"Why didn't you jump first?" Philip retorted irritably.

Beaufort cautiously glanced down into the abyss, then quickly retreated, patting his chest and shaking his head vigorously: "It's so high, a fall would turn me into mincemeat. I'm not jumping, my heart can't take it!"

While the dwarves hesitated, Thorin hesitated for a moment before resolutely jumping down.

"Thorin!" The dwarves were startled.

Thorin is the heir of the Dulin dwarves; if anything happens to him, this trip to Lonely Mountain will be meaningless.

Without further hesitation, all the dwarves jumped down.

Feeling the rapid descent and the gust of wind, the dwarves screamed in terror, just as they thought they were about to fall to their deaths.

"Stop the speed by reducing shock!" Dui's voice rang out from below.

The dwarves instantly felt their descent slow down, stopping abruptly when they were twenty centimeters from the ground. Before they could even catch their breath, they lost their support and crashed face-first to the ground.

The dwarves groaned and scrambled to their feet.

"This was so thrilling! My heart almost stopped!" The eldest dwarf, Balin, gasped for breath, clutching his chest with lingering fear.

Gandalf was already standing beside Dui, watching the group of dwarves with a smile. "This is a rare opportunity to experience something like this. It would be a real shame to miss it, since not many people can jump from such a height and survive."

"Forget it, we dwarves only like living on the ground, we can't enjoy this kind of excitement at all," Bofer said with a look of rejection.

"By the way, where's Bilbo? Isn't he at the bottom of the abyss? I haven't seen him."
