Chapter 272 The Hotel and the Large Glass Elevator

Chapter 272 The Hotel and the Large Glass Elevator

"Which floor do you need to go to?"

As the sound faded, rows of numbers appeared on the metal plate.

However, unlike normal elevator buttons, the elevators here don't just offer the option to select a floor.

Following the number representing the floor, there is another number that forms a series of strange coordinates.

"Um?"

Staring at these strange coordinates whose meaning was incomprehensible, Jessica and Feng were both a little confused. Even the little witch Tibrim, who had lived for hundreds of years, didn't understand what was going on for a moment.

"Anyway, why don't you go in and try pressing any button?"

Jessica's curiosity ultimately overcame her caution, and she pulled the still somewhat hesitant Feng into the spacious elevator car. Sweet and Cold Queen, along with Tibrim and Chinchilla, followed.

The glass doors closed silently, and the interior of the car was unusually simple, with only four smooth, mirror-like glass walls and a metal plate on the front wall displaying constantly scrolling coordinates.

"Which one should I press? —" Jessica's finger hovered over those perplexing coordinates.

"Let's pick one that looks good?" Feng suggested, his gaze sweeping over the jumping numbers and symbols.

"Let's go with this one, 6 and 21, which happens to be Xiaotong's birthday," Jessica said, reaching out to press the coordinates.

The moment Jessica's finger touched the coordinate [6-21], the entire elevator emitted an extremely faint "click" sound, like gears precisely meshing.

The expected feeling of weightlessness did not occur; instead, a strange sensation of translation occurred!

The view outside the four glass walls is no longer a static hotel corridor, but has transformed into a rapidly flowing, colorful, and distorted band of light, as if the elevator is gliding at high speed along an invisible track.

It didn't feel like ascending or descending; it felt more like navigating through an incredibly complex network of pipes.

"Whoa!" Jessica exclaimed, instinctively grabbing the wind beside her.

He steadied himself and looked out the window in surprise: "This elevator—is it moving sideways?"

"Bri!" Tibrim pressed her face against the glass, almost touching it, her eyes filled with fascination at the strange spatial power. "Squeak!" Chinchilla excitedly spun around on the smooth floor, seemingly enjoying the novel sensation.

"Ah!" Sweet and beautiful Queen gracefully adjusted her center of gravity, her leaves swaying slightly as she sensed the flow of energy in the surrounding space.

The elevator not only moves horizontally, but also occasionally rises and falls slightly. There was even one time when I could clearly feel it tilting as it turned a sharp bend.

The light and shadow outside the glass wall constantly change color, and various scenes from different times and spaces flash by like rooms.

Suddenly, the elevator jerked to a halt, stopping its horizontal movement. Immediately afterwards, a strong sensation of upward motion washed over it!

"It's going up now!" Jessica shouted.

The ascent lasted less than five seconds before the elevator changed direction again, this time plummeting downwards! The feeling of weightlessness made everyone's hearts leap into their throats.

The feeling of falling quickly disappeared, and the elevator resumed its smooth horizontal movement, only the speed seemed to have slowed down.

"Whoosh—whoosh—"

Jessica and Feng were panting heavily; this elevator ride was more thrilling than a roller coaster.

"Where are we right now?"

Just as they were still in shock, the rapidly flowing light outside the elevator suddenly slowed down and finally stopped.

"Ding!"

After a crisp beep, the elevator panel turned green, and the glass doors slowly opened.

"Oh my god—" Sweet and cold beauty was still walking at the front, but the scene in front of them stunned them all.

The reason was that the scene outside the door was not a corridor, but an amusement park that looked like it was built inside an old castle.

The ceiling was incredibly high, and the room was brightly lit by a light source that seemed to come from nowhere. The air was filled with the sweet scent of cotton candy and the faint smell of wood.

"Wow!"

The group was standing on a platform resembling an entrance, with smooth stone slabs under their feet. A few steps forward, the platform transformed into a soft carpet with bright colors and cartoon patterns.

Looking around, the carousel is turning slowly and silently, and the "horses" on it are all kinds of cute Pokémon wood carvings.

A little further away, a small Ferris wheel stands quietly, its cabins shaped like Poké Balls. Deeper still, you can see a bumper car track and a tunnel shimmering with soft, colorful lights.

However, in stark contrast to this joyful atmosphere, the entire space was unusually quiet, with no cheerful music or laughter that one would expect from an amusement park.

The amusement rides were all operating autonomously, yet there was no one there, as if a grand party had just ended, leaving only these tireless machines still running on their own.

"This is... an amusement park?" Jessica blinked, staring incredulously at the scene before her. "Inside a hotel?"

He cautiously took a few steps forward, observing his surroundings: "And it looks like—no one's here?"

"Bri—" Tibrim cautiously looked around, though she could clearly sense that there were other people around.

"Terrifying!"

Chinchilla didn't think too much about it. When it saw the carousel, it excitedly ran over and lightly jumped onto a cute wooden Chinchilla sculpture, and started to spin slowly with the carousel.

"Chino the Chipmunk, wait!" Jessica called out, but Chino the Chipmunk was already happily sitting on the rocking horse, waving its little paws at them as it slowly spun around.

"This place...it feels so strange. Should we go back?"

I frowned slightly. The cloying scent of cotton candy in the air seemed a bit too strong, and the deathly silence of the joyful scene made me feel uneasy.

"Hehehe!"

Suddenly, a clear and eerie laugh echoed from somewhere, reverberating throughout the empty amusement park. The laughter carried a childlike innocence and sounded like it belonged to a woman.

"Hehehe!"

That ethereal, eerie laughter rang out again, this time seemingly closer, as if it were coming from the shadow of the carousel.

Chinchilla jumped in fright and ran back to the group, nervously grabbing Jessica's trouser leg. "Who? Who's there?" Jessica shouted, her voice trembling in the empty amusement park.

Sweet Cold Beauty immediately stepped forward, shielding everyone behind her. Her leaves stood up slightly, emitting a faint fragrance with a hint of warning.

"Bree!"

Tibrim also raised her little hand, and magical light began to gather at her fingertips.

The amusement park rides around us continued to operate silently, and everything seemed so eerie.

"Is this a new guest?" That ethereal voice rang out again, carrying a hint of curiosity and—playfulness?

As soon as the words were spoken, the air in front of everyone distorted, and a figure slowly emerged.

That was a... dream monster?

But she looks a little different from ordinary dream monsters; she is slightly larger.

She was enveloped in a faint, sunset-like pinkish-purple halo, and the red beads shimmered with an alluring light as if soaked in blood.

What is most striking are her large eyes, which possess a strange charm that is both ancient and childlike innocence.

She floated lightly in mid-air, tilting her head to survey the group of uninvited guests, a playful yet mysterious smile curving her lips.

"I am a guest in this Phantom Hotel, and my name is Zhenyifa."

"You all seem to be unfamiliar faces. Were you also invited by the hotel owner?"

"Winged Wings—?" Jessica repeated the unfamiliar name, instinctively glancing at Feng, only to find the same confusion in his eyes. They had never heard of this form of dream demon before.

However, the other party seemed to have nothing to say, and even seemed to know the hotel owner, so we should be able to get some information out of her.

"We—we're travelers, you could say," Jessica said, regaining her composure. "We came here through the services of the steward."

"Um—Miss Zhenyi, have you been living here all this time?"

"Hehehe~"

Zhenyi let out her signature ethereal laughter, floated around the crowd, and said, "I've lived here for a very, very long time~ so long that I've almost forgotten about time~"

Her gaze swept over Sweet Cold Queen, Tibrim, and Chino the Chipmunk, finally settling on Jessica and Wind, her eyes sparkling with curiosity.

"What era do you come from? How were you chosen by the innkeeper?"

"Well----"

When Zhenyi asked her this question, Jessica stammered and didn't know how to answer.

"Ding!"

Just then, another glass elevator next to it was suddenly opened.

Ai Guanshi and her brother gracefully stepped out of the elevator and spoke after seeing everyone.

"Guests, you have arrived at your destination."

"Oh, so fast?" Jessica looked at the suddenly appearing Aiguan and her brother in surprise, as if she had seen a savior.

Upon seeing the two servants, Zhenyi immediately shifted his focus and moved closer to them.

Lanny gave Zhenyi a graceful bow: "Lord Zhenyi, these are distinguished guests who have just arrived at the hotel. Please do not tease them."

"Hehehe~ I wasn't teasing them, I was just saying hello. By the way, they don't seem to recognize the owner of this inn. Did you two not do your job properly?"

"this----"

Butler's antennae twitched almost imperceptibly. He bowed slightly, his tone still steady but his pace a little faster: "I am extremely sorry, Mr. Zhenyi Fa, and all the distinguished guests. This was indeed our oversight."

"So, you haven't introduced Mr. Tong Hua to him either?" Lani looked at her troublesome younger brother with some helplessness. Butler coughed lightly, avoiding his sister's gaze. "Anyway, let's go back to the hall first."

"I'm going too!"

And so, the group squeezed into the same large glass elevator and "whoosh"ed back to the hotel lobby on the first floor.

Tong Hua and the other Pokémon seemed to be resting at the rest area, and they were completely unaware that Jessica and Feng had just left to go on an adventure.

Zhenyi Hair, like a wisp of smoke, was the first to emerge from the elevator and began to wander around the lobby on its own.

The siblings, Ai Guanshi and Lanni, followed closely behind. Lanni bowed slightly in Tong Hua's direction and said, "Mr. Tong Hua, I'm sorry to disturb your rest."

The hotel has now reached its destination, but before you depart, there is something very important I need to tell you.

Tong Hua opened her eyes upon hearing the sound, sat up somewhat bewildered, and saw a strangely shaped dream demon floating in front of her, tilting its head and scrutinizing her with its intelligent eyes.

"Hmm? Winged Launcher?"

Tong Hua rubbed her eyes and subconsciously uttered a name that should not exist in this world.

Zhenyi's initially curious gaze froze when she heard Tong Hua utter the name. The aura around her rippled slightly, and a hint of disbelief flashed in her eyes.

"Hehehe?" She let out a slightly puzzled laugh, drifting closer, almost touching Tong Hua's face. "You—recognize me?"
