The Silent Witch of Hogwarts
Chapter 55: Conversation in the Infirmary
McGonagall hurried toward the Hogwarts infirmary, her face filled with confusion.
She never imagined that a Hogwarts professor would faint in class, nor that he would faint in someone else's class, let alone that he would faint in Lockhart's class.
She had just arrived at the entrance of the school hospital when she saw Lockhart standing there looking embarrassed.
"Ah, Professor McGonagall," Lockhart smiled, "this shouldn't concern me..."
"She was just too excited because she's a fan of mine...that's common among students." He chuckled and rubbed his hands together. "So...can I go now?"
"..." McGonagall took a deep breath and then simply nodded slightly, afraid that if she opened her mouth, she would use a spell to turn Lockhart into a silent stone.
Watching Lockhart leave, she pursed her lips and pushed open the door to the school hospital.
There weren't many people in the school hospital; only Mrs. Pomfrey was sitting in a chair, and there were only two people in the hospital bed.
"McG...Professor McGonagall?" Loila's hair stood on end when she saw the person walk in, and her pointed ears under her hair immediately perked up.
"Hamilton..." McGonagall was about to speak when she saw another person lying on the bed.
Mr. Ron Weasley…one of Gryffindor’s most notorious blabbermouths…even though he seemed to be asleep, McGonagall lowered her voice and approached Loira before asking, “What happened?”
"What did Professor Lockhart do?"
"He...he didn't do anything..." Loila said sadly, "It was my own fault...my own fault."
"Mr. Lockhart wanted to praise me... but I... I was so... so scared that I fainted..."
"..."
McGonagall no longer wanted to ask why Lockhart praised Loira; she just wanted to know why Loira had fainted over something like this.
but……
She thought of Miss Hamilton's experience at Durmstrang... and her usual behavior...
“Miss Hamilton,” McGonagall said softly, “perhaps it’s my fault… I shouldn’t have forced you to do these things…”
"Instead of just listening to the lecture, it would probably be better to have me review what you've memorized during class...." Professor McGonagall's words made Loila quickly shake her head.
"No...no," Loira said, pursing her lips. "I already promised...Professor McGonagall..."
"And in Mr. Lockhart's class... I... I learned a lot."
Then we absolutely cannot let you attend classes anymore!
When Loila mentioned Lockhart, McGonagall took a deep breath.
She pursed her lips, considered her words carefully, and then said, "Miss Hamilton, your health is more important than your studies."
"Can you promise you won't faint from listening to lectures again?"
Her words silenced Loira; she really couldn't guarantee that...
If Mr. Lockhart continued to talk to her like that... Loira quickly patted her face to prevent herself from fainting again.
Seeing Loila remain silent, McGonagall continued, "You are a genius, Miss Hamilton."
"Don't be so quick to deny it." She gently raised her hand to stop Loila from speaking. "So... Miss Hamilton, I believe you can teach your students very well using your memories."
"I also believe in Durmstrang's educational abilities."
"But..." McGonagall paused, then said earnestly, "You need to... consider this."
"Regarding the choice of memories," she said, glancing at the person lying on the other bed.
"Mr. Weasley has been lying here because of the Killing Curse in his memory," she said softly. "So, Miss Hamilton... as a professor..."
"We cannot ignore any factors that could have a negative impact on students." She said, slowly rising to her feet, and addressed the stunned Loila, "On this point, I believe you."
As she spoke, she slowly left, but when she reached the door, she seemed to remember something and quickly came back.
"Furthermore, Miss Hamilton," she added, "do not adopt Professor Lockhart's teaching methods."
"That's not suitable for you."
"Hmm...hmm..." Loila actually felt the same way...she could never be as cheerful and generous as Mr. Lockhart.
Watching McGonagall leave, Loila let out a soft sigh of relief and slowly got off the bed.
Her feelings were quite complicated at this moment.
She didn't come to Hogwarts to teach students... she came because of Dumbledore's promise, the promise to take her to see Lord Grindelwald.
It was also to gain Dumbledore's trust...
However... Loila absolutely did not want others to be hurt because of her own affairs, especially children... even though she wasn't much older than them.
She pursed her lips, took a deep breath, and looked at Ron Weasley, who was sleeping on the bed.
This absolutely cannot happen again... Loila... Neither Dad nor Mom wants to see this happen...
"Clatter".
Just as Loila was feeling a little sad, the door to the infirmary was pushed open again.
This time, a girl with dark golden hair walked in. She skipped in and smiled faintly when she saw Loila.
"Loila." She said softly as she walked to Loila's side and then ruffled the tips of the bewildered Loila's hair.
"Lofgood...Miss Lofgood?" Loila stammered and took a few steps back.
Didn't I put on a disguise? Luna actually...
"Of course I recognize you," Luna said with a smile. "We're friends, aren't we?"
"..."
Loila pursed her lips resignedly, then nodded gently.
"You don't seem too happy?" Luna said, taking Loira's hand and leading her to the other side of the infirmary. The curtains here were not drawn, and sunlight shone through the glass onto her hair.
"Hmm..." Loila nodded, her voice slightly choked with emotion. Seeing her friend in her sadness made her lose control of herself, especially since she hadn't had a proper rest since arriving at Hogwarts.
I haven't even spoken to Luna once...
"I know you seem to be in trouble," Luna said with a shrug. "Remember what I said before?"
"If you encounter any difficulties, you can come to me."
"Miss Lovegood..." Loila sobbed, pursing her lips to keep from crying.
Why would someone cry in front of a girl who is sixty years younger than them? They absolutely cannot do that!
"I...I'm just a little confused." After thinking for a moment, Loila asked softly, "You've attended my classes, haven't you?"
"How are you feeling?"
"Hmm..." Luna tilted her head and thought for a moment before saying, "It's very interesting."
Ah...that's definitely not good...it must be very strange...
So Loila slowly repeated what McGonagall had said.
"So...you don't want everyone to see that dark magic, right?" Luna thought for a moment and said, "Those evil, unpleasant-smelling things that easily attract troublesome spirits, right?"
"Hmm..." Loila nodded gently, "But that's how I studied at Durmstrang..."
Her answer made Luna laugh.
"This is Hogwarts, isn't it?" she whispered. "Professor McGonagall's words actually make a lot of sense."
"You just need to tilt your head to understand it."
"Tilting your head... Do you understand?" Loila looked at her with some confusion.
"For example..." Luna reached out and pinched Loila's hair with her finger, "I heard that Headmaster Dumbledore was once the Defense Against the Dark Arts professor at Hogwarts."
"He must be the greatest player in Hogwarts history, right?"
Her words made Loila's eyes widen as if she understood something.
"you mean……"
"You really need to reconsider your choice of what to remember."
"It's just not your memory."
"But rather, it's the memories of other people...like...Headmaster Dumbledore."
Loila pursed her lips and looked at Luna: "Miss Lovegood, you are a genius."
"I'm not a genius." Luna shook her head, looking at Loila's hair with interest. "I can't even turn my hair red."
