Chapter 129 The Grand Justice's Grandson
Watching the monster disappear into the clouds, Qin Jin didn't hesitate for a moment. He turned around, kicked open the attic window, and rushed downstairs. The police officers were standing below in a panic, not knowing what had happened.
In their view, all they saw was Qin Jin rushing onto the roof. Dark clouds in the sky obscured the moonlight, and a gust of cold wind swept up from the roof, carrying fallen leaves into the distance...
"Go! Follow me!" Qin Jin rushed towards Dodge, and Alessa quickly followed, stuffing the glutinous rice balls into the doll's belly, leaving only its head sticking out.
There's no time to explain!
Now he needs to get to the scene as soon as possible to see how the people affected by that aura of the underworld are doing. If they are not dead, he needs to find a way to cut off the ghost's connection to killing and see what it does next.
With a low growl from the engine, the Dodge Charger shot off like an arrow, its tires screeching as they rubbed against the road.
"Quick! Keep up with Detective Qin!"
Deputy Chief John snapped out of his daze, roaring as he sped toward his command vehicle, while the other police cars sirens blared and raced after the Dodge's taillights.
The Dodge sped out of the Oak Ridge neighborhood and plunged into the adjacent Rand Park neighborhood, stopping precisely in front of the mansion where the ghosts had just attacked.
This is an unassuming American-style mansion, but inside it is pitch black, clearly still asleep.
Time is life. Qin Jin got out of the car, climbed over the yard, rushed to the door, raised his leg, and kicked the door open in one go, without the slightest hesitation or pause!
Bang!
With the sound of the door frame shattering, the sturdy wooden door was kicked inward by Qin Jin, bursting open and sending wood chips flying. The loud noise instantly woke everyone from their dreams.
"Who is it? What's the matter?"
"God, what happened?"
Shouts rose and fell, hurried footsteps echoed, and lights were turned on sporadically. At this moment, Qin Jin had already rushed to the second floor. Alessa, who was right behind him, whispered, "Left side, breathing very rapidly."
He rushed in without hesitation.
Deputy Director John also stopped on the lawn at that moment. He had just gotten out of the car when Qin Jin's figure had completely disappeared.
"Damn it! Justice Warling's house?" Under the car headlights, Deputy Chief John recognized the words on the house number, and a sudden, inexplicable panic gripped his heart.
"Oh no! Something's going to happen!" He turned and ran.
It wasn't that I was worried Qin Jin's judgment was wrong, but... Chief Justice Worin is in his fifties or sixties. If a bunch of people rushed in in the middle of the night, I don't want to scare the old man to death!
The foyer was a mess, with the broken wooden door leaning askew.
At that moment, in the maid's room on the first floor and at the exit of the basement, the driver and servants were peeking out in fear. Just as Deputy Director John rushed up, an elderly couple came rushing out from the third-floor staircase. They were the judge and his wife, their hair gray and their robes untied.
"What's going on? Who? Call the police! Call the police now—" Justice Worin roared, while his wife beside him had already started dialing...
Just then, Qin Jin rushed out of the suite on the second floor, carrying a boy who was convulsing violently.
The boy was about sixteen or seventeen years old. His pale face was covered with terrifying blue veins, his lips were black, and his body was convulsing uncontrollably. He looked extremely critical.
Qin Jin, carrying the boy, "whoosh—" swept past the chief judge and rushed down the stairs, not even glancing at the angry judge and his wife or the embarrassed deputy director.
"Matthew! My God, where is he taking Matthew...?" Judge Worling's wife cried out in panic and immediately followed him downstairs. The judge himself was also filled with fear, his anger instantly replaced by panic.
"To the hospital—!" Qin Jin shouted as he rushed to Dodge's side, shoved the young man into the back seat, and quickly started the engine, speeding off again.
"Keep up! Keep up, to the hospital!" Deputy Chief John hurriedly helped the Chief Justice up, while quickly explaining:
"Judge Waring, don't be afraid. I'm Deputy Chief John from the police department. Your... yes, your Matthew is seriously ill, and our people are taking him to the hospital... Come on, get in my car."
He shoved the somewhat disorderly and confused Supreme Court Justice and his wife into his car, then immediately drove off in pursuit.
There are indeed top-notch private hospitals near upscale communities.
Qin Jin carried the boy into the emergency room, where medical staff, who had already been notified by Detective Carter by phone, quickly took over. Justice Warling and his wife, along with Deputy Director John, arrived shortly after.
As she watched her grandson being wheeled into the emergency room, the old lady gripped the sash of her nightgown tightly, trembling all over.
Justice Warling supported her; his face was ashen, his eyes filled with fear and confusion as he stared intently at the door of the emergency room.
Time ticked by, and finally, the door to the emergency room opened, and the attending physician came out, wiping away sweat.
"The situation was very dangerous. Fortunately, the patient was brought in in time. He suffered from acute respiratory failure complicated by severe arrhythmia. If he had arrived a few minutes later, his life would have been in danger."
Justice Warling let out a long sigh of relief, swayed slightly, and was supported by Deputy Chief Justice John, while the old lady burst into tears.
Justice Warren's gaze shifted to Qin Jin, who was leaning against the wall in the shadows. He broke free from his support and quickly walked up to Qin Jin:
"Detective..." Worin's voice was filled with lingering fear:
"Chief John just told me that it was you who discovered Matthew's sudden illness and saved him..." He carefully chose his words, attempting to pose his question:
"I, Worin, will always remember this favor. Thank you!"
Mrs. Worling seemed to remember something then, and ran over, wiping away her tears:
"Thank you, thank you so much... Thank you for saving our grandson, but, Detective, how did you know Matthew had a seizure while you were outside?"
A hint of seriousness flashed in Justice Warling's eyes...
What kind of look is that? Qin Jin was feeling puzzled when Director John next to him hurriedly began to explain:
"No surveillance! No investigation! Your Honor, please believe me, we absolutely did not monitor your family. The reason we discovered your grandson's sudden illness was because we were handling a case... and then... well..."
He looked to Qin Jin for help.
"So that's what it means," Qin Jin instantly understood, and he explained it quite clearly:
"We are handling a paranormal case, and during the investigation, we discovered that this phenomenon has moved into your home, so..."
Qin Jin shrugged and spoke very casually:
"...Actually, I wasn't sure if it was your grandson. I just went in and checked each room one by one. Luckily, I found him in the first room."
Justice Warling's face instantly turned even more grim, and his wife gripped his arm tightly.
"You mean... this serial killer has fallen on Matthew's shoulders?"
Judge Warlin had heard about the recent series of deaths in the neighborhood, but he never believed in any supernatural forces and always thought it was a copycat serial killer!
"Let Deputy Director John explain this to you. I can only suggest that you assign some people to keep an eye on your grandson 24 hours a day, and at least two people..."
After explaining these things, Qin Jin and Deputy Director John exchanged brief greetings:
"Director John, please handle the follow-up. I'm going back to rest now; I have to meet with someone tomorrow."
He needs to think carefully about what that thing actually is. He has to continue the investigation tomorrow morning and doesn't have time to dawdle here. He'll leave this favor-seeking task to Deputy Director John.
After leaving, Qin Jin gave Detective Carter a few more instructions, mainly asking him to appease the painter's wife.
I was in such a rush just now, I think... I think I left her somewhere.
