Chapter 92 Vampire Legend, The Strange Man in the Forest
Chapter 92 Vampire Legend, The Strange Man in the Forest
The sheep scattered in panic, their bleating incessant, and blood dripped continuously from their white wool.
"Damn it, we can't let these sheep get away!"
Lorna frowned. These sheep were important assets of the shelter; if they all ran away, it would be a major loss for the shelter.
"That thing has arrived."
Logan looked at the fleeing sheep, his brow furrowed as he saw the bloodstains on their wool.
The amount of bleeding on these sheep is abnormal; the sheep thief doesn't look like an ordinary creature.
"Marcus and John are still in the sheepfold!"
Lorna suddenly remembered the two people in the sheepfold and instantly became tense.
Logan pondered for a moment, then said to Klaus, "You and the others go herd the sheep, Lorna and I will go to the sheepfold to see what's going on."
After saying that, he ran wildly towards the sheepfold, with Lorna and Victor following closely behind.
As the three approached the sheep pen, they saw Marcus and John emerge, cursing and swearing, both covered in blood, though it didn't seem to be their blood.
"So, did you catch that guy?"
Lorna anxiously stepped forward to ask.
Logan and Victor rushed into the sheepfold to check the situation. The sheepfold was in a mess, the hay on the ground was in disarray and covered with a lot of blood.
A lamb lay motionless on the ground, its belly ripped open with a huge gash. Its white wool was covered in bright red blood, and its internal organs were scattered all over the ground, filling the air with a strong smell of blood.
"Damn it, that guy got away, and he even killed a sheep!"
Marcus wiped the blood off his body, looking at the dead sheep in the pen with a regretful expression.
Including the previous three, this is the fourth sheep. This loss is simply too great.
"What exactly is going on?"
Logan bent down to check on the lamb, his brow furrowed. What he saw made him feel that things were not so simple.
"John and I were hiding in a nearby tree to observe when we suddenly saw someone approaching quickly and climbing up the sheepfold window and slipping inside in no time."
Marcus pointed to the window of the sheepfold and continued, "When John and I saw it, we quickly ran down and rushed into the sheepfold to catch that guy."
"But when that guy saw us coming, he panicked. Instead of running away immediately, he killed the sheep and tried to escape with the sheep's carcass."
Marcus said helplessly, "John and I rushed to stop him, but that guy was strong. After a fierce fight, we could only leave the sheep behind, and he escaped through the window."
Logan listened to their story, his brow furrowed. "Did you see who they were?"
"It's not from our shelter."
John quickly spoke up, adding, "But he's not a normal person either. That guy is a weirdo. He has very sharp teeth, great strength, and is extremely agile."
Both of them are mutants with considerable strength, but they couldn't gain the upper hand against this strange man.
"Did other mutants break in here?"
Victor turned to look at them and asked.
After all, being able to escape from the encirclement of two mutants, Victor believed that they must be mutants.
However, Marcus shook his head and said with certainty, "It can't be a mutant. If there were any traces of mutants around here, they wouldn't have been able to hide it from us."
They patrol the farm every day; if there were any unknown mutants around, they would have found them by now.
While they were talking, Logan remained crouched on the ground, carefully examining the lamb's carcass.
While turning the sheep's neck, he suddenly noticed a bite mark on the neck. The four teeth marks were very clear and all accurately bitten onto the blood vessels.
Logan carefully stroked the bite mark, feeling that the teeth sound was very familiar. After thinking about it carefully, he remembered that the teeth mark was similar to a vampire's bite mark.
Upon thinking of vampires, Logan couldn't help but frown and fall into deep thought.
Victor, who was behind him, noticed that Logan seemed to have discovered some clue, and quickly squatted down beside him to ask, "What did you find?"
"Look at this."
Logan pointed to the location of the bite mark. "Doesn't this bite mark look familiar?"
Upon hearing this, John and the others gathered around.
Lorna looked at the bite mark, pondered for a moment, and then said, "It looks like a poisonous snake."
John disagreed, saying, "A viper cannot bite four holes."
"They might be two venomous snakes," Marcus added again.
Listening to their conversation, Logan remained silent for a moment before muttering, "No, they're vampires."
He then added, "Vampires have very sharp fangs, and the shape they bite out is like this. Moreover, the place they bite is right on the blood vessels, so I guess they probably want to suck blood."
"That's impossible!"
John immediately retorted, "Logan, there can't be vampires in this world. They're just made up in the movies."
In his view, vampires and the like are entirely products of human imagination and could never exist.
Logan looked at him, shook his head and smiled. "If even we exist, what's so strange about vampires?"
Many normal people who have never come into contact with mutants would not believe that there are mutants in this world who possess superpowers and are created through genetic mutations. Vampires are the same. The reason they don't believe it is simply because they haven't come into contact with them.
Moreover, Logan knew very well that vampires did exist in the Marvel Universe, and that those vampires were quite active and powerful.
Logan sighed helplessly and muttered, "But if they really are vampires, we're in trouble. The existence of vampires is not a good thing for us. Those things have never been good. Right now, they're just hunting sheep, but no one can be sure they'll keep hunting sheep forever."
Vampires are brutal and bloodthirsty, and human blood is a rare delicacy in their eyes. If they are left unchecked, Logan is very worried that the next victims will be the other mutants in the shelter.
They're already overwhelmed with dealing with the government, and if they have to deal with troublesome vampires on top of that, things will get really messy.
However, John and the others were clearly unwilling to believe in the existence of vampires, looking at Logan with suspicion. After all, vampires were simply a fantasy to them.
But Lorna seemed to gradually accept Logan's explanation. Remembering what she had talked about with the workers at the surrounding farms, she said to everyone, "I've heard that the farms next door have also experienced these things from time to time. Their livestock often disappear mysteriously. Could it all be the work of vampires?"
If they really are vampires, then it means they've been living in the area for a long time.
"Do you really believe in the existence of vampires?"
John looked at Lorna in surprise, still believing that vampires were impossible creatures.
Logan didn't want to argue with them. He stood up, glanced at the window of the sheep pen, thought for a moment, and then said, "You guys report this to McCain first, and organize the others to find all the sheep. Victor and I will go after that guy; he shouldn't have gone far."
"OK."
Marcos nodded and warned, "Be careful and keep in touch."
Logan nodded and led Victor to the window outside the sheepfold, where they found a clear set of footprints.
Clearly, this sheep thief was surrounded and captured by John and his men. He fled in a very disheveled state, leaving behind quite a few clues.
Victor squatted down and looked at the huge footprints, saying in a deep voice, "These footprints don't look like those of a normal human."
After saying that, he sniffed the air around him and said in a deep voice, "Moreover, the smell of blood here is very strong, and the aura of violence is heavy. It doesn't seem like it will be easy to deal with."
Logan nodded, looking at the footprints on the ground, and roughly determined the direction the vampire had fled.
Victor followed Logan's gaze and said with a resentful expression, "I can't believe that in the 21st century, those filthy vampires are still alive."
The legend of vampires has existed for a long time. They heard about vampires from time to time when they were fighting in wars, but they never encountered them. However, a lot of evidence at the time proved that vampires existed, but their numbers were relatively small.
Victor never expected that after so many years, those creatures would still be alive.
"Let's go, follow the tracks and see if we can catch that guy before nightfall."
Logan looked in the direction of the footprints, then at the setting sun that was about to sink into the valley, and began to run wildly in the direction of the footprints.
Victor followed behind him.
Following the footprints, the two ran to the edge of the farm and darted into a forest. But as soon as they entered the forest, the footprints suddenly disappeared, leaving no trace on the ground ahead. The footprints stopped there.
"Damn, those guys can fly?"
Victor stared at the disappearing footprints on the ground and couldn't help but look up at the lush forest around him.
The only thing he could think of was that the guy had flown away.
"What do we do now?"
Victor turned his head to look at Logan.
Without clues, it would be difficult for them to track down the guy's location.
"fine."
Logan sniffed the air around him and said with a smile, "That guy can't hide his scent."
"Um?"
Victor was taken aback, then sniffed the air himself, before exclaiming in surprise, "I can't smell anything!"
Logan ignored him and instead used his nose to search for the direction the guy had fled in.
He could clearly sense that a faint smell of blood still lingered in the air.
The smell was so faint that ordinary people couldn't smell it at all, and even Victor, who was very sensitive to blood, couldn't detect the subtle bloody smell.
But now Logan can. With his body back to its peak condition, not only have his abilities been restored, but they have even been enhanced, including his sense of smell.
Logan sniffed, following the faint scent of blood in the air, and continued walking forward.
After walking for a while, he noticed that the smell was particularly strong near some of the surrounding trees, and he seemed to have paused briefly in one of them.
Logan examined the large tree carefully, scrutinizing every detail, and discovered some footprints and indentations on the tree.
"That guy doesn't fly, but he has an incredibly strong jumping ability; he swings through trees like a monkey to escape."
He pointed to the roots on the tree branch and analyzed them. After thinking for a while, he continued to stride after the clues.
Finally, Logan and Victor stopped on a hillside.
Victor found bloodstained wool and some sheep remains on the ground, along with unusual footprints.
Victor sniffed around the wreckage, his expression suddenly turning serious: "The atmosphere here is very chaotic."
Besides the smell of sheep's blood, he also smelled several different odors mixed together in a very messy way.
Logan nodded, his brow furrowed, and said, "There's more than one person's presence here; that guy has companions!"
After saying that, Logan carefully examined the footprints near the wreckage. Although the footprints were messy, they eventually branched into two different paths, one to the left and one to the right.
"One person on each side, you go to the right, I'll go to the left."
Victor pointed to the left, then got up and chased after it.
Logan nodded, looked at the dense forest on his right, and strode off in pursuit.
However, after taking only a few steps, Logan heard the sounds of fighting behind him, as well as Victor's shouts.
"not good."
Logan was startled and immediately turned and ran back.
When Logan arrived, he saw Victor locked in combat with a burly figure.
Unfortunately, it was already sunset, and the light in the forest was dim, so Logan couldn't make out what the burly figure looked like. He could only see that it was a strange man who looked like a lion, with a thick mane around his neck, and very large feet, indicating great strength.
He was locked in a fierce battle with Victor, the two like tigers and lions clashing in the jungle, their blows landing hard and the dull thuds echoing around them.
Seeing this, Logan immediately went to help.
But Victor suddenly spoke up, "Don't come any closer! This damned thing dared to ambush me! I have to kill him!"
It's clear that Victor is extremely irritable right now, and he insists on dealing with that guy himself, refusing to let Logan get involved.
"This guy"
Seeing this, Logan had no choice but to stay put and carefully observe the battle.
Meanwhile, Victor and the strange man were locked in a fierce battle.
Victor's powerful body looked like a raging beast at this moment, and his deep roar was like the low growl of a tiger, which made the surrounding birds flee in terror.
The strange man was clearly not to be outdone; the hairs on his neck stood on end, looking exactly like steel needles, and his eyes were filled with rage.
Victor lunged at the monster, his sharp claws extending and gleaming with a chilling light, and swung them down mercilessly.
Meanwhile, the strange man on the other side, though enormous in size, was exceptionally agile. With a simple backflip, Victor's claws missed their mark.
At the same time, he clenched his fists tightly, his massive muscles bulging, unleashing a terrifying force as he slammed them down on Victor without hesitation.
The enormous fist looked like a giant iron fist, slicing through the air with a powerful force.
Victor's eyes narrowed, but he showed no fear as he raised his arms and crossed them in front of him.
boom!
The fist slammed into Victor's arm, the force of which made Victor's expression change, and he let out a muffled groan. A clear pain shot through his arm, and he felt as if he was only one step away from a fracture.
However, Victor's fighting skills were naturally second to none. He was not intimidated by the power. Instead, he subconsciously raised his foot and kicked out hard.
Upon seeing this, the strange man quickly withdrew his fist and retreated.
The two men stared intently at each other, then charged out again. The two figures rapidly closed in on each other through the woods, finally colliding with a loud bang. They quickly engaged in fierce close combat, fists clashing against fists, feet against feet, fighting fiercely and evenly for a time.
Victor's every move was deadly, thanks to his ferocity and bestiality.
The strange man was equally fierce, attacking like a beast. In no time, clear scratches appeared on both of their clothes, and blood dripped continuously from the scratches, but neither of them stopped attacking because of the pain.
The dull thuds of impact echoed through the jungle, the fighting was exceptionally fierce.
A few minutes later, Victor suddenly found an opening in the opponent's punch, dodged the fierce fist, and bent down to deliver a heavy claw strike to the monster's abdomen.
Roar! !
The pain in his abdomen made the strange man roar and stagger back two steps.
Victor wasn't about to let it go, and quickly pounced again, raining down punches with both fists.
Faced with this fierce attack, the monster's expression gradually became more and more serious, and he eventually found it difficult to defend himself.
boom!
Victor's punch landed squarely on the monster's chest, the force sending the monster staggering back dozens of steps. Clutching his aching chest, the monster glared menacingly at Victor, his eyes filled with apprehension. Finally, gritting his teeth, before Victor could pounce any further, the monster whirled around and darted into the nearby woods.
The enormous figure vanished into the dense forest in an instant.
Victor, who had initially been triumphant, instantly lost his smugness upon seeing the strange man trying to escape. His expression changed drastically, and he roared, "Damn it, don't even think about getting away!"
As he spoke, he lifted his feet and quickly chased after the strange man.
Logan watched Victor's retreating figure, his expression changing, and shouted, "Damn it, Victor, don't be impulsive, watch out for an ambush!"
There were many footprints on the ground, which meant that this strange man was not alone; there might be many of his accomplices in the woods.
But Victor, in his headstrong manner, wouldn't listen to Logan's advice. He sprinted at top speed in the direction the strange man had fled.
"Damn it!"
Logan watched Victor's retreating figure, gritted his teeth, and could only hurriedly chase after him.
However, he paid special attention to the footprints left by the strange man before setting off.
The enormous footprints, with the width of a single foot exceeding the combined width of two normal feet, and the depth of the downward pressure, indicate that the strange man was extremely heavy.
But this seemingly heavy person moved incredibly fast, disappearing completely into the dense forest in just a short while.
Logan looked at the footprints and recalled the strange man's physique; they perfectly matched the strange man's figure.
