Chapter 146 The lid is about to be lifted

Qin Jin accurately stated his conjecture: "Molly's disappearance, or even death, is likely an accident. She stumbled upon one of Tagore's most closely guarded secrets, forcing him to silence her. This explains why Tagore and Lily fled, and this temporary hiding inevitably leads to a new problem—a lack of money!"

He glanced around at Carter and the others, his eyes filled with powerful confidence: "They need money now. Lily needs to support her pregnancy, Tagore needs to hide, and they all need funds to wait for news of Chen Anni's death and the birth of their child. That Mustang is too conspicuous; they can't use it to generate cash. So, the source of this money can only be two directions."

Qin Jin held up two fingers: "First, Lin Guofu's private lawyer. If Tagore, or rather Lin Haosheng, had already reached some kind of agreement with this lawyer before his death, or if the lawyer himself was one of the masterminds behind this plan, then Tagore would definitely seek short-term funding from him now. This is the most direct and most likely channel."

"Secondly," Qin Jin's finger tapped softly on the table, "it's the cash Lin Guofu hid. Didn't Chen Anni say there were hundreds of thousands in emergency cash at the Golden Sail Yacht Club? Lin Hao most likely knows the location of this money, and might even have gotten the password from Lin Guofu. Now they're desperate and urgently need money, so that's one of the most likely targets!"

Once the idea is clear, the action plan will immediately take shape.

"Detective Hansen," Qin Jin said, looking at the experienced detective, "I'm entrusting the legal lead to you. Find the man, don't be polite, take him into custody immediately, monitor him 24/7, including his personnel and communications—if you find he's one of the participants, arrest and interrogate him immediately. If not, tell him that this case now involves multiple murders, a huge inheritance conspiracy, and supernatural intervention; the seriousness has reached its maximum—"

"His only option is to fully cooperate; otherwise, we'll investigate his taxes relentlessly!"

"clear!"

A ruthless glint flashed in Hansen's eyes. Against this kind of person, a tax investigation was often more intimidating than a gun. He immediately turned and called to Duke, "Bring your men and come with me!"

"Detective Carter," Qin Jin turned his gaze to Carter, "You're in charge of the Golden Sail Yacht Club. Go straight in, hide, don't contact the club staff, and don't do anything else. Just wait for them to come—I predict they'll most likely come tonight, so be patient and wait for them to walk right into our trap."

Carter nodded vigorously, rubbing his hands together in anticipation: "Don't worry, Detective Qin, I guarantee he won't get away this time." He turned to lead David out.

"Wait a minute," Qin Jin said, "David, stay behind. I need him to take care of something tonight."

"Okay."

After everyone else left, Qin Jin instructed David, "Go to sleep and get some rest. You'll be doing business with me tonight." With that, he kicked him out.

Only Qin Jin, Alessa, and Yuanxiao, who was dozing in the corner, remained in the room.

The sunlight outside the window was perfect, but it seemed unable to penetrate the office shrouded in layers of conspiracy and the shadow of death. Qin Pu walked to the window, watching the police cars rushing away downstairs, his eyes full of amusement.

"Alessa," he said softly, "tonight—may be a little unpredictable. I think things are more complicated than we imagine, all these people—"

He pointed to the whiteboard, which prominently displayed photos of Lin Guofu's family, Lin Hao, Tagore, and even Zhang Dagua.

"They're all cunning and calculating! They're full of schemes and schemes!"

Alessa's grey-blue eyes gazed at the photo on the whiteboard. The Frankenstein's monster, holding her, nodded gently and praised Qin Jin in Chinese, "It's alright, we are the real, truly treacherous ones!"

"Heh~ my little darling, this should be described as meticulously planned," or at the very least, "cunning and shrewd," but what the hell is this "scheming and treacherous"?!"

Qin Jin covered his forehead. It seemed that Alessa still had a long way to go on her journey in learning Chinese.

The Golden Sail Yacht Club was shrouded in the tranquility of the night, with only the sound of waves gently lapping against the pier.

Two dark figures appeared silently outside the club's railing. One of the figures fumbled around on the railing for a while, then gently pulled upwards, lifting up one of the already loose railings.

Two dark figures nimbly slipped through the gap and quickly closed the railing behind them, leaving almost no trace.

The dark figure in front was clearly very familiar with this dock area, quickly emerging from behind the dock and soon arriving at point 3.

Sigrún has taught at the Iceland University of the Arts as a part-time lecturer since and was Dean of the Department of Fine Art from -. In – she held a research position at Reykjavík Art Museum focusing on the role of women in Icelandic art. She studied fine art at the Icelandic College of Arts and Crafts and at Pratt Institute, New York, and holds BA and MA degrees in art history and philosophy from the University of Iceland. Sigrún lives and works in Iceland.

The entrance to Dock No. 3 is a yacht dock for the wealthy. It is actually a series of independent buildings with waterways underneath. Yachts can drive directly in, and after the gates are closed, the water is drained for inspection.

On both sides were various yacht accessories, such as dedicated sunshades, hard-shell roofs, and extendable tail fins; there were also some recreational facilities, such as fishing tackle, surfing gear, and barbecue equipment; and some water sports equipment, such as jet skis, surfboards, and water skis.

The second floor is usually a private area, with a living room, study, kitchen, small dining room, bedroom—everything you could need.

The shadowy figure quickly entered the password and slipped into the dock area, his steps as light as a feline. The Lin family's dark yacht lay quietly in the dock, like a giant beast hidden in the night.

The two quickly went up the stairs to the second floor, first to the study, and then straight to the bedroom, where Lin Guofu's safe for hiding emergency cash was located.

Upon entering the bedroom, the shadowy figure groped around the bed for a while. Suddenly, the huge wooden bed made a creaking sound, and then the entire bed slowly rose, revealing a black box hidden underneath.

The entire safe blends seamlessly with the floor, with only the cabinet surface containing the combination lock visible.

The shadowy figure crouched down, inserted the key taken from the tea canister in the study, and then entered the password: "Click!"

The blinding incandescent light instantly filled the entire space!

People poured out of the dressing room, the toilet, even outside the window and inside the closet! Six or seven guns were pointed at the two men at the same time.

Qin Jin staggered in from outside, a cigar dangling from his lips. He leaned against the doorframe, while Alessa, holding her Frankenstein doll, stood beside him, her small figure staring blankly at everything happening inside the room.

Detective Carter blocked the windows, and his officers guarded the cloakroom and restroom, all heavily armed and with serious expressions.

Tagore and Lily stood up abruptly, frozen in place, like frozen corpses, their faces drained of color in an instant.

"Oh, thank goodness you came," Qin Jin said slowly, his tone not without a hint of teasing. "This place is really terrible! No food or drink here. If you had come a few days later, we would have been dried up like mush!"

Hearing what he said was funny, several young police officers around him couldn't help but let out suppressed chuckles.

Not only them, but everyone else was actually quite pleased. According to Qin Jin, once these two were caught, the whole case would be closed, and judging from the current situation—

We should consider the person captured, right?

After a moment of stalemate, Tagore finally suppressed the sudden surge of panic, straightened his back, and said angrily, "What are you doing? What right do you have to point guns at me? Arrest me first, and tell me what crime I've committed!"

Lily gripped Tagore's arm tightly, her nails digging deep, her eyes filled with fear and apprehension.

Qin Jin slowly took two steps forward, a slight smile playing on his lips, clearly amused by Tagore's words: "Are you stupid? Look at yourself now—"

He pointed around: "Burden, caught red-handed! It's all clearly recorded by the body camera—and you're asking me why I arrested you? What, are you so confident being a thief these days?"

Tagore was speechless!

Seeing the remarkable expression on Tagore's face, Qin Jin added, "Did you think I was going to say that you were arrested because you killed Molly? Were you already prepared to retaliate? Sorry to disappoint you—"

Qin Jin deliberately dragged out his words, trying his best to mock and damage his fragile self-esteem and confidence: "I won't charge you with murder! I'll only charge you with burglary, and a huge amount of money involved! Come on, aren't you supposed to be very smart? Tell me, how are you going to solve this?"

His words were like a needle, relentlessly stabbing and piercing Tagore's heart, causing him to bleed profusely and suffer unbearable pain!

This is the purpose of Qin Jin!
