Chapter 139 Missed
"So how does the investigation begin?"
Seven rubbed his ears, which had been pinched red, and followed He Fu down the street.
"Hmph, it's only at times like this that you take the initiative to ask me."
Without turning her head, He Fu said with a hint of habitual helplessness, "Let's gather some information in town first."
The only clue provided by Interpol was that Rabbi's whereabouts had been found near Windswept Town.
As He Fu spoke, her thoughts drifted back to the Alliance headquarters a week earlier, when the Interpol agent codenamed "Handsome Guy" made a deal with the Alliance Chairman over a communication.
In exchange for providing clues, the Rangers Alliance will have the right to know about Interpol's public disclosure of Riolu and the time travel incident, and the right to participate in the investigation.
Afterwards, Alliance Chairwoman Xiao Cui looked serious. She ordered the chief patrol officers to resolve the matter before Interpol could intervene.
That's why the two of them came here.
The others were sent to conduct a large-scale search throughout Armia. Even so, a week had passed with little progress.
"Tch, so you don't have any clue either—ouch, that hurts!"
Seven rubbed his reddened ears again, putting on a pitiful and affected expression.
Just as He Fu was about to complain, she suddenly felt someone walking towards her.
"Isn't this Mr. Seven?"
haven't seen you for a long time."
Seven quickly regained his usual serious expression and looked at the young man who greeted him with some confusion.
He quickly remembered the man's name and realized that he had recently made a special trip to the Fengrao Town base just for him.
"Oh, it's Tong Hua."
Tong Hua, who happened to be passing by, smiled and nodded. The pickpocket cat and foam squirrel on his shoulder also curiously looked at the two people in front of him.
The electric dragon and messenger bird behind them, as well as the Slimie and Minifox playing in front, all stopped.
"Mr. Seven, I didn't expect to see you again so soon," Tong Hua greeted with a smile. "And this is?"
Tong Hua looked at the elegant older woman with green hair next to her and suddenly felt that the person looked familiar.
"I am He Fu, and I am a fellow chief ranger."
"Oh, Miss Hefu. I've heard of you, the strongest Starhawk user in the League!"
Tong Hua's smile didn't fade; instead, she became even more excited.
After all, apart from the player-controlled protagonist, there are very few chief rangers in the game.
I never expected that I would run into two of them just because I was passing by.
You're quite lucky.
"You flatter me." He Fu nodded slightly, her attitude polite but with a hint of distance.
After chatting for a while, Seven casually asked Tong Hua if he had seen a Celebi in the vicinity.
Upon hearing this, Tong Hua and the Pokémon were momentarily flustered, but they quickly regained their composure.
"No," Tong Hua said as naturally as possible, "I'd love to encounter such a rare Pokémon."
"That's right, I also wish I could just randomly run into them on the street. That way I could quickly finish my task and go back to continue challenging my hunting arena—ouch, ouch, ouch!"
"Ahem." He Fu coughed lightly, then pulled on Seven's ear and tried to leave.
"Then we'll have to excuse ourselves." With that, she pulled Seven away quickly.
"Phew—" Tong Hua finally breathed a sigh of relief after watching the two chief patrol officers walk away.
"Sigh—" The foam squirrel sitting on his shoulder also breathed a sigh of relief. He was probably the most shaken Pokémon just now.
"Meow."
"Luckily they didn't notice. Although they are not bad people, since neither of the two Celebi wants to be discovered, it's best not to let them know."
But why are they looking for a rabbi?
"Forget it, let's hurry on our way."
Meanwhile, on the Line-Drawn Plateau, at the headquarters of the Rangers' Alliance.
In a dedicated testing room on the second floor of the headquarters building, Riolu is conducting its seventh test of the week.
Professor Shinhara and his assistants conducted a thorough examination of the time-traveling Riolu.
From its physical composition and energy fluctuations to its skill release, combat instincts, and even its reactions to various modern Pokémon items.
Although Riolu was a little tired, he was still very cooperative. He knew that Professor Shinhara and the others meant no harm, and they were also helping him find Celebi and the Forest Lizard. In return, it wouldn't hurt for him to satisfy their curiosity.
However, those two Gears of Time remain an absolute taboo. Riolu hid them in the deepest compartment of his adventure backpack, and they have not been discovered to this day.
Ultimately, after a week of testing, Professor Shinhara's team only figured out that this Riolu had probably never been exposed to modern society.
They have absolutely no experience using modern tools and are likely from the past or even ancient times.
"Sigh—" Looking at the results of the seventh test, which were almost identical to the previous six, Professor Shinhara couldn't help but have the idea of changing his research field.
"If only I could understand Pokémon's language—"
How about I venture into the realm of Pokémon language?
The assistants exchanged glances upon hearing this, and a young researcher cautiously asked, "Professor, are you serious this time?"
Before Professor Shinhara could respond, another senior student quickly covered his mouth and muttered a curse under his breath.
"Are you stupid? The professor was just saying it casually. If you took it seriously every time, he would be an expert in the entire field by now."
"Cough cough cough!" Professor Shinhara coughed several times, silencing everyone present.
"Well, everyone seems tired, let's take a rest first."
Professor Shinhara waved his hand, indicating that today's testing was over. The assistants and researchers, feeling relieved, quickly packed up their equipment and left the testing room in hushed tones.
Soon, only Professor Shinhara and Riolu behind the glass window remained in the room.
The professor walked to the isolation door, opened it, and waved to Riolu inside: "Come out, kid. You've had a hard day. I'll take you to the cafeteria for something special."
Riolu's eyes lit up, and it immediately jogged over to see what was happening.
Although the waiting and testing process was tedious, the food in the headquarters cafeteria was his greatest comfort this week, especially the cool dessert called "ice cream"!
A man and his dog walked down the empty corridor. Professor Shinhara looked at Riolu, who was curiously looking at the electronic screens around them, and couldn't help but sigh again.
"If only I could know what you're thinking—" he murmured to himself, and suddenly began telling Riolu a fairy tale.
"Legend has it that a kingdom existed in the Almia region long ago."
The king loved his people like his own children, and the people lived in peace and prosperity, making the kingdom flourish.
Leo sat in the cafeteria, licking his ice cream while listening to the old man's story.
"However, the king's three princes did not inherit their father's will; they spent their days vying for power and scheming against each other."
The king was furious and eventually ordered all three princes to be expelled from the country.
A prince went to a desert country.
Another prince went to the land of volcanoes.
The third prince, however, went nowhere and remained in the castle. As time went on, the king, with no successor, grew desperate, which sparked endless darkness throughout the world.
The story ends abruptly here, leaving Riolu completely confused.
"Mmm?"
It feels like a story with a disjointed and incomplete ending, with no sense of closure.
"The content of this story itself is not important. What I want to say is that some of the languages we humans have passed down will be lost or forgotten over time."
Understanding Pokémon's language is no easy feat.
Professor Shinhara looked at Riolu's confused and somewhat disappointed expression, smiled wryly, and reached out to pat its head.
"However—" The professor's tone softened, and a scholar's unique persistence rekindled in his eyes.
"You can rest assured, I guarantee I will solve everything for you, including the Pokémon you are looking for and the way to get you home."
Upon hearing this, Riolu smiled at Professor Shinhara. Then, glancing at the sunset outside the window, he licked the ice cream from his lips and softly exclaimed, "Whoa!"
"come on!"
