Chapter 35 Maturity and Immaturity
Cheng Sui, carrying her bag, followed behind Professor Mans, her eyes curiously looking around.
"Is this your first time going abroad, junior brother?" Aki walked behind Cheng and asked curiously when she saw Cheng looking around.
"If we don't count the journey from the orphanage to Kassel College, this is indeed the first time."
Ye Sheng walked at the back and said lazily, "When you join the executive department and travel all over the world, you'll find that traveling abroad isn't so bad after all, and it even becomes uninteresting. Sure enough, anything becomes boring when it becomes work."
"If I don't do well in this internship, I might not even graduate, let alone get a job in the executive department."
"With your natural talent for slaying dragons, how could the principal possibly let you go? It would be difficult for you not to join the executive department."
Cheng Sui shrugged: "Why do you make it sound like I'm a relative?"
Following Professor Mans, the group disembarked from the plane and entered the airport. Not long after, they saw a room marked with green lights.
Have a pleasant journey.
The beautiful European girl with delicate, three-dimensional features smiled sweetly at Cheng Sui and handed him two forms.
Cheng Sui took the forms and looked at them. One was an entry permit, and the other was a hotel check-in voucher.
"With these two documents, we can check into the airport hotel for free. Let's drop off our luggage at the hotel first, and then take a taxi to the Giza pyramid complex. I've wanted to see the Great Pyramid of Giza for a long time." Professor Mans walked in front, somewhat impatiently.
Cheng Sui and the others exchanged smiles and followed Professor Mans's footsteps.
Professor Mans appears to be a very serious German, giving the first impression of being meticulous and aloof, but once you get to know him, you'll find that he's a very approachable elder.
The group had just come out of the airport terminal when they happened to run into the hotel's shuttle bus.
"Professor, didn't you say you had a contact person? Where is he?" Cheng Sui helped Aki Jiu carry her luggage onto the bus, and Aki smiled and expressed her gratitude.
Ye Sheng boarded the bus and found a comfortable seat: "I heard that his son is sick, and he can't be without Asvin for a while."
"Can mixed-race people also get human diseases?" Cheng Sui asked, as he hadn't been sick once in the past three years.
Aki casually found a spot to sit down and stretched.
Ye Sheng "casually" sat down next to her: "I won't get some minor illnesses, like colds or fevers, but serious illnesses don't discriminate between humans and mixed races. Besides, the sons of us street people aren't necessarily mixed races."
After chatting with the bus driver, Professor Mans walked over with a smile: "The offspring of a hybrid are not necessarily hybrids. Bloodlines are a very mysterious thing. We have studied hybrids for thousands of years but still don't understand them. Even two hybrids with stable bloodlines can produce dangerous hybrids."
Cheng Sui nodded without speaking, turning his head to stare blankly at the scenery outside the car window.
Outside the car window, traffic flowed endlessly, with horse-drawn carriages, bicycles, and motorcycles appearing on the same street at the same time. Shops lined both sides of the street, selling various handicrafts and souvenirs such as papyrus paintings and hookahs.
Ancient buildings of unknown age stand side by side, with tourists coming and going under the magnificent archways, creating a scene of prosperity.
A little girl on the street was holding flowers and asking passersby if they wanted to buy one. Aki pointed at the little girl through the car window and said with a smile:
"When I was little, my sister and I did the same thing. We would ask passersby on the streets of Kyoto if they wanted to buy flowers. My sister would take 60% of the money and I would take 40%. Because my sister was pretty and good at talking, she sold almost all the flowers. I would immediately run to a dessert shop to buy something to eat, while my sister would save it."
Ye Sheng shifted his gaze from the car window to Aki's face, looking at the faint smile on the girl's lips: "You have an older sister, I've never heard you mention her before."
Aki lowered her eyes. "My father was an alcoholic, and my sister would argue with him. Later, that man sold my sister to a ninja family for money to pay for her alcohol. I was kept behind because I was timid and obedient."
The bus fell silent. Aki subtly tugged at the hem of her shirt, as if she had made the atmosphere awkward again...
"A ninja, huh? Pretty cool. I've heard ninjas are really good at hiding. Maybe your sister has already noticed you and is watching you from the shadows." Ye Sheng waved his hand, pretending to be a ninja, and stared at Aki with his head down.
Aki turned to look at Ye Sheng, who had messed things up. The boy had delicate features but also a flamboyant air about him, and Aki couldn't help but smile.
The bus arrived at the hotel, which was quite basic. Cheng and his group left their luggage at the hotel and rented a car at the entrance to head straight for the Giza pyramid complex.
After refusing the driver's recommended charter service, the group got out of the car.
Shudeya volunteered to buy tickets, and after taking everyone's passports, she went to the ticket office.
Professor Mans spotted the camel-renting merchant in the distance at a glance. He told Cheng Sui and Ye Sheng, "Don't move here," and went straight to the merchant to rent camels.
Cheng Sui took a bite of the Tamiya he had just bought. It is a classic Egyptian street food made from ground broad beans, onions and spices, rolled into small balls and deep-fried. It is crispy on the outside and tender on the inside, and is served with pita bread and dipping sauce.
"Are you planning to continue like this?" Cheng Sui asked.
Ye Sheng leaned against the railing, looking at Jiu Deyaji who was running to buy tickets and Professor Mans who was negotiating with the camels not far away. Professor Mans was not by his side, but he did not shy away from this feeling.
Ye Sheng said softly, "Do you know? The Execution Department doesn't allow couples to go on missions together. If partners are found to be a couple, they will be separated immediately."
Ye Sheng stared at the back of the girl, Jiu Deya. The girl he had always called a short-legged ugly duckling had legs that were not short at all, nor were they ugly. On the contrary, the girl was stunningly beautiful, a beauty that captivated Ye Sheng's youth.
"I want to spend more time with her and carry out missions together. Maybe I'll express my feelings after I leave the execution department someday."
"The reason the executive department stipulates that couples cannot act together is because they are worried that the impulse of love will outweigh rational judgment. If a crisis really occurs, can you guarantee that you will remain calm at all times?"
Ye Sheng shook his head: "I can't guarantee it, but if that situation really happens, I will do everything in my power to let Aki go first, even if the price is my life."
After buying the ticket, Jiu Deya waved to Ye Sheng, her smile bright and sweet.
Ye Sheng smiled back and gave Aki a thumbs-up from afar.
"In essence, these two choices are the same, just a matter of maturity versus naivety. Being a friend who can stay with you for a long time is from an adult perspective; your happiness is enough. Being a lover for a short time is a fleeting blossoming in the name of youthful passion. If it were you, which would you choose?"
Cheng Sui fell silent. If it were him, he wouldn't know what to choose either.
A gust of wind blew by, and the sand it stirred up made Cheng Sui squint.
Ye Sheng smiled as he watched Aki run towards him, her black hair fluttering in the desert wind.
