent, so Gandalf and Duy rushed toward Thorin and his group without stopping. With the monitoring of the Wisdom Crystal, the two of them could see what was happening on Bilbo's side at any time.

Before long, the two arrived near Bilbo and his group.

Seeing the distant firelight and the figures of three enormous ogres, the two moved slowly and carefully hid behind a boulder.

"What should we do? Should we just go up and deal with them?" Dui asked in a low voice, turning his head to the side.

"Bilbo's provocation is very effective. Perhaps we won't even need to lift a finger; they can hold out until dawn," Gandalf said approvingly, looking at the three trolls arguing and nearly coming to blows in the distance.

"Of course, if you still have those potions from before, you can use them again to deal with them."

"I've run out of potions, and I don't have any left to deal with them," Dui said, shaking his head. He then looked at the dwarves tied to the logs with a hint of schadenfreude. "Looks like I'll just have to let them suffer a little longer until dawn."

However, despite saying that, he didn't stop what he was doing. He quickly cast an illusion spell on himself and Gandalf, and then the two of them became invisible and slowly approached the firelight.

The three ogres were still arguing fiercely about how to divide the number of people, completely unaware that someone had quietly come up behind them.

"Distract the audience~" A faint voice rang out, barely audible in the sound of the wind.

The three trolls suddenly became dazed, their not-so-bright minds filled only with their obsession with food, their only thought being to obtain the largest number of dwarves, and thus they became full of hostility towards their other two companions.

A voice kept tempting him in his mind: if he killed the other party, all the dwarves would belong to him.

It's unclear who made the first move, but soon the three ogres were fighting each other to the astonishment of the dwarves, as if they were mortal enemies, using all their strength to kill one another.

In an instant, the surrounding trees and boulders became their weapons, and the fighting area was left in ruins, with trees destroyed.

Only the area where Thorin and the others were located was protected by an invisible barrier, which blocked the impact of the rubble.

The dwarves who witnessed this were immediately overjoyed.

Bilbo, even more surprised, turned his head and searched around, whispering to the air, "Duir, is that you?"

The battle between the ogres intensified, eventually ending with all three sides suffering heavy losses.

One troll was smashed on the head by a boulder and lay on the ground, its life hanging in the balance; another had a hand and a foot broken and was unable to move; the last one, the final winner, also won at the cost of serious injury.

"Hehe, they're all mine now!" the pyrrhic ogre said happily.

But before it could even finish rejoicing, a flaming sword pierced straight through its chest, unleashing scorching golden flames that burned its heart to ashes.

And the one wielding the sword was none other than Gandalf.

Seeing this sudden scene, the other ogre, who had lost an arm and a leg, was terrified and immediately tried to stand up on one leg and run away.

But the next second, two sharp daggers pierced its most vulnerable eyes, instantly blinding the crippled troll once again.

The ogres let out painful screams, and, having lost its eyes, scurried around like headless flies.

"Duir, catch!" Gandalf threw the sword at him.

Dui caught the flaming sword and plunged it into the ogre's back, unleashing a burst of flames.

The troll's screams stopped abruptly, and it collapsed to the ground, unable to get up.

Dui drew his sword, approached the last unconscious troll, and easily defeated it.

Thus, Duy and Gandalf dealt with all three trolls.

As Dui painstakingly pulled his two daggers from the ogre's eyes and, with a hint of disgust, wiped away the dark bloodstains, Gandalf had already freed Bilbo and the dwarves from their bonds.

Bilbo and the dwarves were very excited and grateful to see Dui and Gandalf so easily kill the three trolls and rescue them.

Even the most stubborn Thorin solemnly expressed his gratitude to Dui and Gandalf.

"Duir, what is this?" Bilbo asked in surprise and curiosity when he saw Duir bring over a huge black crystal ball.

"This is a True Knowledge Crystal?!" Thorin Oak Shield was very surprised. As the heir of the Durin family, he had extraordinary knowledge and immediately recognized it.

Seeing that Thorin recognized him, Duy didn't hide anything and nodded with a smile, "We found it in an ogre cave. We happened to see you trapped from above, so Gandalf and I rushed over immediately."

Upon hearing this, Thorin was filled with envy.

If the Dulin clan also possessed a True Knowledge Crystal, they would have been able to discover the dragon's presence earlier and wouldn't have been forced into exile after losing Lonely Mountain.

They rescued everyone and brought back the horses that had been captured by the ogres, including Dui's dwarf horse, Xiaodai, and the carriage.

The carriage was protected by magic by Dui, so it was not damaged and nothing inside was missing, including the pot of mature mandrake.

A mature mandrake is a deadly weapon, but unfortunately Dui didn't learn the spell to block hearing, so he could only periodically cast a petrification spell on it to prevent it from killing him before killing the enemy.

After putting the True Knowledge Crystal into the carriage, Dui suggested that they explore the cave of the three trolls.

He remembered that Gandalf's sword and Bilbo's dagger were both obtained there.
