Chapter 269 Finding People

After Bruce left, Alfred's room fell silent. He sat there, his expression complex, his heart filled with mixed emotions. Countless memories flashed through his mind, recalling everything they had experienced together from Bruce's childhood to the present.

Alfred paced back and forth in the room, his mood growing heavier. The luxurious decorations could not soothe the turmoil in his heart.

Finally, Alfred went to his desk, took out paper and pen, took a deep breath, and began to write a letter. His handwriting was neat and firm, as if every word contained the memories and determination of his entire life.

In the letter, Alfred confessed in detail to all his crimes and emphasized that he had no accomplices: "All the mistakes were made by me alone. Please do not implicate any innocent people. I am willing to bear all the consequences and atone with my death."

After finishing the letter, Alfred took a deep breath, sealed it, and placed it in a conspicuous spot. Then his gaze fell on a pair of trousers rolled up into a long strip on the sofa.

Bruce ordered Harley to get rid of a maid, then walked unsteadily to the window, looked out at the night view, sighed softly, and felt a pang of melancholy.

Even role-playing can no longer satisfy Bruce. Only those fantastical fan-made videos can bring a fleeting thrill, but even that thrill is gradually becoming tedious and weak. Bruce is craving and hoping for something more exciting.

Just then, the door was suddenly pushed open, and Catwoman stepped into the room. Bruce turned around in surprise, looking at her: "Selena? What are you doing here? You're not angry with me anymore?"

Catwoman walked up to Bruce, gently stroking his cheek. Looking at his haggard face, her eyes were filled with heartache. "I heard about Alfred. I never imagined he would choose to commit suicide. Don't be too sad."

Bruce paused, then his eyes flickered with pain and complex emotions. He took a deep breath and said with a disheartened expression:

"Afu was always one of my closest people, and his passing is a huge blow to me."

Catwoman held Bruce's hand and softly comforted him, "I know you're very sad right now, but you have to be strong. Alfred wouldn't want to see you in so much pain. He chose to commit suicide so as not to burden you."

Bruce nodded, his eyes still filled with sorrow:

"I know, but every time I think of him, my heart feels like it's being torn apart. He did so much for me, and I couldn't protect him."

Catwoman gently hugged Bruce and whispered, "You've done everything you could. Now you need to pull yourself together. Alfred's sacrifice can't have been in vain. You have to keep going, for him, and for everyone who loves you."

Bruce slowly raised his head, looking into Catwoman's eyes, which were filled with guilt and pain. He took a deep breath and spoke slowly.

"Thank you, Selena. I'm so sorry for cheating on you. Looking back, I was really terrible. I was drunk and acted impulsively, which is why I did something so wrong. Can you forgive me?"

Catwoman frowned slightly, a complex emotion flashing in her eyes. She didn't respond immediately, but quietly looked at Bruce, waiting for him to continue.

"I've changed for the better," Bruce continued, his voice filled with remorse and sincerity. "Alfred's departure made me realize a lot of things. I know I hurt you and disappointed you, but I hope you can give me another chance to prove myself. I really hope we can start over."

Catwoman remained silent, simply watching Bruce. She was torn, caught between anger and pain over Bruce's past betrayal and sympathy for his current sorrow and remorse. She knew Bruce had just lost Alfred, a devastating blow to him. Seeing his pained state, her heart softened.

"Selena," Bruce said, his voice choked with emotion, his eyes filled with expectation and trepidation, "I truly regret what I did before. I'm willing to do anything to make up for my mistakes. Please forgive me and give me another chance."

Catwoman said hesitantly, "Bruce, you know how much I trusted you and loved you. Your betrayal has caused me immense pain, but seeing you like this now, it's hard for me to continue blaming you."

A glimmer of hope flashed in Bruce's eyes as he gripped Catwoman's hand tightly: "Selena, I swear I will cherish this opportunity and never let you down again."

Catwoman looked intently at Bruce, tears welling in her eyes. She sighed softly and finally nodded. "Bruce, I'm willing to give you one more chance. But remember, this is the last chance. If you disappoint me again, it will truly be over between us."

Bruce hugged Catwoman tightly, tears of gratitude glistening in his eyes. "Thank you, Selena. I will never let you down again. I will spend the rest of my life making amends for my mistakes and proving my love for you."

After deciding to stay for the time being, Catwoman began directing the maids to clean and arrange the room:

"Move that sofa out and replace it with the purple velvet sofa I like. The Van Gogh painting hangs on the east side; remember to adjust the lighting to make sure the colors of the painting appear brighter at night."

The maids quickly sprang into action according to the catwoman's instructions, some moving furniture, others hanging murals, and the entire room was transformed under the catwoman's direction.

Bruce watched all this, then took the opportunity to pull Harley aside and whispered to her, "Euclid Wood, I need you to find a man who is good at playing cards and looks a lot like Xiao Xian as soon as possible. I have a very important use for him."

After hearing this, Harley pretended to be troubled and said, "That's hard to find, Mr. Bruce. Putting aside how to know if someone is good at playing cards, looking so much like Xiao Xian is too difficult. He's the most handsome man in the world. Can plastic surgery do it? It might take a while."

Bruce, upon hearing this, also felt that his demands might be a bit too high, so he said...

"Forget about plastic surgery, I need it urgently. Makeup will do. As for your card skills, you can find a few more and have someone test them out. Remember, this matter must not leave any evidence or leverage, otherwise, Afu's fate today will be your tomorrow."

Upon hearing this, Harley feigned fear and said, "I understand, Mr. Bruce. I will do my best to find him and I promise I won't let you down."

Bruce nodded in satisfaction: "Good, be very careful with this. And absolutely do not let Selena know. Don't worry, I will definitely reward you handsomely after this is done."
