Chapter 88 Angers' Decision

The rain fell like a waterfall, shrouding the world in a gray haze.

Cheng Sui slowly sheathed his sword, and the crimson Sharingan in his eyes disappeared.

He looked around and saw that the warehouse had been turned into a scene of carnage, with twisted tree branches and mangled corpses intertwined, and blood mixed with rainwater meandering into streams on the ground.

He had expected to be moved by the loss of hundreds of lives, but he felt nothing at all, as if he had just wiped out not hundreds of lives, but some annoying insects.

With a long sigh, Cheng Sui approached the head of the king.

Even with his head severed, the eerie man showed no fear on his face, as if death was nothing more than a trivial matter to him.

Picking up the head, Cheng Sui examined it closely and was somewhat surprised.

He had initially thought the black-robed man's mask was worn on his face, but now he realized that the eerie and unsettling mask fit perfectly against the man's face, as if it were an extension of his own.

Cheng Sui couldn't even find a place where he could use his fingers to grip the mask.

With his fingers digging deep into her flesh, Cheng Sui forcefully tore the mask off.

But the sight beneath the mask made Cheng Sui's pupils shrink slightly.

Beneath the mask was not the human face Cheng Sui had imagined, but a horrifying sight of bare muscle tissue without skin; the mask had somehow grown directly into his face.

Cheng Sui couldn't help but feel a chill run down his spine. What kind of monster was this? Was the Fierce Ghost Clan actually led by something like this?

However, even the strangest thing is now separated from its head.

Faced with absolute power, all schemes seem superfluous.

After putting away the official mask, Cheng Sui turned to leave. The commotion caused by the Hell's Chaos was too great, and the Metropolitan Police Department might come at any moment. Although Cheng Sui was not afraid, he did not want to cause any more trouble, especially since he was still a wanted criminal.

Just then, Cheng Sui caught a glimpse of something familiar out of the corner of his eye, which made him stop in his tracks.

At this moment, the warehouse was completely invaded by twisted and swirling branches, with hundreds of corpses wrapped among them. A corpse next to Cheng Sui was slumped on a branch, its chest pierced by a sharp branch, its arm hanging limply at its side.

Cheng Sui saw the tattoo on the corpse's wrist; it was a red demon with bared fangs.

Cheng Sui remembered this tattoo; Crow had once introduced him to the tattoo symbols of the Snake Clan.

Someone from the Inuyama family?

With a light swipe of his longsword, Cheng Sui severed the arm at the root, taking the official's mask with him, before disappearing into the torrential rain.

Kassel College, Executive Department.

A dozen or so specialists stood around the large screen, their expressions grim, as if facing a formidable enemy.

Schneider stood before the crowd, his brow furrowed, staring at the email on his computer screen whose IP address originated from Japan.

"Have you confirmed the source of the email?" His voice was hoarse and cold.

"The email went through multiple server redirects before it was sent. Currently, we can only confirm that the sender's address originated in Japan; we are working to decipher it."

"Confirmed! The sender was an internet cafe in Shinjuku, Japan. It must really be a request for help from headquarters staff, otherwise those people in the Japanese branch wouldn't need to send emails from an internet cafe—" a boy in the front row replied.

Schneider gave the boy in the front row a cold look, silencing his analysis.

He needs people who can report the situation objectively, not these self-righteous specialists who add their own subjective judgments, especially since this person uses words like "should" and "may".

As the intelligence department of the executive branch, it is required to provide information that is 100% certain. Even if there is only one percent uncertainty, the information must not be provided to the frontline agents. This is an ironclad rule that Schneider established after returning from the Greenland ice sea.

"Perhaps we can try replying, or request a video call to confirm—" another person suggested in a low voice.

"No one is allowed to respond until it is confirmed that this email was not forged by the Japanese branch," Schneider coldly ordered.

"But what if we miss the nearest rescue opportunity—"

"Deceiving the enemy into taking action through cunning schemes, then posing as victims. Using the guise of justice to carry out vile acts of aggression is a consistent tactic of the Japanese," Schneider's face remained calm as ice, but his clenched fists betrayed his inner turmoil. "We cannot take this risk."

"Ta-da~"

The sound of leather shoes stepping on the wooden floor was clearly audible to everyone present.

Angers walked in through the door, dressed in a well-tailored Italian suit, with a pair of amber glasses perched on his high nose and a warm smile on his face.

The Italian-style suit's unpadded shoulder design allows the shoulder line to drape naturally, while the perfectly tailored waist accentuates the elderly man's upright figure. A subtle burgundy handkerchief peeks out from the breast pocket, echoing the polished brown loafers. Elegance and languor are perfectly combined in this elderly man.

The old man attracted everyone's attention as soon as he appeared. The tense and oppressive atmosphere was greatly relieved by his arrival, as if all the problems could be solved as soon as he came.

Schneider looked at Angers, his deep voice coming from beneath his black breathing mask: "Your dispatched agent is currently requesting assistance from headquarters, but you seem completely unfazed."

"Rescue?" Angers looked puzzled. "Who sent the rescue, Cheng Suiyao?"

"We're not sure yet; it's possible it was forged by the Japanese branch," Schneider replied.

Angers walked over to him with a smile, looked up at the large screen, and whispered in a voice only Schneider could hear, "You know that the real purpose of sending Cheng Sui to Japan was to deter those restless mixed-race people there. Isn't this the perfect opportunity?"

Schneider turned to look at him, his eyes filled with disbelief. He lowered his voice and spoke in a hoarse tone, his voice laced with anger: "Do you know what you're doing? If they're really in danger, you're putting their lives at risk."

Angers still wore a smile as he stared intently at the electronic screen. Schneider could sense a fiercely burning flame flickering in those aged but bright eyes.

"Finger was our best comrade, and I believe he will turn the tide. As for Cheng Sui—" Angers paused, as if pondering, "I was able to conquer Japanese mixed-race people when I was young, and I believe he can too."

"But you were already over sixty years old at the time, while he was only twenty." Schneider could barely contain his voice. "I know you sent him to Japan to hone his skills, but as the head of the executive department, I couldn't just watch the commissioner get into danger like that."

"Don't reveal my age like that, it makes me feel like I'm out of touch with the times," Angers said with a wry smile.

"You know I'm not joking with you—"

“Seven days,” Angers interrupted Schneider by holding up a finger. “I will personally go to Japan in seven days. They will have to rely on themselves during these seven days. This is my test for them.”

"But he's going to be fighting against all of Japan's mixed-race population."

"From now on, he will be fighting against the entire dragon race," Angers said calmly.

Schneider stared blankly at Angers. He thought he hated dragons enough, but the old man's burning anger far surpassed his own.

Angers' hatred was like a furnace fire burning in coal; he wanted to consume not only himself but also everything else.

"What if Cheng Sui dies in Japan?" Schneider's voice was hoarse.

"He's a good kid, I reckon he'll have a hangover tonight," Angers blinked, speaking casually, "and then he'll focus all his efforts on nurturing our S-class students who haven't even enrolled yet."

Schneider fell silent. He knew that once Angers made a decision, no one could change it. Now, all he could do was hope that Cheng Sui and Fingel could make it through the next seven days.

However, neither Angers, Schneider, nor any of the specialists in the command center noticed.

A hidden data stream, centered on Norma, is silently traversing the network and speeding toward Japan.
