Chapter 9: Pursuit and Battle!
Chapter 9: Pursuit and Battle!
The piercing sound of gunfire echoed through the night, bullets whistled past, and scorching heat filled the air.
Logan and the three of them dodged the bullets by falling to the ground.
Although the two Mexicans were surprised by Logan's quick reaction, they were clearly not going to give up so easily.
They quickly turned their guns on the four fallen men and pulled the triggers without hesitation.
Logan's expression changed drastically as he watched the flames shooting out from the dark muzzle of the gun.
All four of them were lying on the ground, unable to make any move to dodge.
In a moment of urgency, Logan caught a glimpse of a nearby trash can and immediately pulled it over to block the view in front of him.
Bang bang bang! !
All the bullets hit the trash can, making a piercing sound.
Fortunately, the other party was using a small-caliber pistol, which was unable to penetrate the trash can filled with garbage, giving the four a brief respite.
"Damn it, Conrad, you said it was safe here!"
Samuel huddled behind the dumpster as much as he could, cursing at Conrad amidst the intense gunfire.
"Fuck! These bastards who only know how to ambush!"
Conrad was already furious, and now that he had been attacked, he desperately needed to vent his boundless anger. He reached for his pistol at his waist, quickly cocked it, and blindly fired it above his head toward the Mexican.
As Conrad angrily fired all the bullets from his pistol, the noise outside gradually subsided.
Logan hunched over and looked down at a piece of glass that had fallen out of the trash can.
The glass reflected two Mexican men running quickly toward the truck.
Seeing this, Logan's heart skipped a beat, and he quickly scrambled to his feet. "Damn it, their target is that shipment!"
This was not a regular highway robbery, but a premeditated interception of goods!
Logan was unwilling to give up that $20,000.
Seeing that the two men were about to open the truck door, he didn't have time to think, pulled out his pistol and decisively pulled the trigger.
Boom! !
Two crisp gunshots rang out, and the two men fell to the ground, their heads pierced by bullets!
The speed was so fast that it took the lives of the two people in almost a single breath.
The three people who peeked out from behind the trash can were stunned as they looked at the two fallen Mexicans.
"You...have a good shot."
Samuel looked at the fallen body, at least half a hundred meters away.
For a weapon like a pistol with a relatively short range, being able to accurately headshot someone at such a distance is enough to call them a sharpshooter!
Even Josh, who had maintained a calm demeanor, was somewhat moved.
Ignoring their astonishment, Logan holstered his pistol and snapped, "Get in the car right now, we need to get out of here. There might be more than two of them!"
The two men's goal was obvious: they were after the truck.
Logan didn't believe that just two small fry would dare to openly rob the Holmes family's goods; there might even be some organization behind them.
In short, every minute you stay here increases the risk of danger.
Logan's words were met with agreement from everyone, and even Conrad stopped arguing.
The group quickly got into the car and left the town.
But not far from leaving the town, several blinding headlights suddenly flashed behind us.
Logan, who was driving the truck, looked in the rearview mirror and saw three pickup trucks speeding towards him from behind.
"Damn it, there really are pursuers!"
Samuel, in the passenger seat, glanced at the pickup truck in the rearview mirror, his face instantly darkening.
Logan was not surprised by this. With a cold expression, he pressed the accelerator to the floor, and the truck engine roared to its maximum.
Samuel drew his pistol, cocked it, and prepared to fight at any moment. His eyes were fixed on the rearview mirror as he snarled, "Damn it, these lunatics, can't they see the Lawrence Group logo?"
In this area, even children know that offending the Lawrence Group is not a wise choice!
Logan stared intently at the road ahead and replied in a deep voice, "They're robbing the Lawrence Group. This is definitely a premeditated robbery!"
Now it seems that this shipment is indeed something tempting, even enough to tempt many people to risk offending the Lawrence family.
But Logan had no time to care what these things were; he was busy figuring out how to shake off his pursuers.
Even though they had shifted the truck to the highest gear and floored the accelerator, the fully loaded truck was still slower than the pickup truck behind them.
The three pickup trucks were like predators locking onto their prey, relentlessly pursuing them.
Even the truck driven by Conrad and Josh was overtaken by two pickup trucks.
Two pickup trucks positioned themselves between the truck and repeatedly rammed into it by turning their steering wheels.
Boom! !
The truck writhed and swayed on the road after being hit by the pickup truck, as if it would overturn at any moment.
"Fuck!"
Enraged, Conrad, sitting in the passenger seat, raised his pistol and began firing wildly at a pickup truck.
As Josh drove the truck, he pulled out a pistol and fired indiscriminately at the pickup truck on the other side.
Under the threat of bullets, the two pickup trucks finally showed some fear and slowed down.
But only for a short while, they rushed up again, and the people in the pickup truck pulled out their pistols and kept firing back at the truck. Soon, the truck had several bullet holes in its body.
The two sides exchanged fire wildly on the wide road.
"Damn it, we're not as fast as them, we're going to get caught sooner or later!"
Samuel stared at the rearview mirror, paying close attention to the battle situation behind him, his expression tense.
Logan frowned, at a loss for what to do.
Suddenly, an intersection appeared ahead.
Logan quickly picked up the walkie-talkie and said to Josh and the other man in the car behind, "There's an intersection about 50 meters ahead. Turn left together. If I remember correctly, there's an abandoned lumberyard nearby!"
Before setting off, Logan looked at the mission map and clearly noted down some important coordinates along the way.
After saying that, he jerked the steering wheel and quickly turned the corner.
Josh, who was behind, seized the opportunity, turned around, and quickly followed Logan's car.
The sudden change of direction caught the three pickup trucks off guard, and they drove straight ahead for nearly twenty meters before they hurriedly turned around and resumed their pursuit.
This incident gave Logan and his friends a chance to catch their breath.
"We've shaken them off."
Samuel looked at the peaceful road behind him and let out a long sigh of relief.
However, Logan remained calm and shook his head, saying, "They won't give up. We have to deal with these bugs."
Samuel nodded noncommittally.
Their trucks are too heavy and can't keep up with the speed of the pickups; they'll be caught up sooner or later.
After driving for a short while, Logan finally saw the abandoned lumberyard marked on the map.
Many tree stumps that had not yet been moved were piled together, with a dilapidated-looking wooden silo in the middle.
"Hide the car at the logging camp."
Logan drove the car into the abandoned barracks first, turned off the lights and engine, and quickly got out of the car with his pistol and spare magazine.
Josh also parked his car next to them.
The four people gathered together.
"What do we do now?"
Samuel looked out of the gun barrel; the headlights of the pursuers' vehicles were now clearly visible, and they would catch up in just three minutes.
"You all go out, close the warehouse door, and hide in the nearby woods. I'll hold them off here until the gunfire starts, then you can take action and wipe out these lackeys!"
Logan calmly gave the order, while simultaneously changing the magazine in his pistol and getting ready.
Are you alone?
Samuel was momentarily worried when he heard that Logan was going to deal with them alone. "There are quite a few of them!"
Three pickup trucks, each filled with people, at least a dozen or so!
"Don't worry, I'm confident!"
After Logan finished speaking, he quickly climbed up to the upper level of the gun and hid.
Before going up, he glanced at Conrad.
This guy has remained silent ever since the attack, just holding his pistol, completely still.
Logan doesn't have time to settle scores with this guy right now; dealing with the pursuers is the top priority!
Samuel and the others knew that now was not the time to hesitate, so they quickly went out, closed the warehouse door, and hid.
Logan hid alone in the dimly lit, dusty barn.
The moonlight shone through the narrow coffin, barely outlining the general shape of the wooden gun.
This appears to be a long-abandoned warehouse. Many things have been moved out, and the wooden warehouse has gradually rotted away under the constant wind and rain, with a stench of decay permeating the air.
Logan wiped the sweat from his forehead, held his breath, and listened quietly to the sounds outside.
A short while later, the sound of vehicles could be heard outside the logging site.
Three pickup trucks will park in front of the warehouse, and sixteen people will get out of the vehicles.
They were wearing matching black uniforms, and were most likely members of a nearby gang who had followed the tire tracks to this location.
However, this group of people did not rush in directly.
They all knew that Logan and his men were also armed, and if they rushed in rashly, they might be riddled with bullets in an instant.
"Stop hiding, I know you're inside."
A lean man stepped out of the ranks, stared at the tightly closed gun saddle, and shouted loudly, his voice echoing across the open field.
"If you don't want to die, open the door obediently and hand over the goods, otherwise no one will leave here alive!"
Logan heard the powerful shout clearly, but did not respond.
He carefully hid in the gun, calmly took off his coat, revealing his strong arms and taut muscles all over his body.
boom!
The wooden warehouse door was kicked open, and the already rotten wooden door shook violently under the impact, with debris falling off.
The bright headlights outside instantly illuminated the dimly lit wooden cabin.
Ten figures, pistols in hand, entered in a coordinated and vigilant manner, constantly scanning their surroundings.
But they didn't notice that on the roof beams above, a pair of eyes as sharp as a cheetah's were fixed on the prey about to step into the trap below.
Snapped!
The gate suddenly slammed shut, completely blocking out the blinding headlights from outside.
The entire cabin was plunged into darkness once again.
The stench of death filled the entire barrel.
