I Created a Sanctuary in Marvel
Chapter 183 The Skrulls
Chapter 183 The Skrulls
The female Ancient One gave Ye Feng one last deep look, said nothing more, and simply turned around sharply, her figure gradually disappearing into the depths of the corridors of the New York Sanctuary.
Ye Feng gazed silently at her departing figure, its silhouette seemingly slowly overlapping with that of the elderly Gu Yi, who was both his teacher and friend in his memory.
Unfortunately, the elder's soul had already departed for eternity, vanishing into the torrent of time.
"A world without mutants —"
"From the perspective of historical processes and energy levels, it closely resembles that meticulously planned sacred timeline. This means that this is not the main cosmic stage where Ragnarok will sweep through."
Ye Feng muttered to himself, his divine sense sweeping across the entire planet like invisible ripples, sensing the pulse of this world.
Thinking of this, he felt a little more at ease.
"Then, beings like Rune King Thor, who can shake the multiverse, won't be born here. That's a bit of good news, though not bad."
With a slight thought, the exotic-style robe he wore transformed like flowing liquid, evolving into a set of ordinary clothing that suited the era, the mid-1990s.
However, his strikingly handsome appearance and the faint, almost divine aura surrounding him still drew the attention of many passersby, like a firefly in the night.
"Um?"
As Ye Feng boarded the noisy city train, his gaze casually swept across the carriage, finally landing on a seemingly ordinary elderly woman, and he raised an eyebrow slightly.
"Skuru? This is just in time?"
The Skrull, whose disguise was so perfect, seemed to sense Ye Feng's probing gaze. He turned his head and gave him a kind but slightly meaningful smile.
"It seems that through her, we'll soon be able to meet the famous Nick Fury and Captain Marvel."
"This is a good opportunity."
Ye Feng narrowed his eyes slightly, several thoughts flashing through his mind in an instant.
In a world lacking powerful variables like mutants to provide checks and balances, who is the biggest destabilizing factor lurking in the shadows?
The answer is almost obvious.
Hydra, and S.H.I.E.L.D., which is infiltrated like a sieve.
Especially its director, Nick Fury.
To be fair, as the head of S.H.I.E.L.D., Fury was undoubtedly dutiful and responsible, but his extreme suspicion and stubbornness, cultivated during his career as a secret agent, indirectly led to countless bitter consequences.
Not to mention the distant future, the secret Skrull invasion that will sweep the globe in the future will be inextricably linked to him.
A rather bold idea gradually became clear in Ye Feng's mind.
If he were to replace Fury as the director of S.H.I.E.L.D., and personally build and lead the Avengers, would the future of this world be completely different?
"Snap!"
Just as Ye Feng was deep in thought, a sharp sound of shattering glass suddenly rang out, interrupting his thoughts.
A figure surrounded by dazzling flames forcefully entered the carriage in a powerful manner; it was Carol Danvers.
At this moment, she clearly still identified herself as Firth, an elite Kree warrior, wearing standard Kree combat uniform, with sharp eyes and a strong sense of dedication to her mission.
"Is this the Binary Force created by the Space Stone's energy?"
"The Infinity Stones, even in their single-universe versions, remain the ultimate artifacts that countless beings dream of."
Ye Feng sensed the surging and unique energy fluctuations within Carol's body and couldn't help but sigh once again.
With the Time Stone, the female Ancient One was able to steadily suppress the ambitions of many dimensional demons.
An unexpected secondary energy burst from the Space Stone created the Captain Marvel with astonishing potential before us.
Its inherent power of rules truly makes it a cornerstone of the universe.
"Skuru! You have nowhere to run!"
Carol shouted sharply, her energy perception firmly locking onto the target.
What followed was almost exactly as Ye Feng had predicted: after a brief chase and exchange, the Skrull agent, relying on his agility and use of the environment, successfully escaped Carroll and disappeared into the complex urban landscape.
Carroll, unwilling to accept defeat, slammed his fist against the carriage wall, causing a tremor, before flying away from the scene in a fit of rage.
Throughout the entire process, Ye Feng remained a true bystander, attracting no attention whatsoever.
When the train returned to calm, his figure disappeared silently, as if blending into the air.
A moment later, Ye Feng appeared in a country tavern located by the roadside that looked quite old.
He replaced the original bartender, leisurely wiping the glasses as if he had always worked there.
"Ding-a-ling~"
The doorbell rang crisply, the tavern's wooden door was pushed open, and a travel-worn Carol Danvers walked in.
Her gaze was somewhat unfocused as she looked around at the slightly worn-out decor of the tavern, finally settling on an old photograph hanging on the wall, where vague fragments of memory began to flood her mind.
"Where was this photo taken?"
She pointed at the photo and asked Ye Feng, her voice carrying a hint of barely perceptible confusion.
"Taken at a nearby air force base."
"Besides, shouldn't you know more about Project Pegasus than anyone else, Ms. Carol?"
Ye Feng pushed a glass of clear water onto the bar counter in front of Carol and added calmly.
Upon hearing this, Carol's pupils contracted slightly, and her body tensed up instinctively.
"From what you're saying, it seems you know me?"
She stared at Ye Feng, trying to find something on his face.
"Carol Danvers, a former U.S. Air Force pilot, was officially recorded as missing six years ago due to an accident during a test of a top-secret program—Project Pegasus."
Ye Feng calmly revealed her identity information.
"Hey! Dude, who are you anyway?"
A deep, wary voice came from the back door of the tavern.
Nick Fury, gripping his signature pistol, slowly moved in, the muzzle slightly lowered, but his gaze fixed intently on Ye Feng.
This information is highly classified and should not be known by an ordinary bartender.
"Relax, Agent Fury. We're not the enemy."
"A Level 3 agent from the Bureau of Strategic Homeland Resources Defense and Logistics, right?"
Ye Feng smiled, his gaze sweeping over Fury, and accurately stated his identity and the organization he belonged to.
Before Fury could respond, Ye Feng turned to Carol and cut to the heart of the matter: "You've been hunting down the Skrulls, believing them to be vicious invaders."
"But have you ever considered that the Skrull Empire and the Kree Empire, as one of the three great empires in the universe, have been at war for over a thousand years?"
"How can you be so sure that what the Kree are telling you is the truth?"
He paused, then emphasized, "Don't forget, think about it carefully, you are essentially an Earthling."
"Earthlings? Impossible!"
Carol instinctively retorted, this was the understanding that the Kree Empire had instilled in her over the years.
However, Ye Feng's previous words, as well as the fragmented memories about the Air Force and Dr. Lawson that kept surging in her mind, caused her firm belief to be strongly shaken.
"My amnesia, and the power within me, are they all related to Project Pegasus?"
She took a step closer, placed her hands on the bar counter, and spoke urgently and seriously.
"It seems you haven't been completely brainwashed yet."
"Dr. Lawson, who guided your research, was actually a Kree; her real name was Mar-Will."
"Her real purpose in researching the light-speed engine was not for the Kree Empire, but to help the Skrull refugees displaced by the war and find them a new home."
"Unfortunately, the Kree Empire discovered her treasonous actions and sent pursuers to destroy the experimental machine, leading to Dr. Will's death. And you, you were a witness to that accident, and also an unexpected—beneficiary."
Ye Feng nodded.
As Ye Feng narrated, Carol felt the fog in her mind gradually being lifted, and those sealed and altered memories surged forth like a flood breaking through a dam.
"So, this power of mine—comes from that explosion?"
"That's right. The energy source that triggered the explosion was the Tesseract, also known as the Space Stone."
"It is one of the six Infinity Stones born from the Big Bang, containing the most primordial laws of space and near-infinite energy. The Binary Force within you can be considered a gift left to you by the Cosmic Cube."
"If you can completely control it, your future will be comparable to that of a god."
Ye Feng affirmed.
Nick Fury, standing to the side, was completely dumbfounded, feeling as if his worldview was being repeatedly rubbed into the ground.
He took a deep breath, forcing himself to calm down, and asked the most crucial question: "Why should we believe you? How can you prove you're not one of those shapeshifting Skrulls in disguise?"
He is not.
This time, before Ye Feng could speak, Carol answered first.
She sensed the vast, starry aura emanating from Ye Feng and said with certainty, "The feeling he gives me is—extremely powerful, even stronger than the oppressive aura emanating from the Kree Empire's highest artificial intelligence, the Supreme Intelligence. You're definitely not an ordinary human, are you?"
"You can understand it that way."
"I walk among men, yet I transcend the mundane. You may call me—God."
Ye Feng readily admitted that he had put down the wine glass he was wiping and created a new identity for himself.
He then calmly met Carroll's scrutinizing gaze.
He leaned forward slightly, extending an invitation to Carol: "So, Carol Danvers, are you interested in becoming my apostle?"
"The potential of the Twin Star Power within you is far greater than this. Under my guidance, you will not only master this talent more quickly, but also break through the limits you set for yourself and see a higher view."
"After all, protecting the planet that gave birth to you requires immense power."
Nick Fury opened his mouth, feeling overwhelmed by the sheer volume of information, and didn't know where to begin.
He looked at Ye Feng, then at Carol who was deep in thought, and realized that this world was far more complex and crazy than he had imagined.
