Chapter 595, Section 593: The Void Talisman Shatters and a Legend Appears

The Daily Prophet was on time for the next five days without fail.

Every morning, at least a dozen owls would break through the rain curtain over Hogwarts and drop wet newspapers into the bowls of porridge in the Great Hall.

The students had stopped gasping.

They simply fished the newspapers out of the cereal paste, spread them on the table, and read the increasingly bad news while chewing on cold toast.

The Daily Prophet

June 5th, front page: London again attacked by witches. Our reporter Barnabas Goughfe reports: At 8:20 pm last night, witch activity was again observed near the River Thames in London. This is the third witch activity reported in England in nearly three weeks, and the first time it has occurred in a Muggle-populated area.

According to witnesses, the massive explosion occurred near the south bank and was clearly visible from several kilometers away.

The Accidents and Disasters Division quickly dispatched a memory erasure team to cover three nearby blocks and provided emergency treatment to the Muggles who witnessed the incident.

No casualties have been reported so far, but an unnamed Ministry of Magic official privately told this newspaper that "the series of sudden incidents do not seem to be accidental, but rather an organized intimidation."

The Ministry of Magic has raised the national alert level from Level 2 to Level 3 (Level 5 is the highest).

The UK representative of the International Confederation of Wizards will submit an internal report to the Confederation next week regarding recent unconventional magical security incidents in the UK. This marks the first time since the defeat of Vulture that the UK has been forced to make a formal statement to the international community regarding domestic black magic activities.

June 6th.

The spell practice exam is scheduled for today.

The examination was held in a clearing outside the castle, on the edge of the Forbidden Forest.

Before the exam began, Professor Flitwick stood by the exam room.

His height was not enough for everyone to see him, but no one could ignore his wand, the tip of which always shone with a cold blue light.

Sheen performed an Ironclad Charm during the exam that exceeded the requirements for a third-year student, deflecting the Leg-Lowering Charm that Flitwick had shot at him.

Flitwick removed the spell with his wand, paused for a moment, and then said quietly, "Excellent, Mr. Grimm. You may end this early."

As he walked out of the examination hall, he saw a Gryffindor witch, Lavender Brown, crying on a bench by the door.

"Her mother works in the Department of Magical Law Enforcement and was temporarily reassigned to the Auror Support Group yesterday. The letter Lavender received said her mother hasn't replied in three days. Sigh, she has her Herbology exam tomorrow—"

Parvati Petil and her sister Padma Petil walked over to Sheen, who overheard their hushed conversation.

He stood at the edge of the forbidden forest, silently watching the two sisters sit down beside her, offering her a hug and a bag of nearly crushed chocolate frogs.

The next day, June 7th, before the exam, the Daily Prophet arrived as scheduled.

[Werewolf Attack Approaching, Several Wizarding Families in Central England Evacuated] According to an emergency notice issued late last night by the Department of Magical Creatures Control, werewolf packs have significantly expanded their range into central England again over the past week.

Several wizarding families in Yorkshire, Derbyshire, and Nottinghamshire have been notified to evacuate. This is the first time since the establishment of the British Ministry of Magic that a large-scale preventative evacuation has been initiated due to the threat of werewolf packs.

A spokesperson for the Department of Magical Creatures Control stated at a press conference last night that there is "sufficient evidence" that werewolf packs are operating in concert under the organization of Fenrir Greyback.

When asked if other dark forces were involved in the coordination, the spokesperson declined to comment.

The evacuation list includes the families of at least four Hogwarts students, two of whom are Muggle-born. Their parents were taken over by the Department of Magical Accidents and Disasters during the evacuation.

This newspaper has noted that there are currently more than ten immediate family members of Hogwarts students who are either at St. Mungo's Hospital, on the front lines of the Ministry of Magic, or on the evacuation list.

This means that almost every student in Hogwarts Castle knows someone who is being affected by this "informal war."

The herbalism exam was conducted in a greenhouse.

It's raining outside again.

As Sheen reached into the soil to transplant the Illusion Grass, a suppressed sob suddenly came from the workbench next to her. A Hufflepuff girl had received a note delivered by an owl; her hands were trembling so badly that soil slipped through her fingers.

Professor Sprout walked over, squatted down, and gently patted her shoulder with his rough hands.

Sheen didn’t hear what Professor Sprout said, but he saw the girl’s lips tremble, saw her crumple the note into a ball and stuff it into her pocket, and saw her pick up the shovel again and fill the pot of the magic grass with soil.

The entire process takes no more than forty seconds.

No one asked her what had happened.

Everyone was pretending not to see the muddy water mixed with tears dripping from her sleeves.

June 9th.

Early in the morning, Sheen was going to take the Transfiguration exam.

But the gasps and exclamations that rose and fell in the auditorium held him back.

He slowly opened the magic hand mirror and began to look at the Daily Prophet's section.

Giants Attack Wizarding Family Farm—Retired Arrogance Romagus McGonagall and His Wife and Daughters Injured

He looked up; Professor McGonagall was not at the teachers' table.

Her seat was empty, the plate in front of her was untouched, and the napkin was still neatly folded.

Rita Skeeter's writing style remains as sharp as ever.

The attack occurred at midnight yesterday. The McGregor family farm, located in the suburbs of London, was attacked by at least three giants.

The west wing of the main farmhouse was completely destroyed, and the livestock sheds were razed to the ground.

Marcus McGonagall was struck by a rock hurled by a giant during the encounter, suffering multiple fractures, and is currently receiving treatment at St. Mungo's Hospital.

His wife and daughter sustained minor injuries and have been discharged from the hospital. According to our sources, nearby Muggles have recorded the incident as a "natural gas pipeline explosion," and the Scottish Department of Magical Accidents and Disasters is conducting a joint memory correction.

Additionally, Professor Minerva McGonagall was on teaching duties at Hogwarts when the attack occurred and was unable to return in time.

She arrived at St. Mungo's Hospital early the following morning and declined to comment when questioned by Auror outside her ward. [This newspaper will continue to follow this story.]

Sheen silently closed the Daily Prophet's section and then opened another communication.

[Sheen Green: How are you doing lately?]

Sirius Black: Good morning, Mr. Grimm. I must say, those idiots are like they've been cursed with an Imperius Curse. They keep provoking the Ministry of Magic, and the Ministry's fools have no way to respond!

They had no idea what was happening, or how serious the situation was—damn it.

Remus Lupin: We've dealt with those giants, but disturbingly, there are probably more than just these few, and the terrorist attacks they're planning are likely to continue.

Sheehan Green: I understand. Mr. Sirius, Mr. Lupin, please, minimize casualties as much as possible.

]

Sirius Black: That's how it should be.

Putting away the magic mirror, Sheen gazed into the distance.

The distant sky was a hazy gray, tinged with rain and mist.

After that night, Lupin and Sirius continued to participate in the pursuit of Voldemort.

Sometimes, they would also be responsible for handing over duties to Lucius.

Through them, Sheehan was able to clearly understand the process of Voldemort's complete madness.

Inevitably, he went into hiding.

The better news is that, to ensure his safety, he dares not show himself.

This means that the damage caused by those dark wizards or dark creatures is limited.

Even if it's limited, it's enough to cause widespread panic throughout the magical world.

And—there were casualties.

Sheen silently left the corridor and merged into the crowd.

Most young wizards' last two exams are Divination and Defense Against the Dark Arts, while Sheehan and Hermione have Muggle Studies as an additional subject.

Sheehan, Hermione, and Justin walked up the marble staircase together, where Hermione parted ways with them, while Sheehan and Justin climbed all the way to the eighth floor.

Many students sat on the spiral staircase leading to Professor Trelawney's classroom, hoping to cram at the last minute.

"She met with us one by one."

Neville lingered at the door, and Sheehan and the others went over and sat down next to him.

Neville had his book, "Seeing the Future Through the Fog," open on his lap, with the chapter in the crystal ball flipped to the right.

"Have you ever seen anything inside a crystal ball?"

He asked, troubled.

"no."

Justin said helplessly.

The line outside the classroom shortened very slowly, and as each person descended the silver stairs, the other students whispered, "What did she ask? Was she alright?"

But none of them would say.

"She said the crystal ball told her that if I told her, a great calamity would strike!"

Neville spoke to Sheehan and Justin from the ladder, by which time the two of them had reached the landing.

"Hopefully it will be soon—"

Justin said softly.

Then, the door opened.

Parvati came down beaming with pride.

She said I possessed all the qualities of a true prophet.

She told Justin, "I saw so many things—well, good luck to you guys!"

She glanced at Sheehan with a lack of confidence, then hurried down the spiral staircase to meet Lavender.

"Justin Finley!"

That familiar, dreamlike voice came from above.

Justin paused slightly, then climbed the silver stairs and disappeared.

Only a handful of people are still waiting for the exam.

Sheen sat on the floor with his back against the wall, spreading out the exam schedule.

Finally, about twenty minutes later, Justin reappeared on the ladder.

Sheehan didn't ask, but Justin guessed what he wanted to ask.

"I think it's a complete mess."

Justin said, "I didn't see anything, but the professor seemed quite satisfied with the fabricated content—"

Professor Trelawney's voice was already calling out, "Mr. Sheehan Green!"

The room at the top of the tower was hotter than ever before. The curtains were drawn, and a fire was burning in the fireplace, its usual pungent aroma making Sheen uncomfortable.

He walked around the haphazardly placed tables and chairs and headed toward Professor Trelawney, who was sitting in front of a large crystal ball.

"Hello dear,"

She said softly, "Please look at this crystal ball—look slowly—and then tell me what you see—"

Sheen leaned down and stared at the crystal ball, wondering what else it could show him besides the swirling white mist, but nothing did.

He couldn't help but recall his prophetic talent.

It was a big red color, which is the legend.

Then, he thought of his slightly open third eye.

Beyond the border, what else can it reveal to itself?

Even the location of the next terrorist attack?

"How is it?"

Professor Trelawney asked gently, "Mr. Green, what did you see?"

The room was unbearably hot, and Sheen was made even more uncomfortable by the smoke wafting from the nearby fireplace.

Sheen looked carefully for a long time to make sure nothing had happened.

He sighed almost imperceptibly, then decided to start making things up based on what was in the book.

At that moment, Professor Trelawney suddenly stopped in his tracks.

Sheehan saw Professor Trelawney sitting upright in his armchair, his eyes glazed over and his mouth agape.

Sheehan was utterly surprised. Was the professor about to make another prophecy?

He stood quietly, listening intently to Professor Trelawney's words, which were still that harsh voice, quite different from her usual tone.

"The dividing line has become blurred—those things are returning, no longer cold, lifeless stones, no longer deep carvings—the mist is getting closer, his will will be obeyed, at the most needed moment—and so, the empty rune shatters and the legend appears—"

Professor Trelawney's head drooped to his chest, making a gurgling sound.

Then, just like last time, she raised her head again.

"Did I fall asleep again?"

She muttered to herself, "Sorry, honey, your test was just now, right? — Oh, I thought you'd get a perfect score —"

I left the prophecy class classroom.

Sheen was preoccupied with something on his mind.

Another prophecy.

The centaur teacher told him that insignificant injuries and trivial accidents are as trivial as ants crawling around in the vast universe, and are unaffected by the movement of planets.

Observing the sky is to keep an eye out for important developments in major disasters or changes, as these developments are sometimes indicated in the sky.

Common prophetic magic is essentially a prediction of these major changes in advance.

A blurred dividing line — what returns — the will to obey —

Sheen only knew one thing: if the prophecy's empty rune would shatter, he had better find out the reason for the shattering at the border.

Fortunately, it's raining and foggy today.

After lunch, Sheen finally met the acting professor of Defense Against the Dark Arts during the Defense Against the Dark Arts exam.

He was a man wearing a hood.

-

After Sheen entered the classroom alone, the hooded man quietly lowered his hood.

In this way, Sheen could see that handsome, joyful, and unrestrained face.

He had indeed aged considerably, but no wizard would fail to recognize his face.

"Hello, Mr. Grindelwald."

Sheen greeted him politely out of the blue.
