American Zombie Detective

Chapter 60 Armed Mountain Search in America

"call--!!!"

Whether it was the beam of a flashlight or the scent of a living person, the two corpse bears suddenly stopped chewing, their grayish-white eyes fixed on the heavy task that was so close at hand, and they exhaled a stench of decay!

The stench of blood and corpses assaulted my senses!

"Fire! Fire!"

Tong Shouyi was terrified and screamed desperately as he fired his Browning!

"Da da da da da—!"

"Clap clap! Clap clap! Clap clap—!"

"Bang! Bang!"

In an instant, gunshots rang out across the mountains!

More than twenty guns opened fire on the two terrified giant bears: AK steel-core bullets, shotgun slugs, pistol bullets...

The intense firepower instantly sent the two bears trembling violently, their fur and bits of flesh flying everywhere!

However, what happened next completely shattered everyone's psychological defenses!

The bullets hit them with dull thuds, leaving visible bullet holes and torn flesh, but the two bears remained completely unfazed!

It was as if the bullets hadn't struck their bodies!

Although they staggered under the impact of the bullets, one of them instantly stood upright, braving the hail of bullets, and with its paw tearing through the air, it slapped the nearest gunman on the head!

puff!

With a muffled thud, the gunman didn't even have time to scream before his entire upper body was scattered like a dandelion, with blood, flesh, and internal organs spraying out in a radial pattern!

Another bear charged into the crowd, its massive body rampaging and its paws flying everywhere. Many people didn't even have time to react before they were thrown or swatted away by its frenzied attack, crashing into trees or boulders, breaking bones and suffering fatal injuries!

"They're indestructible! They're indestructible..."

"Monster! Run!"

"This is a demon! A demon!"

Fear spread like a plague among the gunmen. The primal instinct for survival took over everyone's minds. Whether they were members of the Tong family or the gunmen, they all turned and ran. Some fled down the mountain, while others ran towards the car...

"Second Uncle! Sixth Uncle! Over here!"

Tong Jiye and Tong Shouxiao shouted loudly together. They quickly joined up with Tong Shouyi and Tong Shouxin, along with four or five of their most loyal gunmen. Instead of fleeing towards the car, they turned and rushed up the mountain!

The two bears chased after the crowds, making the mountain safer!

These eight or nine people ran wildly up the mountain, their faces and hands covered in countless cuts and scratches, but no one cared. Everyone was desperately trying to escape and run!

At that moment, one of the brown bears that was in the middle of the chase suddenly stopped, its gray eyes looking up at the mountain, as if it had seen the direction in which the Tong family had fled, and paused for a moment.

They silently counted the number of people and noted down the direction they fled in!

Then, the brown bear let out an even louder roar and continued to pounce down the mountain!

…………

The bodies of the Chinese couple, Li Jianjun and Huang Shufen, whose hands and feet were bound with wire, were carried out and placed on a blazing fire on the lawn.

Sheriff Harvey, Uncle Carl, and about a dozen volunteers all gathered around.

Flames licked at the two frozen corpses, quickly charring their hair and clothing and setting them ablaze. The skin of the corpses also began to char and burn slowly, but the temperature of the entire body also rose as a result, and the frozen corpses began to soften gradually...

suddenly!

Li Jianjun's corpse moved strangely. The charred body suddenly turned to the right, opened its mouth wide, and let out a clear cry!

"ah--!!!"

The townspeople instinctively took a step back, gasps and exclamations erupted, and everyone turned their gaze to Qin Jin, who stood to the side, looking utterly bored.

Although they've seen many zombie movies, they'd still be quite startled if they actually encountered one!

Although Qin Jin repeatedly explained that it was not a zombie, in the minds of these townspeople, this thing was probably similar to a zombie, since they called it a zombie monster anyway!

After Li Jianjun's body moved, Huang Shufen's body soon followed suit. The two bodies began to struggle in the fire. Fortunately, they had been bound hand and foot with wire as Qin Jin had instructed, so no matter how much the bodies struggled, they could not escape!

As the struggle intensified, with a crash, the timber supporting the two corpses collapsed completely under the force of gravity and the burning fire. The bodies fell down, and the struggle became even more intense, scattering burning firewood everywhere.

"Alessa!"

Qin Jin called out softly, and Alessa pulled out the Gru Super Red Eagle from behind the doll, stepped forward, and calmly pulled the trigger in the face of the scorching heat and flying sparks!

clap clap!

After two gunshots, the body finally stopped struggling and completely disappeared in the fire, about to be burned to ashes.

"Now everyone knows!" With the situation confirmed, Sheriff Harvey felt much more confident. He pointed at Qin Jin and said loudly:

"This is Agent Qin from Los Angeles! He's fought these monsters before and knows how to deal with them! Just like he said, anyone bitten by that monster will eventually turn into one of these zombies. So, we must find it and eliminate it before it creates more monsters!"

"Now, those who don't want to stay can go back; those who do, go home and take your guns, bullets, and axes!"

"Once Qin finishes inspecting the scene, we'll follow the monster's trail, find it, and take it down!"

A group of people sprang into action, with almost everyone expressing their desire to participate in the battle. They all went home to prepare weapons and ammunition before returning to assemble.

Taking advantage of this time, the group, including Qin Jin, Alessa, Sheriff Harvey, Officer Henry, Uncle Carl, and two other town hunters carrying shotguns and looking tense—

I arrived at that eerie house on Oak Street again. The police tape fluttered in the night wind, creating a chilling atmosphere reminiscent of a 1960s ghost movie.

Qin Jin gestured for the others to stay outside, and only took Alessa inside. He squatted down at the edge of the dried and blackened pool of blood in the center of the living room, gently running his fingers across the floor, and then sniffing carefully the deep and messy scratch marks on the wall.

Aresa hugged her teddy bear, her grey-blue eyes scanning her surroundings before finally settling on the direction leading to the back door of the kitchen.

There, on the door frame, was a dark brown, almost dried, sticky stain.

"Here," Aresa pointed flatly.

Qin Jin walked over, picked up a bit of dirt, rubbed it between his fingers, and then placed it under his nose.

A unique odor, a mixture of soil, the stench of corpses, and a faint trace of corpse poison, entered Qin Jin's nostrils. This scent of his kind was very clear to Qin Jin.

He stepped out the back door and saw a few inconspicuous footprints on the grass. The soil in the footprints smelled faint, but it definitely smelled like zombies.

Following the zombie's footprints, Qin Jin quickly pinpointed the direction it had fled in—

After leaving here, the zombie Luke passed behind two rows of houses, entered the river, walked along the river for a while, went ashore, and headed directly into the mountains.

Faced with the summoned police chief and others, Qin Jin made his own deduction:

"This thing killed someone, drank their blood, and went straight into the mountains. I think it will hide there for a while, digest the blood, and then come out to hunt again!"

Qin Jin didn't mention the zombie upgrade situation, too lazy to explain; the current facts were enough to frighten them.

"Shall we go up the mountain later?" Sheriff Harvey asked nervously.

"Yes, that's how it is now. Alessa and I will stay here. You go and gather everyone and bring them here. We'll set off directly from here," Qin Jin said, then thought for a moment and added:

"Oh, and while you're at it, grab some wire, pliers, and gasoline. You never know, there might be monsters along the way that need to be burned!"

"Alright!" The sheriff and the others immediately went back to gather manpower and prepare supplies, while Qin Jin took out the Blood Jade from the riverbank—

Since he can't go back now, why not just tell the Paper Bride directly that the Tong family went to Los Angeles? Let's see if she's willing to take the initiative first!
