Chapter 289 Angelic Legacy, Order and Life
Chapter 289 Angelic Legacy, Order and Life
The Temple of Life is filled with a gentle yet powerful life force.
Verdant vines entwined the white jade pillars, and exotic flowers exuding a delicate fragrance bloomed quietly in the corners. Visible light spots of pale green life energy flowed in the air, nourishing everything within the hall.
This is the most vibrant place in the realm of reincarnation gods, and also the exclusive domain of the Goddess of Life, Yali.
Yali stood in the center of the temple. Opposite her, the angelic holy sword floated in mid-air, upon which a clear and solid golden phantom appeared—it was Qian Renxue's divine consciousness.
Qian Renxue's phantom image remained as stunning as ever, with long golden hair flowing like sunlight, and her fair and delicate face flawlessly adorned with features. Even as a phantom, her tall figure exuded an innate nobility and pride.
Those who possess the Angelic Martial Soul seem to always receive special favor in terms of appearance.
Yali is also very beautiful.
Qian Renxue's divine consciousness slowly rotated, her golden eyes sweeping over the magnificent and peaceful scene inside the Temple of Life, the bricks and tiles constructed from the purest divine life force, and the rich vitality flowing within, enough to drive any god in the outside world mad.
Her own light finally fell back on Yali, and her voice rang out, carrying a complex and incomprehensible emotion, as if there was a sense of感慨 (gǎnkǎi, deep emotion), 念念 (niànniàn, reminiscence), and also a trace of indescribable loneliness: "Such a magnificent and vibrant temple—I never imagined that Harosa would care so much about you."
Yali stood there quietly, listening to Qian Renxue's words. Looking at the angel god before her, who had once been a powerful figure and even an enemy of Harossa, she felt a slight ripple in her heart.
According to the lineage, the angelic martial soul within her body, tracing its origins, might truly deserve to be called an ancestral god by Qian Renxue.
But the reality is that she is the Goddess of Life in the Realm of Reincarnation, while Qian Renxue is a prisoner who survived only by exchanging conditions.
The relationship between them left Yali momentarily at a loss as to how to address the other person or how to begin this conversation that was destined to be anything but easy.
In the end, she simply responded to Qian Renxue's sentiments about Harosa with simple yet firm words: "He was sincere to me."
Qian Renxue noticed Ya Li's aloofness and awkwardness, her reluctance to speak. A knowing glint flashed in her golden eyes, followed by a self-deprecating bitter smile.
Ignoring Yali's silence, she continued speaking as if she had opened a floodgate, her voice carrying a desolate air of world-weariness: "You—do you look down on me? Do you think I've lost the pride of the angel race, like a defeated dog, wagging my tail and begging for mercy, barely surviving?"
Yali frowned slightly; she had indeed not had such a thought.
She is kind and would not harbor such malice towards others.
She was about to speak when Qian Renxue raised her hand to stop her and continued, her tone gradually becoming agitated and stubborn: "You can say I'm living a cowardly life, you can say I'm despicable and shameless. But I have reasons to do this! My entire life—from birth to becoming a god, and then to my fall—seems to have been arranged and manipulated by an invisible hand! My ideals, my love, my faith, even my failures—all seem like a script that has already been written! My tragic life is destined to be subject to criticism and ridicule, but I no longer care about these things, nor do I have the strength to refute them."
Her ethereal figure trembled slightly, as if recalling countless painful memories, yet her voice grew ever more resolute: "I live now for only one purpose—for myself, for my poor, unfortunate mother, and for what should rightfully exist in this world—justice, order! I will draw my belated sword against the one who wrote this script!"
As Ya Li listened to Qian Renxue's almost cathartic confession, she felt a mix of emotions. She could sense the deep-seated pain and resentment in Qian Renxue's words, and the helplessness of being manipulated by fate.
She sighed softly, her voice softening considerably: "Actually—perhaps we have some similarities. Many times, we are not entirely in control of our own destiny, but are pushed forward by unseen currents, by a more powerful force."
Upon hearing this, Qian Renxue paused for a moment, then let out a soft, ambiguous laugh, tinged with bitterness and mockery. It was unclear whether she was laughing at Ya Li or at herself: "Are you trying to comfort me? Look at yourself now, powerful and revered as a God-King, with a strong figure like Harossa as your support, impervious to all storms. Your so-called 'inability to make decisions' is probably not the same thing I've experienced."
Yali shook her head. She didn't want to talk too much about her past with Harosa, which wasn't all pleasant.
She looked at Qian Renxue, her eyes clear yet possessing a resilience unique to life: "You know, I'm talking about now." Fate may be unpredictable, but life itself is far more tenacious than we imagine. Any hardship may crush us temporarily, but it can hardly truly extinguish all hope. Life will always find a way out in unexpected ways, tenaciously surviving.
"Is this your Dao?" Qian Renxue looked at her, a different kind of light seeming to appear in her golden eyes.
"I suppose it's one of them," Yali nodded slightly.
Qian Renxue shook her head, her tone carrying an almost cruel clarity: "But life, sometimes, is not so resilient. When order completely collapses, when justice is trampled into mud by power, life—is nothing more than a candle in the wind, extinguished in an instant."
Before Yali could retort, she spoke first, in an almost imploring tone, solemnly saying, "Therefore, you must make good use of the power you are about to gain to maintain that order. Not for anyone else, but simply so that more lives can spend their lives, whether long or short, in a relatively fair and orderly world. This is, perhaps, the last—and only—hope that I, a loser, can leave behind."
As soon as she finished speaking, Qian Renxue's illusory divine consciousness became extremely solemn. She said no more, and her hands formed an ancient and complex divine seal in front of her chest, a legacy of angels.
In an instant, the suspended angelic holy sword burst forth with an unprecedentedly dazzling golden light! That light was not simply fiery, but contained an orderly meaning that sorted out all things and defined rules.
At the same time, countless tiny golden runes, formed from pure laws of order, drifted out from Qian Renxue's phantom like attracted fireflies, flowing slowly towards Yali like a golden stream.
Yali also calmed her mind and sat down cross-legged. She released her life divine essence, and her body emitted a soft yet vast emerald green life radiance. The golden runes and torrents of laws representing supreme order began to come into contact with and merge with her life divine power.
Inside the Temple of Life, the scene became strange and magnificent. On one side was the golden light of order, representing absolute rules and governing all things; on the other side was the green light of life, representing vigorous vitality and nourishing all things.
Two seemingly different, yet complementary, supreme laws began their symphony in this tranquil temple.
The golden light attempts to define the boundaries and rules of growth for the green light, while the green light, with its endless vitality, nourishes the framework of order constructed by the golden light, preventing it from becoming rigid and lifeless.
The inheritance has officially begun. This is not only a transfer of power, but also a transmission of ideals and responsibilities. Qian Renxue entrusted her lifelong obsession and yearning for order, along with the holy sword that bore the glory and sorrow of the angel race, to this new generation god-king whose destiny was vastly different from hers, yet who seemed to understand some of her pain.
