Chapter 187 Mech War

While news of Tony's announcement of the closure of the weapons division was still circulating in major news outlets, Obadiah Stane was already standing in a highly classified laboratory deep within Stark Industries.

Standing before him was the wreckage of the Mark I, which had been painstakingly transported back from the Ganjug Desert base.

Despite being riddled with bullet holes and traces of explosions, its rugged lines and massive size still exude a chilling aesthetic of war.

"See that? This is the ultimate war machine I've always dreamed of! Tony, you have no idea what it means!"

"You use it as a tool for escape, but I will transform it into the king of the battlefield!"

Obadiah muttered to himself, his rough hands stroking the cold armor.

Inside a quiet mansion in New York.

Ethan's eyelashes fluttered a few times, and he slowly opened his eyes.

Consciousness returned like a tide, bringing with it intensely painful memories.

The searing pain of a bullet tearing through his chest, the chilling loss of life as his blood slowly drained away—he thought he was going to die.

"here it is----?"

His voice was dry and hoarse, carrying the bewilderment of someone who had survived a catastrophe.

"New York, Mr. Ethan."

"As a doctor without superpowers, you have done an exceptional job, exceeding anyone's expectations of a mortal."

A calm and gentle voice sounded beside him.

Ethan looked in the direction of the sound and saw a young man with an Asian face smiling at him.

The man possessed an indescribable aura that made Ethan much more sober.

He had never seen anyone like this before; it was as if a myth had come to life.

"Who are you?

Ethan propped himself up and asked cautiously.

"My name is Ye Feng."

"If you don't have anywhere else to go for the time being, you can consider staying. I happen to be short of a housekeeper here."

"That's what the young man replied."

Ethan remained silent for a moment.

He's no fool; the power and intelligence network behind his ability to travel from that desolate desert to New York in an instant is simply astonishing.

Tony's every move was probably already being watched by the other party.

And I have no more attachments in this world.

"Thank you for saving my life."

"If Mr. Ye Feng doesn't mind, I'm willing to try and do this job."

Ethan finally nodded, his tone solemn.

Meanwhile, Wanda and her brother Pietro were using magic to monitor Tony Stark's movements.

"My God, I'm truly impressed by this guy!"

"He's completely unsuspecting of that old fox, Obadiah Stine!"

"The trip for the last weapons demonstration was top secret; very few people knew about it! The fact that those terrorists were able to ambush his convoy so precisely shows there was a mole within the group!"

"Did he never suspect his dear Uncle Obadiah?"

Pietro scratched his silver hair, his tone full of impatience.

Wanda's gaze, passing through the magically formed light screen, fell on Tony, who was chatting happily with Obadiah on the screen.

"It's not that he didn't have suspicions, it's that he subconsciously didn't want to have them."

"After Tony's parents passed away, Obadiah Stane single-handedly kept Stark Industries afloat until Tony was able to take over."

"In Tony's mind, Obadiah almost played the role of a father. If you were in his shoes, would you easily suspect His Majesty of plotting against you?"

She analyzed calmly, her voice carrying a clarity beyond her years.

"These are completely different things!"

Pietro retorted, but in a weaker tone.

The principles are the same.

"Tony is a genius when it comes to technology, but when it comes to human relationships, he is sometimes frighteningly naive."

Wanda sighed.

"It seems he'll have to suffer a big loss this time before he learns his lesson."

Pietro shrugged.

They knew very well what Obadiah Stane had been secretly researching lately.

"Isn't this exactly what we wanted?"

"Obadai's actions will give us a reason to take revenge ourselves."

A cold hatred flashed in Wanda's eyes. The image of her parents dying from a Stark Industries-made shell was still a nightmare that haunted her.

Things unfolded exactly as they had predicted.

Blinded by trust, Tony was paralyzed by Obama's sonic weapon without any warning, and watched helplessly as Obama removed the new Arc Reactor that was keeping him alive from his chest.

The man he considered family, with a ferocious and smug smile on his face, threw him on the ground like a doll and walked away.

"Honestly, sometimes I really doubt whether he's worth saving."

"Is he really the key figure His Majesty spoke of, the one who will change the course of the war?"

Pietro looked at Tony, whose life force was gradually fading in the underground laboratory, and couldn't help but complain again.

"Stop talking nonsense and get to work."

Wanda glared at Pietro and focused her attention.

Crimson chaotic magical energy flowed through her fingertips, and the next moment, Tony's initially somewhat crude old version of the Arc Reactor traversed space and precisely embedded itself back into the electromagnet on his chest.

As his energy returned, Tony took a deep breath, and his pale face gradually regained its color.

He looked up in shock at the two unfamiliar young men who had appeared in front of him at some unknown time.

"Who are you?"

"If we hadn't been secretly protecting you, do you really think you could have survived the Ten Commandments' attack?"

"I didn't expect you to be so forgetful; you almost fell into the same trap twice."

Pietro crossed his arms, his tone slightly mocking.

"They actually still believe in Obadiah Stane."

Wanda's tone also carried a hint of helplessness.

Tony's pupils contracted slightly as he quickly grasped the key point: "Wait! You mean you were present the entire time during the last attack?"

"What about Ethan? Is Ethan still alive?!"

His voice suddenly rose, carrying a hint of urgency.

"The reaction wasn't too slow."

"Once you resolve the immediate problem, you will naturally learn the truth you seek."

Wanda nodded slightly.

"----good!"

Tony didn't ask any more questions and forced himself to stand up.

At this moment, he was filled with questions about the organization behind these two mysterious young men, but Obadiah's betrayal and the current crisis overwhelmed everything.

He strode towards the storage platform for the newest Mark III armor.

"We'll go with you, Tony."

"Stark Industries' weapons took our parents' lives. We must avenge this ourselves."

Wanda spoke, her tone firm.

Tony paused for a moment, then nodded silently.

He said nothing. The tragedy caused by Stark Industries' overabundance of weapons was his inescapable responsibility, and any words seemed inadequate at that moment.

He quickly donned the red and gold Mark III armor.

"Jarvis, full power start!"

boom!

With dazzling flames erupting from the thrusters beneath his armor, Tony burst through the garage roof and sped toward Stark Industries.

Wanda and Pietro exchanged a glance. Crimson energy enveloped Wanda, and she floated up like a witch, while Pietro transformed into a silver lightning bolt, leaping and bounding between buildings at a speed comparable to Iron Man armor, following closely behind.

Before the three even reached the Stark Industries building, they heard a deafening explosion!

Boom!

The walls of the upper floors of the building suddenly burst open, and bricks and glass poured down like a torrential rain.

Amidst the billowing dust, a powerful, silver-gray steel giant crashed through the wall and stood proudly outside the building.

It was Obadiah Stane driving the Iron Monger.

Its massive size and heavy armor contrasted sharply with Tony's streamlined Mark III, exuding a raw, violent aesthetic.

"Obadai!"

Tony roared and unleashed his thrusters at full power, charging straight toward the Iron Monger like a cannonball!

"Let him vent his anger first."

"However, based on the performance data of both mechs, Tony is more agile and energy efficient, but Obadiah has an absolute advantage in firepower and defense, making it difficult for Tony to win in a head-on confrontation."

Wanda, hovering atop a building not far away, spoke to Pietro.

Just as Wanda had predicted, Tony, using the Mark III's agility, kept circling the Iron Monger, harassing him with his palm cannons and shoulder-mounted micro-missiles.

Beams of energy struck the Iron Monger's thick armor, sending up dense sparks, but they were unable to cause any real damage.

"It's no use, Tony! Your toys can't hurt me!"

Obadiah laughed wildly inside the mech, while the Iron Monger's shoulder-mounted rotary cannon roared madly, bullets sweeping towards Tony like a metal storm, forcing him to constantly perform high-speed maneuvers to dodge.

Occasionally, stray bullets would slip through the net and strike the surrounding buildings, leaving shocking bullet holes.

Tony tried to climb higher, using the altitude difference to find an opening.

But Obadiah was clearly prepared. The Iron Monger's legs suddenly spewed out powerful flames, and the massive machine was briefly lifted into the air. Its huge metal hand grabbed Tony's ankle!

"Got you!"

Obadiah grinned maliciously and slammed Tony the Wolf hard against the glass curtain wall of a nearby building!

Boom! Crash!

Glass shards fell like a shower of crystals.

Tony was dazed and confused by the impact, and the alarm inside his armor blared shrilly.

"Jarvis, energy remaining!"

"Less than 20 percent of energy remains, sir."

Tony's heart sank.

We must finish this quickly!

He suddenly broke free from the Iron Monger's grip, used the thrusters to stabilize himself, and concentrated all his energy into the palm cannons in his hands, preparing to launch his strongest attack.

However, Obadiah was faster than him.

The heavy rocket launcher on Iron Monger's arm opened, and several rockets trailing flames roared toward Tony. Just at this critical moment, Wanda, who had been watching from the sidelines, made her move.

She formed a mudra with her hands in front of her chest, and her eyes shone with a bright crimson light.

An invisible, chaotic magical force field instantly enveloped the battlefield.

The rockets fired at Tony slowed down abruptly, their trajectories became erratic, and they eventually exploded in mid-air not far from Tony. Apart from the shockwave making him stagger, they did not cause any real damage.

Meanwhile, Wanda meticulously manipulated the magical field, limiting the aftershocks of the battle to a minimum. Although the streets below were in chaos and screams were everywhere, miraculously, there were no serious casualties.

"What's going on?!"

Obadiah was both shocked and furious; he couldn't understand why his attack had failed.

Tony was stunned, but he immediately seized the opportunity and unleashed a full-power palm cannon energy beam that finally struck the Iron Monger's chest armor, leaving a charred mark, but it still failed to penetrate.

"Damn it! Your energy's almost depleted, Tony!"

Obadiah quickly recovered from his shock, maneuvering the Iron Monger forward to deliver the final blow to Tony.

He raised his massive metal foot and stomped down hard on Tony, who was lying on the ground!

Just then, a silver lightning bolt ripped through the battlefield!

Pietro finally moved!

In a moment that even the retina cannot capture for an ordinary person, he had already circled the massive body of the Iron Monger dozens of times.

All that remained in the air was the piercing noise of metal being forcibly dismantled!

Snap! Clang! Crash!

When Pietro reappeared beside Wanda as if he had never moved, Obadiah was horrified to discover that his prized Iron Monger had been instantly stripped of its limbs and weapons.

The once invincible war behemoth has been transformed in the blink of an eye into an iron coffin with only its torso and head remaining!

"No! This can't be! Who?! Who could it be?!"

Obadiah frantically pounded on the control panel inside, letting out desperate and furious roars.

He simply couldn't understand how the ultimate weapon he had painstakingly crafted could be so easily defeated.

Tony struggled to his feet, staring at the unimaginable scene before him, his face beneath the visor filled with shock.
