Chapter 432 Lei Yi—Come with me!
Chapter 432 Lei Yi—Come with me!
Three days later, the morning light shone through the stained-glass windows and onto the chart in the Star Crown Palace council chamber.
Youlun tapped his knuckles on the glass coordinates marking the other two cities, producing a crisp echo. "The other two cities, still no response?" He glanced at Luo Xiong, who was standing bowing to the side.
Luo Xiong's sleeve twitched slightly, and he said calmly, "The messenger has not yet returned. It is only natural to take a few more days to consider such a life-or-death matter."
Euron laughed and said, "I'm impatient and can't wait. It seems I'll have to go and invite them myself."
Euron strode out of the council chamber and stopped on the terrace where the sea breeze was blowing. He put two fingers to his lips and blew a sharp whistle that tore through the air.
Before the whistle had even faded, a thunderous roar, capable of shattering metal and splitting stone, suddenly echoed from the clouds in response. The next moment, the enormous figure of the shadowy long-winged dragon "Flying Shadow" tore through the clouds, swooping down like a giant black arrow released from a bow, the air currents whipped up by its wings causing the flags in the courtyard to flutter violently.
The colossal beast landed precisely beside Euron, its bone-armored head bowing obediently, its heavy breathing sending up white mist on the stone slabs. Euron raised a hand to stroke its cold scales, and with a light leap, landed on Flying Shadow's back.
Euron gently patted the dragon's neck and whispered, "Go!"
The Shadow Wyvern let out a deafening roar, its hind legs slamming into the ground, its massive wings whipping up a gale that carried Euron into the sky.
After circling briefly in the air, Fei Ying transformed into a black lightning bolt that tore through the clouds, hurtling towards Lei Yi, a major port city in the north primarily inhabited by barbarians. Beneath its dragon wings, the entire city of Lei Yi rapidly shrank, resembling a model on a sand table.
When news of the fall of Leymar and the capture of the Queen reached Leymar, Lord Hayhan's reaction was not one of loyalty to the monarch.
In his panic, the city lord's first thought was how to protect his vast fortune. He quickly packed all the gold, silver, valuables, jewels, and deeds he could carry, filling ten large chests. Under the escort of a group of trusted guards, he hastily boarded his fastest private ship, attempting to escape back to his homeland in the chaos.
Inside the port, there were quite a few ships with the same idea, scrambling to escape, crowding the waterway.
As soon as a flagship sailed away from the shore and entered slightly deeper waters, the seawater below exploded as if boiling!
The long-lurking giant sea monster, the "Skeletonid Sea Centipede," suddenly thrust its pale, ferocious head out, its gaping maw like an abyss.
Under the watchful eyes of countless terrified people, the ship, brimming with barbarians trying to escape Lei Yi, was swept away by the sea.
The centipede swallowed it whole, not even a speck of wood remained on the surface. The terrifying appearance of the jointed sea centipede swam across the sea, and those who were still on the boat jumped overboard to escape.
Since that horrific scene, no ship in the entire port of Lei Yi has dared to set sail and leave the shore.
An invisible fear, like the strongest chain, firmly locked this prosperous port to the shore.
A thunderous roar, powerful enough to shatter clouds and split rocks, suddenly erupted, its sound waves sweeping across the entire city of Lei Yi like a tangible wave.
At first, it was just a distant black dot piercing the clouds. Then the shadow rapidly magnified, its outline becoming clear—
It was an unimaginably enormous creature. When its wings were fully extended, it seemed to tear a hole in the sky. The veins on its leathery wings were ferocious, and each slow flap brought up a hurricane carrying the smell of sulfur.
A massive shadow then descended, like a curtain falling on the apocalypse. Sunlight was instantly swallowed up, and daylight turned into a gloomy twilight. The shadow spread over the towering city walls, over the crisscrossing streets and alleys, over the temple spires, coldly and silently covering the entire city.
Fear grows wildly in the shadows.
"A dragon! It's a dragon—!"
------------------
A piercing scream shattered the brief silence, like the flipping of a switch. The street erupted in chaos. People swarmed out of houses, shops, and markets like startled ants, fleeing blindly. Mothers clung tightly to their terrified children, stumbling towards the nearest rooftop; merchants abandoned their wares and ran for their lives; the sounds of horses' hooves, cries, and the clatter of shattering objects blended into a symphony of despair.
An old man slumped in the middle of the street, looking up at the overwhelming presence, his cloudy eyes filled with awe and fear, his lips trembling but unable to utter a sound.
The entire Lei Yi trembled under the cover of these two giant wings.
As the shadow of the dragon loomed over the city like an iron curtain, a figure leaped from the edge of the dragon's back.
Euron's robes fluttered in the gale, yet he did not fall like a meteorite. Beneath his feet, the air twisted and condensed eerily, forming the silhouette of a semi-transparent giant—the ancient wind spirit summoned by the Soul-Soul Fruit, "Berova." Air currents surged and swirled within it, emitting a low groan, lifting its creator suspended in mid-air, level with the dragon's ferocious head.
Euron spoke. His voice wasn't loud, but it was like a meticulously sharpened blade, piercing through the lingering screams and whispers of the wind in the streets, clearly etching itself into the depths of every trembling soul.
"I am Euron Greyjoy," Euron declared, each word carrying a chilling weight, "ruler of the Isle of Thunder."
Euron's gaze slowly swept over the trembling city beneath his feet, finally settling on the tallest tower in the city center. "Lord Haihan of Lei Yi City, come out to see me."
As Euron's voice, like a cold spiderweb, enveloped the entire city lord's mansion, Haihan peered out through the cracks in the glass window.
The sound wasn't loud, but it made Haihan stagger and almost collapse to the ground.
Haihan clung tightly to the heavy curtains, his whole body trembling uncontrollably, like a leaf withering in the cold wind.
"He's here—he's really here—" he murmured, his voice filled with despair. "What should we do?"
In the shadows, the old butler, who had served for many years, slowly stepped forward.
The old butler gazed at the figure suspended beneath the dragon's shadow outside the window. His wrinkled face showed no surprise, only a weariness he had long anticipated. He sighed softly, a sigh carrying too many unspoken words.
"A few days ago, the Queen secretly ordered you to go to Ray-Ma—to surrender the city." The old steward's voice was low and hoarse as he said, "At that time, the situation was unclear, and we still held onto a glimmer of hope. Now it seems—the rumors were all true."
"The Lord of the Iron Islands, the Lord of the Sea Beasts, has already conquered Rey-Mae by means we cannot even imagine, and even Her Majesty the Queen—has fallen into his control."
"He's here!" Haihan whirled around, his face deathly pale, repeating only the same phrase, "What do we do?!"
The old butler's cloudy yet still clear eyes watched him silently, his gaze seemingly piercing through all panic, reaching the very core of cruel reality. He remained silent for a moment before speaking, "Go out to see him, sir. Maintain your last shred of dignity, and be absolutely respectful. Things have come to this; if he wants to take your life, we are powerless to stop him." He slightly raised his hand, pointing to the heavy door leading to the square, as heavy as fate itself. "Go with him to Rema. This is an order, and it is—our only way out."
The heavy gates of the mansion were pushed open with great effort by two guards, making a jarring creaking sound.
Haihan stumbled into the square, the blinding sunlight and the oppressive feeling from the crouching dragon causing his legs to buckle instantly. With a thud, his knees slammed heavily onto the cold stone slabs, his body curling up in extreme fear.
"I—I have been eager to go to Rema for pilgrimage ever since I received the Queen's order," he said, his voice trembling and almost incoherent. "But the seas near the coast are blocked by sea monsters, and the waves are treacherous. I—I dare not risk my life and delay my journey. I deserve to die for this—" He bowed his head, not daring to look up, awaiting his fate.
Euron looked down at him as if he were an ant. He casually waved his hand, interrupting Haihan's stammering explanation, his tone languid and indifferent: "Oh, that's understandable."
"In that case, come with me."
Haihan was startled, seemingly not expecting his opponent to let him go so "easily." Before he could react further, Euron, supported by the wind element "Berova," landed gently like a feather, his boots touching the ground without making a sound. The enormous dragon "Flying Shadow" obediently lowered its head, affectionately approaching its master, its breath stirring up a small cloud of dust.
Euron stretched out his arm and grabbed Haihan by the back of his neck and collar. The movement was not rough, but like a hawk seizing its prey. Haihan was still in a daze when he felt a tremendous force, his feet instantly leaving the ground, and in a dizzying moment, he was lifted up lightly.
"Ugh!" he cried out in surprise as he was thrown onto Feiying's broad back, which was covered in hard scales. He tried to grab onto something to prevent himself from slipping, but all he touched were cold, rough dragon scales, which froze him in shock.
Euron landed lightly behind him, without even glancing at the city lord.
"Hiei, go to Lei Ma."
The dragon let out a deep roar, its powerful hind legs slammed into the ground, and its huge wings spread out with a roar, stirring up a gust of wind that carried sand and stones.
Under the watchful eyes of countless terrified figures in Lei Yi City, the shadow rose once more, carrying the city's former masters and new conquerors, transforming into a black dot in the sky as it sped toward Lei Ma.
