Battle Through the Heavens: Starting from the Jia Ma Empire

Chapter 165 Plotting Against the Heron Protector

Under the cover of night, the Yunlan Sect was shrouded in wisps of mist, giving it an ethereal feel. However, Yun Shan, who was in seclusion at the old sect master's retreat on the back mountain of the Yunlan Sect, was in a bad mood. Protector Lu was one thing, but even a Dou Wang could so easily break into the Yunlan Sect, showing that he was simply not taken seriously.

"Master Lin Feng has intruded into this place so late at night. If you have no urgent business, please stay at the Yunlan Sect to refine medicine for three years!"

Yunshan waved his hand gloomily, revealing his Dou Zong aura without a doubt.

"Boom!"

The two Dou Zong auras collided, producing a tremendous sound. Even the surrounding rock walls cracked and teetered on the brink of collapse. Fortunately, Lin Feng had set up a seal; otherwise, the entire Yunlan Sect would have been alerted by now.

"A Dou Zong level expert!"

Yunshan was extremely shocked and said, word by word.

"How is that possible? According to intelligence, you are a native of the Empire, and you are only twenty years old. How could you have reached such a level in alchemy while simultaneously advancing so rapidly in your battle qi realm? Could it be that you have been possessed by some old monster?"

"Haha, thank you for your concern, Senior Yunshan. I'm just a little more talented!"

Lin Feng waved his hand slightly, then his expression turned serious.

"I apologize for my intrusion in visiting so late at night. However, I have come to inquire about Senior Yunshan's role as a protector of the Soul Hall, and I hope you can answer my questions truthfully!"

"Master Lin Feng," Yun Shan's expression, which had just calmed down, changed again, becoming uncertain. "To be honest, Master, my advancement to the Dou Zong realm was indeed due to the help of the Soul Palace."

"I'm afraid it's not just that! I suspect the Soul Palace has also placed a soul restriction deep within Senior Yunshan's soul. If he doesn't obey, his life may be in danger!"

"What?!"

Yunshan's expression changed constantly throughout the night. He was in such a terrible state; how could he be schemed against even while quietly cultivating in seclusion?

"Master Lin Feng, since I advanced to the Dou Zong realm, I have been using my Dou Qi to examine my body, but I have not found anything unusual. Could it be that you...?"

Although Yunshan didn't say the rest, Lin Feng naturally understood his suspicions and wasn't angry. After all, how could ordinary people know the terrifying power of the Soul Palace?

"Senior Yunshan, do you have the courage to let me examine you?"

Upon hearing Lin Feng's words, Yun Shan, unusually, showed no anger. Instead, a single thought echoed in his mind: "Yun Shan, since I was able to help you advance to the Dou Zong level, I naturally have ways to take your life, hehehehe."

"Although I have been in seclusion, I have learned of Master Lin Feng's noble character through the sect's channels. Please, Master, make your move!"

After hesitating for a while, Yunshan finally decided to gamble on Lin Feng's character, slowly got up, and relaxed his mind.

Seeing Yunshan cooperate so easily, Lin Feng, though unaware of the reason, knew this was not the time to hesitate; he had to act quickly. After all, no one could say for sure when Protector Lu would return.

Reaching out to Yunshan's arm, a surge of powerful five-colored battle qi flowed out and slowly circulated within Yunshan's body, while Lin Feng's mind also entered.

After Lin Feng's powerful soul force searched twice, he still couldn't detect anything unusual. It seemed that Yun Shan's body contained no other kind of aura besides wind-attribute battle qi.

"The people of the Soul Palace would never be so kind. In the original story, it seems that Protector Lu had some kind of control method that allowed Yun Shan, who was also a Dou Zong, to be devoured without any resistance."

Lin Feng's soul power continued to probe, when suddenly, a flash of inspiration struck him: "Could it be?"

Thinking of a certain point, Lin Feng's soul power surged into Yun Shan's mind again. "Not only Yun Shan, but even my powerful soul perception couldn't detect it. So, it can only be in this place."

"Senior Yunshan, if Protector Lu wants to place a restriction on you that you, at the Dou Zong realm, cannot detect, it can only be deep within your soul. Senior, would you allow me to investigate?"

Although he already had some suspicions, Lin Feng did not act immediately. Although he could kill Yun Shan with a single blow if he was unprepared, the depths of the mind are different, hiding the essence of a person—the soul.

If Lin Feng had any malicious intentions, he could even secretly establish some kind of control method here. Therefore, Lin Feng must obtain Yunshan's consent.

"Very well!" Yunshan, who had not yet been influenced by Protector Lu, was also a hero of his time. "Master Lin Feng, my life is in your hands. Please, Master, make your move!"

As soon as Yunshan finished speaking, Lin Feng didn't waste any more time and sent his soul power into Yunshan's mind.

"Boom!"

Yunshan felt a series of booming sounds, but Lin Feng's lips curled into a smile. "I found you here after all!"

"Five Elements Sealing Barrier!"

The battle qi surging into Yunshan's body, under Lin Feng's exquisite control, transformed into a barrier that shifted between reality and illusion, enveloping a dark and evil mist deep within Yunshan's mind.

"call"

Lin Feng let out a soft breath, feeling somewhat exhausted. This task was no simple matter; the restrictions left by Protector Lu were not easily controlled. He had to ensure that Yun Shan was not harmed while also delivering a fatal blow. After all, if the black mist were to erupt in Yun Shan's mind, not only would Protector Lu detect it, but Yun Shan, in the best-case scenario, would be rendered an idiot.

"Senior Yunshan, please look. This is the restriction that Protector Lu uses to control you!"

Although Yunshan didn't know what had happened, the sense of relief emanating from the depths of his soul was undeniable. Upon hearing Lin Feng's words, he slowly opened his eyes and saw the black mist controlled in Lin Feng's palm.

"That wretched Protector Heron! He usually hides in the black mist. I never thought that I would also be controlled by this evil black mist."

Yunshan spoke angrily, growing angrier the more he thought about it. He couldn't help but gather fighting spirit in his palm, wanting to shatter the black mist with a single blow.

"Senior Yunshan, please wait. If we break this black mist barrier now and Protector Lu senses it, then all our efforts will be in vain."

"What does Master Lin Feng mean?"

"Senior Yunshan, we just need to do this and that."

Lin Feng slowly explained his plan, and Yun Shan listened, nodding from time to time, his eyes growing brighter and brighter.

"Hahaha, Master Lin Feng, that's the plan! We'll definitely capture this Protector Heron!"

The two exchanged a glance, then discussed the details again before Lin Feng quietly departed. Yun Shan, controlling the restriction Lin Feng had left behind, slowly channeled it into his mind to avoid being discovered by Protector Lu. With the barrier left by Lin Feng in place, although he felt nauseous, he wasn't afraid of the black mist.
