Chapter 140: The Mysterious Alchemy
Chapter 140: The Mysterious Alchemy
This was the second day after Sheen found Professor Terra.
It was also Tuesday at Hogwarts.
The weather was cold, but sunny.
In the corridor, Sheen carried many books, which occasionally floated around him and changed positions, making it easier for him to find relevant content for a particular knowledge point in different books.
Just then, a loud explosion rang out to Sheehan's left. He ducked back and saw the Weasleys emerging from behind a portrait, holding some strange-looking fireworks.
"How about something special?"
Fred said loudly.
"Wizard's Colorful Firecrackers!"
George threw a colorful firecracker into Sheehan's hand.
Sheen drew his wand even faster than George, and with a wave of his wand, the firecracker stopped in mid-air.
"Oh—this is not good."
George watched the firecracker about to explode, then grabbed Fred who was trying to escape.
Soon, Sheen learned what the colorful firecrackers were.
It wasn't a muffled thud, but a deafening explosion like a cannon blast, engulfing the Weasleys in a cloud of blue smoke. From within, a rear admiral's hat and several lively white mice burst forth.
Fred was wearing a hat, and blue smoke was coming out of his mouth.
"The great Grimm—a brilliant silent spell..."
The wizard's colorful firecrackers weren't particularly dangerous, but Sheen sensed several spells erupting from them for a fleeting moment—an explosion spell, a polymorph spell, and a sound-storing spell similar to a roaring letter.
Alchemy is indeed wondrous; a few simple spells can produce magical wizard firecrackers. But at the same time, Sheen has a unique feeling that it is not a spell or a transformation, but a mysterious and profound power.
This feeling is especially common among the various gadgets the Weasleys have brought out these past few days.
As Sheen pondered, he cast a cleansing spell, purifying the corridor and the twins.
Then he looked at the Weasleys, nodded politely with a slight smile, and headed towards the spiral staircase.
"Do you think he sensed it? Alchemy can't afford to lose a genius."
Fred spat out a piece of colored paper and stuffed the white mouse into the firework box.
"Of course, that's—"
George raised one eyebrow.
"The great—Green."
The two of them, carrying colorful packets of firecrackers, closed their eyes and entered the secret passage.
Ever since Hogwarts Castle was shrouded in a thin layer of white, Sheen has been diligently studying alchemy, especially the Twins' Notebook, although it is often filled with wildly imaginative content and extremely brief descriptions.
But there is no doubt that these concise contents are ten times better than those vague and obscure books.
Perhaps alchemists feared that future generations would easily unravel the secrets of alchemy, or perhaps alchemists wanted to highlight the mystery of alchemy.
The alchemy books are full of symbols and allusions, almost like Michael's sleep talking, where he says whatever comes to mind.
For example: [A circle drawing imbued with magical power is an ancient magical invention used by anyone with a specific or hidden purpose. He uses it to protect himself from "the danger of the soul," a threat that arises from the outside.]
These are "illusions" in the realm of alchemy. The circular drawings written in the book are runic expressions of the Confusion Charm, and they are the secrets behind the Leaky Cauldron's ability to exclude Muggles.
Isn't it amazing? But without reading "A Beginner's Guide to Alchemy," "A Simple Introduction to Ancient Runes," and "The Fifth Element: Exploration" all at the same time, no one would know the meaning of this circle.
It appears in *An Introduction to Alchemy*, but is explained in *The Fifth Element: Exploration*. Ultimately, only wizards proficient in *An Easy Introduction to Ancient Runes* can understand what it refers to.
In short, the mysterious properties of alchemy piqued Shin's interest, especially since these properties seemed to be rooted in the entire field of alchemy.
It seems it was meant to be a kind of...mysterious magic.
Compared to that, potions are much better. Sheen has just finished organizing the Fusion Enlightenment Method, forming a temporarily complete potion will domain system.
After this, any wizard could brew potions using this method, even if he was mediocre and only had a rough grasp of the potion-making process.
But it's okay.
All you need to do is believe, and leave the rest to magic.
It is foreseeable how much impact this entire theory will have on the field of potions.
Today, Sheen is carrying this complete manuscript to the cellar.
This made him feel that the trip was full of historical significance.
The cold wind in the cellar was always biting, enough to send a shiver down the spine of a young wizard emerging from the warm fireplace.
As you descend, the air becomes thicker, a mixture of smells of earth, plants, and crucibles.
Professor Snape continued to stare ahead, the leaping flames illuminating the contents of the parchment in his hand—this was Sheen's writing of the Fusion Enlightenment Method, the final piece of the puzzle in the realm of potion will.
There was a barely noticeable "1" in the corner of this parchment, and even Snape would not have expected the breakthrough to come so quickly.
Sure enough, only wizards who can't even get started would come up with other methods.
In the cellar. Professor Snape's upturned lips held a smile that was hard to decipher—was it mockery or admiration?
The cellar door was then pushed open, and Snape watched coldly as Sheen skillfully began brewing the potion.
His crucible steamed, and he placed rose petals and vanilla pods into it one by one… Then, with fluid movements, he proceeded with the refinement ritual step by step.
Sheen carefully considered the reason behind the magical effects of this ritual.
—They should be a kind of suggestion, a tool to reinforce the wizard's beliefs.
Soon bubbles appeared in the crucible, and Sheen began stirring it according to the strict steps, which made Professor Snape frown.
The sticky liquid turned golden during the final stirring, and the panel notification sounded as expected.
[You have brewed a potion of joy with a beginner level skill. Proficiency +3]
Sheen opened the panel:
[Title: First Encounter with Potions]
[Significantly increases sensitivity to potions, slightly enhances potion-making talent]
[Advanced: Three Master-level potions and three Beginner-level potions can unlock the Master-level title in the potion-making field]
[Scabies Treatment: Expert Level (10/3000)]
[Swelling Reduction Potion: Expert Level (20/3000)]
[Swelling Potion: Expert Level (20/3000)]
[Joyful Potion: Apprentice Level (110/300)]
……
Once Sheen reaches the beginner level in the Elixir of Joy, he will unlock a new potion title, and at the same time, the mysterious art of alchemy will be revealed to him.
Once alchemy is listed on the character panel, whether it's mysterious or not is no longer up to you.
Sheen slowly drank a bottle of potion, as the energy consumed by the improved ritual was rapidly recovering.
"What do you think—Sheen Green—should stir the potion to the left a few times while it's boiling?"
"Two laps, Professor."
Sheehan recalled.
"Idiot! Completely wrong!"
