American Zombie Detective

Chapter 100 Ungrateful

The cold rain lashed against the hotel roof. Qin Jin and Alessa watched the entire cruel and realistic performance through the gaps in the restaurant's roof.

Throughout the entire process, Qin Jin wore an almost languid expression of interest. He had long seen through the good and evil in human nature, so this scene was not unexpected. Only Alessa watched all of this with great interest.

Just as the two vehicles were about to veer off the dirt road and onto the county road—

From the cornfield next to the motel, a cawing chorus erupted as countless crows took flight, splitting into two black torrents that rushed toward the two vehicles like the cloak of death unfurled!

"Oh?" Qin Jin's gaze locked onto the spot where the crows had taken off, not far from the inn:

"That's interesting, let's go check it out."

Qin Jin silently slid down from the roof with Alessa, landing steadily on the wet ground without splashing a single drop of water.

They headed straight for the area where the crows had taken flight. After passing through the cornfield, the scene before them gave Qin Jin a knowing look.

It was a not-so-new grave mound, with a simple cross in front of it, and a polished stone slab laid on the front, on which was written:

Elliott Hawkins, the beloved son

Born on XX month XX year

Died on [Date]

May you rest in peace in heaven.

Judging by the time, the child was probably in his early twenties when he died; he was still very young.

Next to Elliott's grave, there are two other newly dug, empty tombs!

Beside each burial site lies a polished, blank stone slab, seemingly waiting quietly for its owner's name to be engraved.

Qin Jin understood instantly.

"I see." He muttered to himself, a cold smile curving his lips.

"This is where their dead son is buried. These two pits over there were prepared for the Hawkins by the old couple... They didn't even have a chance to use them before those three idiots killed them and buried them elsewhere."

Just then!

"ah--!!!"

From the direction the SUV disappeared, a piercing scream pierced through the rain and reached Qin Jin's ears, instantly bringing him to a halt!

It seems that Walker and Bella still couldn't escape.

However, this didn't matter to Qin Jin. He took Alessa back to the hotel, intending to find a clean room to take a shower, rest for a while, and leave at dawn.

As soon as I got to the parking spot, the ear-piercing roar of the engine and the sound of the tires skidding wildly grew louder and louder!

A blinding, crooked beam of headlights tore through the rain and rushed back into the open space in front of the hotel!

It's Gleason.

The car was in a terrible state at this point:

The windshield was covered with spiderweb-like cracks, with a large hole in the center; the side windows were almost completely shattered; the body was covered with deep scratches and dents, and the roof was riddled with holes; the wipers were swinging wildly, but they couldn't remove the dark red stains and...black feathers stuck to the glass.

The car door was suddenly pushed open, and Gleason tumbled out.

His face and neck were covered with wounds of varying depths, as if he had been frantically pecked by countless bird beaks, and blood mixed with rainwater covered half of his face.

His eyes were filled with the extreme fear of surviving a catastrophe and a kind of madness driven to the brink of despair.

He struggled to his feet, his vision blurry as he scanned the hotel. Then, his gaze instantly froze on Qin Jin and Alessa, who stood at the door, soaking wet but unusually calm!

Like a drowning man grasping at a straw, Gleeson burst forth with astonishing strength, staggering as he lunged forward, his voice hoarse and distorted, filled with a desperate plea:

"Qin! Detective Qin! Save me! Save me! That monster! Those crows... they... they're chasing me! Everyone else is done for... yes! yes! Their suspension has been revoked... you, you can make any demands you want... please..."

He was incoherent, tears streaming down his face, and reached out to grab Qin Jin's clothes.

Boom!Boom!Boom!

Heavy footsteps, accompanied by the rattling of chains dragging on the ground, came from the shadows on the side of the hotel.

The vengeful spirit of the scarecrow, its head covered in a burlap sack and its body stained with mud and fresh blood, emerged step by step from the darkness.

It stopped about ten meters away from Qin Jin, its two crooked, button-shaped eyes coldly staring at the three people at the door.

The huge iron hook in its hand swayed in the wind of the rainy night.

Gleason froze on the spot as if frozen, his pleading expression instantly turning into boundless fear. His body trembled violently, and his teeth chattered.

Qin Jin's gaze languidly fell on the vengeful spirit of the scarecrow, his voice clearly penetrating the sound of rain:

"Are you Elliott Hawkins? The son of that elderly couple?"

The vengeful spirit seemed to pause for a moment, but there was no response, only heavier breathing.

"The three robbers who murdered your parents have been executed by your own hands and their bodies hung in your cornfield," Qin Jin continued, his tone as calm as if he were discussing the weather.

"The revenge has been taken, the obsession has been resolved, and this place is no longer needed for your protection. Dust to dust, ashes to ashes. Now, you may leave."

"Why?" Alessa suddenly looked up, her grey-blue eyes fixed on Qin Jin, a hint of confusion and dissatisfaction in them.

"Let it go?"

The glutinous rice ball in her arms seemed to sense her dissatisfaction and shifted restlessly inside the doll.

A barely perceptible smile curved Qin Jin's lips:

"No, I just want to see if this thing develops intelligence before deciding what to do..."

He hadn't finished speaking!

The scarecrow suddenly took a step forward, and the huge iron hook, stained with blood, whistled through the air like a javelin, hurtling towards Qin Jin's face! The chains rattled loudly!

Gleason was terrified and screamed with his eyes closed!

Clang—!

A piercing clang of metal clashing!

With a flick of his wrist, Qin Jin unsheathed the menacing Basmo Armor M-shaped cleaver, which drew an arc of light and precisely struck the middle of the flying iron chain! Sparks flew everywhere!

The heavy and massive iron chain was bent askew by Qin Jin's chop, crashing to the ground with a clang!

at the same time!

boom!boom!boom!boom!

Alessa's Gru Super Red Eagle roared loudly as she fired repeatedly without hesitation!

The bullet struck the scarecrow's body, which was made of resentment and decaying matter, and instead of bursting into blood, it exploded into clusters of dazzling, leaping blue arcs of electricity!

Like a miniature lightning storm raging within its body!

Where the scarecrow was hit by the rune bullet, the rotten clothes and straw instantly turned charred and black, revealing the rotting flesh underneath, which was also scorching and burning!

Its movements were jolted backward by the powerful electric current.

The scarecrow kept swinging its chains to attack, but Qin Jin's blade was faster. Every time the hook flew, Qin Jin would precisely block and cleave it!

"Alessa, try the head and the heart."

Seeing that Alessa's shots had missed vital organs despite being fired several times, Qin Jin could only offer a reminder.

boom!

A rune bullet struck the scarecrow's heart with perfect accuracy!

Sizzle—!!

A burst of blue lightning, far more intense than before, suddenly exploded from its chest!

The powerful impact, combined with the power of the runes, instantly tore apart its apron and decaying muscles, revealing its dark internal organs!

The vengeful spirit's massive body suddenly stiffened, as if all its strength had been drained, and it crashed backward with a thud, slamming onto the muddy ground and splashing up a large amount of dirty water.

The sack was making a hissing sound as it leaked air, and the body twitched slightly.

Without the slightest hesitation, Qin Jin moved with lightning speed! The instant the vengeful spirit fell to the ground, he had already pounced upon it like a ghost!

The Basmo Armor M-shaped cleaver in his hand whistled through the air, slicing out a deadly streak of light!

puff!

The blade severed the scarecrow's neck without any resistance!

The head, wrapped in a sack, rolled into the muddy water.

Immediately afterwards, Qin Jin twisted his wrist, and the blade flashed again!

Click!

The heavy blade slammed down on the rolling sack-like head, splitting it in two like cleaving open a rotten pumpkin!

A foul-smelling, viscous liquid and putrid matter gushed out instantly, only to be quickly washed away by the rain.

The skull was empty, containing only a few twisted straws and a wisp of seemingly solidified black mist. As the blade cleaved through it, it emitted a silent shriek and twisted as it rose into the sky.

Just as Alessa was about to fire, Qin Jin stopped her: "No! Keep it, this thing..."

He flashed a bright smile: "It's still useful!"
