Chapter 70: Opening the Champagne (Seeking First Subscription)

The waiter hurried back from the back and whispered a few words in the bartender's ear.

The bartender frowned, turned around, and picked up the phone on the bar counter.

"This is the Higanbana Club. Is this the Asahi Group?" The bartender made the call. "There's someone we don't recognize selling merchandise here. Yes, he's in a private room—he hasn't left yet. Okay, okay, we'll definitely keep an eye on him."

The bartender hung up the phone, glanced coldly at the private room where Cheng Sui was, and ordered the waiter next to him: "Keep an eye on them, don't let them leave, the Asahi Group is coming soon."

"Hai!" The waiter bowed and accepted the order.

Neon lights flashed in the nightclub, and men and women swayed their bodies to the rhythm in the center of the dance floor. By day they were refined and serious white-collar workers, but at night they put on their most beautiful clothes and let loose the emotions they had suppressed during the day.

Cheng Sui frowned as he listened to the loud electronic music outside the private room and said, "How can they stay in a nightclub all night? I was driven crazy by this music in just five minutes."

"That's because you're not old enough yet. When you start working and face crazy bosses every day, you'll understand them." Crow ordered champagne and snacks, rolled up his shirt sleeves, and said, "I almost forgot you're a specialist at headquarters. You'll probably never experience what it's like to be a white-collar worker."

"You talk like you've actually experienced it," Cheng Sui retorted. "By the way, why did you order champagne? Aren't we pretending to be here to spend money?"

The crow flashed his signature sly smile and adjusted his glasses: "Champagne represents victory; this is a good omen bought with money."

"Where we're from, we have a saying that opening champagne at halftime is a bad omen," Cheng Sui shrugged. "You haven't even reached halftime, and you're already opening champagne at the start."

"With you here, surely the specialists at headquarters can't even take down a small gang?" Crow's words were loaded with meaning. Although the boss had recruited Cheng Sui, he was still somewhat unaccustomed to having people from headquarters involved in Japanese affairs.

"After all, this is the city center. It's not right to resort to violence. I'm a model young person of the new era."

"We've seen the video of you dealing with the biker gang; your words aren't very convincing."

"They're here." Sakura suddenly spoke, glancing at the door to the private room, her eyes instantly transforming into those of the somewhat shy girl from before.

The speed of the switch left Cheng Sui somewhat speechless.

The nightclub door was pushed open, and three men in black, their faces cold, pushed through the crowded people.

The men and women who were being shoved turned around in displeasure, but when they saw the red tattoo on the man in black's neck, they reluctantly withdrew their anger.

They knew these were gang members who managed the area, and they prayed in their hearts for the guy who was about to be taught a lesson, wondering which unruly fellow would suffer today.

Guided by the waiter, the man in black arrived at the door of the private room. After exchanging a glance, he knocked on the door with his finger.

Cheng Sui, who was in the private room, was a little surprised. He had thought that these people would just barge in through the door, but he didn't expect them to do it in such a civilized way.

Crow gestured for Cheng Sui to sit down, took a few pills from his pocket and threw them on the table, then got up and opened the door:

Three men in black stood side by side in front of the door, completely blocking it and obscuring the bright lights of the hall.

It felt incredibly oppressive.

"Excuse me—excuse me." The short waitress, carrying an iron bucket, spoke softly; she appeared to be a female student working part-time.

The man in black turned to the side, and the girl squeezed through the gap, the ice in the iron bucket making a clattering sound.

After placing the ice bucket on the table, the girl ran away as if fleeing, leaving the private room to the man in black.

The leader of the men in black stepped into the room, first looking at the pills on the table, then his gaze immediately locked onto Crow. He subconsciously ignored Sakura and Cheng Sui, who looked like students. Cheng Sui noticed an unnatural bulge at his waist, which meant he was carrying a gun.

The man in black behind them closed the door behind them as he entered, and locked it from the inside.

Cheng Sui nodded: "He's quite sensible; he knows to lock the door."

Then Cheng Sui looked at the iron bucket, where champagne was lying in ice, and a sharp ice shaver was placed on top of the ice.

"Friend, are you from the Toyotomi Clan?" The leader of the men in black sat opposite the three crows, legs crossed, revealing tattoos beneath his sleeves, and asked in a low voice, "Didn't we agree before that this area was under our jurisdiction?"

The man in black spoke in a calm tone, yet one could sense the anger beneath it.

Crow pulled a cigarette from his pocket and put it in his mouth. "What bullshit Toyotomi Group? Never heard of it."

The tattooed man to the left of the man in black couldn't hold back any longer and slammed his hand on the table: "Don't you know this is Asahi-gumi territory?"

The tattooed bastard had a hoarse voice with a distinct final "r" sound, clearly indicating that he frequently engaged in intimidation.

The crow couldn't help but laugh, because he remembered the scene of that idiot Yaksha learning to roll his tongue for the first time, and he almost spat his saliva all over his boss's face.

The tattooed man's forehead veins bulged as he stepped forward, ready to teach the bespectacled man a lesson.

"How old are you to still use tongue flicking to scare people? I haven't used that trick since I graduated high school," Crow said casually, a cigarette dangling from his lips.

"May I ask who you are?" the man in black asked cautiously, his back hunched.

"It's from the same clan," the crow replied.

The henchmen behind the man in black sneered. In a place like Mitaka City, the probability of encountering law enforcement officers from their own clan was lower than winning the lottery.

The man in black looked at Cheng Sui and Ying, his conviction growing stronger. What kind of official from the main branch of the law enforcement would lead a student on a mission? This guy was probably a street thug in disguise, trying to put on a brave face, but of all people to impersonate, he had to impersonate the least likely member of the main branch.

"Quickly light a cigarette for our esteemed relative," the man in black ordered his henchmen.

The man in black's right-hand follower smiled, took out a brass lighter, and bent down to light the crow.

The crow raised an eyebrow, sensing what was about to happen, but he still poked his head out to get closer to the fire with a blank expression.

He was one of Genjiro's men, and even if someone pointed a gun at his forehead, he would still stick his head out.

As a retainer of Genjiro, he even hesitates to let someone light his cigarette. Wouldn't that bring shame to his young master if word got out?

The moment the crow poked its head out, the henchman's hand, hidden behind his back, suddenly reached for the ice bucket!

"Bang!"

Amidst the crisp sound of shattered ice flying, Cheng Sui moved as fast as a shadow.

No one saw how he grabbed the ice shaving knife from the ice bucket; all they heard was the dull thud of a tendon snapping, and the tattooed man's thumb had rolled into the ice bucket, blood trickling down the side.

"Well-"

The scream was abruptly cut off as Cheng Sui stuffed a handful of ice shards into his mouth, the ice fragments mixed with blood and foam spilling out from between his teeth.

Immediately following was a loud "bang," as the champagne bottle slammed precisely onto the forehead of another henchman.

The pale yellow liquor mixed with glass shards splashed out, tracing shimmering arcs under the crystal chandelier, each shard reflecting Cheng Sui's expressionless face.

The man in black looked terrified and quickly reached for the pistol at his waist.

The pistol at his waist had barely been drawn half an inch when a red flash ripped through the air like lightning!

Cheng Sui drew the Kirei-maru sword hidden in his hoodie, pinning the black-clad man's hand, which was reaching for a gun, to the marble table. The end of the sword hilt trembled violently from the immense force.

The whole process took less than half a second; the crow didn't even have time to realize what was happening.

Cheng Sui picked up the brass lighter from the ground, tossed it next to the convulsing man in black, and nodded at him with his chin.

"Aren't you going to light it?" Cheng Sui asked casually. "Go ahead and light it."
