Chapter 600 Dumbledore's Army
Professor McGonagall's words were indeed correct; after learning about the Christmas event, almost every college experienced a significant uproar.
Not only Gryffindor, Ravenclaw and Hufflepuff, but even the Slytherin students showed their dissatisfaction.
After all, who wouldn't want to go home for Christmas?
"We've had enough of Umbridge!" Several hot-tempered Gryffindor students slammed their fists on the table, and the students gathered in the Room of Requirement shared their anger.
This is a rare holiday! But Umbridge doesn't give us a break! Sometimes students' anger comes so easily.
"But what can we do?" a timid Hufflepuff student asked in a low voice. "We're just students!"
"We may be students, but we have wands too!" Harry stood up at this moment. He had had enough of Umbridge, whether it was the matter of Professor Hamilton, Sirius Black, Dumbledore, the classes—and now Christmas.
He had made plans with Sirius Black to spend Christmas with him at Black's mansion—but those plans were ruined because of Umbridge's so-called performance.
So he gripped his wand tightly and said, "We must rebel against her! We will never compromise with her tyranny."
"Harry's right, we won't compromise with her tyranny!" Ron, standing next to Harry, shouted, "Down with Umbridge!"
"Down with Umbridge!" the students of the Room of Requirement shouted excitedly.
But shouting is one thing, but shouting won't defeat Umbridge.
Among the students, there are also some who are a bit more realistic.
"How do we defeat Umbridge?" Hermione asked slowly.
"It's too difficult for us to fight against the Aurors on our own," she said slowly. "Umbridge has dozens of Aurors at the school—"
"We might not even be a match for each other one-on-one, let alone one-on-two."
“We’re not just these people,” said a Hufflepuff student standing next to Hermione. “My roommates don’t like Umbridge either!”
"If they knew we were going to rebel, they would join us!"
"That's right, that's right, my roommates don't like them either!"
Immediately, all the students expressed their dissatisfaction with Umbridge.
It's clear that she's somewhat disliked at Hogwarts.
"Quiet down—quiet down!" Hermione called out, seeing the crowd starting to get a little chaotic again. "But if that's the case, then we're all going to fight the Ministry of Magic together!"
"This is not only illegal, but also very dangerous."
"We're not afraid of breaking the law!" Harry said. "Dumbledore is still considered a fugitive by them!"
"Could it be Headmaster Dumbledore?"
"Headmaster Dumbledore is our hero!"
Harry's words drew nods from the students: "That's right, Headmaster Dumbledore is our hero!"
"We would feel honored to be criminals in the Ministry of Magic like him!"
"That's very dangerous," Hermione warned. "What if someone gets hurt, or even loses their life?"
"We're just students—"
Her words calmed the students down for a moment. Hermione wasn't wrong—although Umbridge was annoying and not giving holidays was infuriating—it was a bit too stupid to lose one's life over something like that.
"We need the professors' support," Harry said slowly after a few seconds of thought. "There must be some professors who dislike Umbridge—"
"I think the professors all really dislike her," Ron added slowly.
"There's still a week until Christmas—" Hermione said, calculating the time, "and in that time we must contact the professor who supports us—"
"I think Professor Hamilton will definitely support us," one student said. "Professor Hamilton must really hate Umbridge."
"But Professor Hamilton—well, how should I put it—" Hermione said, pursing her lips.
If Professor Hamilton were to join, that would be the best thing of all—in fact, with Professor Hamilton present, the participation of other professors would seem less important.
However—but Professor Hamilton wasn't keen on getting involved in these matters—Hermione could tell that Professor Hamilton didn't want a conflict with the Ministry of Magic—
Hermione had a vague feeling that if she asked her, the answer would likely be vague.
“I think Professor McGonagall might be willing to help us—” Ron said slowly. “She and Umbridge don’t get along very well.”
"Professor Sprout might be willing to help us too."
"And Professor Flitwick!"
"Ah—Professor Snape probably won't help us—"
"Perhaps Hagrid will help us?"
In just a few minutes, the students had roughly figured out which professors might be willing to stand with them and which professors might not.
The power of students coming together is immense, especially when everyone works together with one heart. It didn't take much effort to assign who would contact which professors and who would contact other students.
Hermione took the initiative to contact the Pinecone Party, the largest student organization in Hogwarts, which had always had considerable influence among the students—but Hermione wasn't very hopeful about it—because the Pinecone Party was originally founded as a fan club for Professor Hamilton.
If Professor Hamilton is unwilling to get involved, it will undoubtedly be very difficult to get the Pinecone Party students to join in.
But seeing everyone so united, Hermione didn't have the heart to dampen their spirits—in fact, she was even a little excited.
Not only her, but the students were all a little excited.
"Shouldn't our organization have a name?" a student asked at this point, "like the Pinecone Party."
"How about we call ourselves the Dumbledore Party?" Ron said slowly.
"This looks a bit like plagiarism," another student shook his head. "We should have something a little more unique."
"Then—how about Dumbledore's Army?" Luna suddenly spoke up. She hadn't said a word throughout the entire meeting, but now she slowly said, "That name might be quite nice?"
"Dumbledore's Army—" Harry muttered the name to himself and then nodded sharply: "That's a great name!"
""
"It's very distinctive and catchy!"
"Then let's call it that!"
And so, amidst the cheers of the students, Dumbledore's Army was formed.
