Chapter 45 targets

Two captains were already waiting in front of the castle.

"Whoosh!" "Whoosh!" "Whoosh!"

A series of streaks of light descended, revealing members of the Bauhinia Army. They stood outside the castle and quickly surrounded it.

"Vice Commander Anhela, the Commander is waiting for you inside. Please come in," said the two captains outside the castle gate.

Angela entered the castle, with Suria and the others following behind her, but they were stopped by two captains.

"What? We can't go in?" Suria frowned.

"Brother, it's the Legion Commander's order. Only Lord Angela and Jeg are allowed to enter." The captain at the door smiled wryly.

"Captain, it's alright," Jag said to Suria.

Suria patted Jag on the shoulder: "Don't worry, with Lady Angela here, nothing will happen. There are also many people in the legion who support you."

Jag nodded.

He glanced at the members of the Bauhinia Army watching outside and spotted Talib in the crowd, who gave him a supportive look.

Many people nodded at him.

Although he didn't stay at the Bauhinia Army headquarters for long, he became known to many people because of his crazy challenges to squad leaders and battalion commanders.

Compared to Bernard, the members of the Bauhinia Army were clearly more inclined to side with Jag.

Of course, there were also those who were simply watching the spectacle, or even those who were gloating.

Having joined the Bauhinia Army for only a few hundred years, he rose from an ordinary soldier to a squad leader. Even though he rose to his position through merit, it still aroused jealousy among some people who wished for him to be punished.

Jag entered the castle.

Upon entering the castle gate, there is a huge entrance hall. Passing through the entrance hall, there is a long corridor with many oil paintings hanging on both sides. At the end of the corridor, there is a magnificent hall.

In the main hall sat a handsome young man dressed in a purple-gold robe, with black hair that reached his waist, and eyes as deep as two black holes, as if swallowing everything.

He is Asel, the corps commander of the Bauhinia Army.

This was the first time Jeger had met the commander of the Bauhinia Army. Although he had never seen the man make a move, he knew that as the commander of the Bauhinia Army, his strength was certainly not comparable to that of an ordinary commander.

Besides Asel, there were two other middle-aged men in the hall. One of them was wearing a blue robe, his chin slightly raised, and his eyes occasionally revealed an undisguised arrogance.

Jag recognized the man as Bernard's father, Andre, an elder of the Four Divine Beasts family.

The middle-aged man next to Andrei wore a long purple robe embroidered with gold from the Bauhinia Army, and his dazzling golden hair was like the sun. He was another deputy commander of the Bauhinia Army, "Roy".

All three high-ranking officers of the Bauhinia Army—one legion commander and two deputy legion commanders—were present.

"Commander, Jag and I are back," Angela said.

"Angela, you've worked hard. Please sit down over there," Asel said with a smile.

Three seats had been prepared to Acel’s left. Andrei and Roy each took one, and the last one was reserved for Angela.

Only Jage stood alone in the center of the hall.

Angela frowned, sensing something was amiss, but given the current situation, she couldn't say anything.

"Jeg, right?" Asel smiled.

"Yes," Jag replied calmly.

"Today's main topic is about you and the Bernard family of the Four Divine Beasts. Roy, you tell us what's going on." Asel looked at Roy, the vice-captain, who was standing to the side.

"Yes, Commander."

Roy looked at Jag.

"The Legion Commander and I have already heard about what happened from Elder Andre of the Four Divine Beasts Clan. Jag, you already have the strength of a commander, which is remarkable. I never expected that such an outstanding genius would emerge from our Purple Thorn Army. With your current strength, you are fully capable of serving as a battalion commander or even a deputy legion commander," Roy said.

Jag didn't speak; he felt that Asel hadn't asked Roy to speak in order to praise him.

"but--"

Sure enough, Roy changed his tone, his voice becoming colder.

"With your strength, you should have been able to easily subdue Kent and Bernard of the Four Divine Beasts families. Why did you kill them?"

Upon hearing Roy's words, Angela sensed something was wrong. He hadn't expected Roy to immediately interrogate Jag. He immediately stood up: "Roy, this isn't Jag's fault!"

"Angela, sit down and don't speak," Asel said calmly.

He glanced at Angela, a smile still playing on his lips, but coldness lurking in his eyes.

Angela's heart sank.

"Why?" Jag asked. "They wanted to kill me, so I killed them. It's that simple."

Juggernaut's voice echoed through the hall.

Asel looked down at Jage, who met his gaze directly without flinching.

"Heh." Asel laughed, his smile filled with a chilling coldness.

Roy scoffed, "Commander, I don't think he's any longer repentant!"

"I did nothing wrong, what is there to repent for?" Jag sneered.

"You've caused the Legion so much trouble, and you still say you're blameless?" Roy suddenly stood up. "I think we need to destroy your strongest divine avatar first before you'll realize just how much trouble you've caused."

"Roy, are you going to attack one of your own people in the Legion?" Angela shouted.

"Angela, it's not that I want to take action, it's that he violated the rules of the Bauhinia Army!" Roy said.

"Oh? Killing Bernard is a violation of military regulations? Was Bernard a member of the Bauhinia Army? Or is there some rule in the Bauhinia Army that says you can't fight back if someone comes to kill you? How come I didn't know that?" Jag asked.

"The most important rule of the Bauhinia Army is to obey orders. I am the deputy legion commander. How dare you offend me and say you haven't violated military regulations?" Roy glared at Jag, his long golden hair flying wildly, like an angry lion king.

"I know that the Bauhinia Army has another crucial rule: the strong rise to the top. If I am stronger than you, then wouldn't you be the one violating military regulations and clashing with your superiors?" Jagger said.

"Arrogant!" Roy roared in fury.

"Commander Assel, I am an outsider and should not speak, but I really have to say it."

Andrei suddenly spoke up. He first apologized to Asel, then turned to look at Jeg coldly: "This player named Jeg is so arrogant. If he is not strictly punished, I don't know what kind of trouble he will cause."

Angela said coldly, "Andrei, this is an internal matter of our Bauhinia Army. It has nothing to do with you. Stop interfering."

"Angela, I do think Elder Andrei's words make sense," Asel said calmly.

Angela's expression changed, and she said urgently, "Commander, many brothers in the Bauhinia Army support Jag. If the legion really punishes Jag, many people will have objections."

Before Asel could speak, Roy glanced at Angela and sneered, "Angela, I think you've lost your mind. This is hell, a law of the jungle where the strong prey on the weak. We need to consider the thoughts of our subordinates? Wrong! They should be the ones who listen to us!"

Angela ignored Roy and just looked at Asel. Seeing that Asel did not object to Roy, she understood.

It turns out that everything was already arranged before she and Jag met Asel today!
