Chapter 96 Flying on a Broomstick

Dui gets along well with the Bader family.

Bader was warm and hospitable, and his two children were innocent and kind.

Dui was very generous and took out some beautiful jewelry from his spatial bag to give to Bard's two children.

Three days have passed since Thorin and the others, along with Gandalf, left.

Dui was overjoyed to receive his first flying broomstick.

The broom handle is made from the hardest core of an old willow tree, and is entirely white with smooth, flowing lines.

Its interior is engraved with complex runes, and a faint magical power flows within it.

The end of the broom is cut into countless neat twigs from the remaining material to ensure its streamlined shape and precise balance.

Once the flying broom was finished, Dui couldn't wait to try it out.

He placed the flying broomstick at his feet, stretched out his hand, and shouted, "Get up!"

The broom rolled on the ground.

"Get up!" This time the tone was firm and left no room for refusal.

With a whoosh, the broom leaped from the ground and landed directly in Dui's hand.

Grasping the flying broom, Dui's lips curled into a quick smile, his excitement and sense of accomplishment evident.

Once the flying broom was made, the first thing to do was, of course, test its performance.

Dui couldn't wait to get to Bard's house, straddled the flying broomstick, and gently pushed off with his feet.

The person was suddenly lifted up by the broom and slowly floated off the ground.

And under your bottom, an invisible air cushion supports you, just like riding a bicycle, so you don't have to worry about hurting yourself.

The Budd family, who followed them out, were stunned by what they saw.

After the initial shock, Bard's youngest son was filled with excitement and eagerness, wishing he could ride it himself and experience it for himself.

Overjoyed at his first flight, Dui leaned forward and shot off like a rocket.

"Ahhh!" Dui flew around in the sky like a headless fly, sometimes soaring into the sky and sometimes almost crashing into the roof, making people tremble with fear.

The residents of Changhu Town were all attracted by this scene, and were immediately shocked.

They recognized the person flying on a broomstick as a guest staying at the Bud's house.

But I never expected that he would have such a skill, that he could fly!

The mayor, in particular, who was nearly hit on his own roof, stared wide-eyed out the window, craning his neck to look out, his eyes filled with annoyance.

Although he was greedy and short-sighted, he still had some insight.

He only regretted not inviting such an extraordinary person, instead letting that fisherman Bard benefit from it.

Meanwhile, Dui was completely unaware of the reactions of the residents of Longlake Town. After getting used to the flying broomstick, he finally managed to pilot it, albeit somewhat unsteadily, and landed back in front of Bard's house.

Seeing the envy and longing on Bader's two children's faces, Dui smiled and promised to take them to experience flying in the future.

After saying a formal goodbye to Bard, he rode his broomstick and soared into the sky, flying towards Lonely Mountain.

As for Bard's black arrow, Dui had considered taking it with him to use against the dragon Smaug.

But after thinking about it, he gave up.

Although the Black Arrow is currently the only known weapon in Middle-earth capable of piercing dragon scales, it doesn't mean it's the only thing that can deal with dragons. Dui has a divine spear called Egros, whose penetrating power is unmatched.

Gil-galad, the High King of the Noldor, once used it to pierce Sauron's toughest armor, leaving a wound on Sauron's body.

Dui believed his spear was no less powerful than the Black Arrow, so he left the Black Arrow to Bard to see if he could still accomplish the feat of slaying the dragon.

The speed of a flying broomstick depends on the level of craftsmanship; wizards in the magical world have broomsticks like the Sweep series and the Comet series.

Flying brooms such as the Nimbus series, and the fastest fire bolt.

Although Dui acquired the crafting technique for flying brooms, he was only a novice, so the flying brooms he made could not even match the flying speed of the slowest flying broom in the magical world.

Even so, with his flying broom, he still managed to catch up with Thorin and Gandalf, who had been on their journey for three days, in just half a day.

It is unknown what happened during those three days, but Gandalf was unable to persuade Thorin to give up on the Lonely Mountain and instead continued on with them.

When Dui was still just a tiny black dot in the distance, Gandalf had already spotted him and a smile immediately appeared on his face.

"Aha, our last member has finally caught up!"

Upon hearing Gandalf's words, the crowd looked in the direction he was looking, puzzled.

Then they saw a blurry figure in the distance rapidly approaching them.

Soon, Dui's figure came into view.

"Duir!"

Everyone stared in disbelief at the approaching Dui.

"My God, am I still dreaming? Why am I seeing Duir flying around on a broomstick?"

The dwarf Bomb rubbed his eyes and exclaimed, "Gentlemen, I'm not too late, am I?"

Dui leaned forward slightly, slowly descended from mid-air, landed on the ground, and asked the crowd with a smile.

"Welcome back, Duir." Gandalf happily stepped forward and gave Duir a hug, then eagerly looked at the broom in his hand. "I didn't expect you to have made a flying broom so quickly. How does it feel to fly?"

Seeing Gandalf's eager look, Duy chuckled and handed him the broom.

"It feels pretty good, you can give it a try."

Gandalf's eyes lit up instantly, and he grabbed the broom, beaming with joy.

"Then I won't stand on ceremony!"

After tossing the flying broomstick to Gandalf to play with, Dui turned and greeted the others.

Bilbo felt a sense of security upon seeing Dui, but he was also somewhat apprehensive and dared not meet Dui's gaze.

As an honest and trustworthy hobbit, Bilbo didn't know how to refuse. After being threatened by Thorin with the contract he had signed, even though he knew the dragon had awakened, he still agreed to risk stealing the Arkenstone for Thorin. So he left Lake-town with the dwarves.

Of course, more importantly, Bilbo had confidence in the One Ring he possessed.

He believed that once he put on the Ring, he would be able to steal the Arkenstone right under the dragon's nose.

This can be considered as fulfilling the original agreement.

It was just that when I left Lake-town with the dwarves, it was so sudden that I didn't have time to tell Dui and Gandalf before I left.

Now, when I see Dui again, I feel a little guilty.

Dui didn't care about this. Bilbo was his friend, not his owner, so he didn't need to ask for his opinion on anything.

He patted the hobbit on the shoulder, then smiled and greeted the dwarves.

To be honest, after spending so much time together, he had a pretty good impression of the dwarves, except for Thorin.

The eldest, Balin, was the wisest and most mature among the dwarves, a veritable strategist for the dwarf team.

The youngest, Fili and Chili, are Thorin's nephews, but they are lively, quick-witted, and friendly.

The fattest member, Bangbo, has a gentle personality and loves to eat and sleep. He is the "joker" of the group.

Other dwarfs also have many admirable qualities.

But even Sorin-Duy didn't know how to evaluate it.

"Welcome back, Duir," Thorin said warily, his eyes filled with suspicion. "I hope you're here to help us retake Lonely Mountain, not to persuade me to give up like Gandalf did."
