Battle Through the Heavens: Starting from the Jia Ma Empire

Chapter 59 Alchemy Department

In the outer courtyard of Canaan Academy, many students were chatting in small groups after finishing a day's classes, relieving their fatigue.

"Whoosh"

Suddenly, two figures swiftly moving through the sky caught their attention. Although their speed made it impossible to discern their appearance, the enormous, roaring energy wings behind them were clearly visible, eliciting gasps of admiration from the students below.

After flying for a while, Elder Hu guided Lin Feng to land in front of an office building. Fortunately, it was already after get off work hours; otherwise, seeing such a young Dou Wang as Lin Feng would surely have caused another stir.

"Master Lin Feng, this is the vice dean's office. Please wait a moment while I explain the situation."

After Elder Hu led Lin Feng to a reception room, he gestured for Lin Feng to wait while he went to explain to Vice Dean Hu Qian.

Lin Feng responded to Elder Hu, and after he left, he wandered around the reception room on his own.

"Simple and unadorned, yet the material exudes a subtle fragrance, which matches the image of the student I had in mind."

"What?!"

Just as Lin Feng was killing time, an incredulous shout suddenly came from the top-floor office, as if its owner had heard some incredible information.

Fortunately, the isolation in this office space was quite effective, and Lin Feng didn't bother to investigate, otherwise he would have witnessed the stunned expression on Vice Dean Hu Qian's face.

"Elder Hu, are you really not lying to me? How could an eighteen-year-old Battle King, who is also a fourth-grade alchemist, possibly be born in the Jia Ma Empire? In fact, it's impossible to find such a person even in the entire Northwest Continent."

After regaining his composure, Vice Dean Hu Qian slowly spoke to Elder Hu, observing his expression as if to see if he was possessed.

"Um, Vice Dean, I am, after all, a peak Dou Wang. For someone to possess me, it would have to be at least a Dou Wang of the same level, or even a Dou Huang. If someone of that level really intervenes, will the recruitment team be able to return safely?"

After confirming that Elder Hu was not talking nonsense, Hu Qian's expression gradually became serious. He gently stroked his beloved beard and fell into deep thought.

"Elder Hu, according to your account, Lin Feng has achieved so much at such a young age, which is enough to show that he is definitely not someone that the forces in the Black Corner Region could cultivate. However, he must have an extremely powerful teacher behind him, perhaps even a high-level alchemist. Why would he come to Canaan Academy?"

Elder Hu was also puzzled by Hu Qian's actions. However, he believed that no matter what Hu Qian's plans were, a mere Dou Wang entering an academy full of powerful individuals couldn't possibly cause any trouble.

Of course, the final decision rested with Vice Dean Hu Qian, so he didn't say much.

"Very well! His future cannot be decided by the two of us discussing it here. I will go and see this extraordinary young prodigy for myself."

After speaking, he took the lead and pushed open the door, heading towards the reception room. Elder Hu followed closely behind.

"Haha, no wonder young friend Lin Feng has achieved so much at such a young age. With such hard work, it is really not surprising."

Hu Qian, who had just entered, saw Lin Feng studying some kind of scroll at his seat and couldn't help but sigh, realizing that the hard work behind a genius was undeniable.

"This must be the vice dean of the academy. He certainly has the demeanor of a teacher."

Seeing that the newcomer had slightly gray hair but a ruddy complexion and a cheerful voice, Lin Feng immediately recognized him as Vice Dean Hu Qian. He waved the scroll in his hand and continued.

"I don't deserve such praise from the vice dean; it was just a review."

"Young friend Lin Feng is too modest. I am well aware of the impetuousness of young people, and it is rare to see a young man as steady and grounded as you."

After a round of mutual flattery, Huqian got down to business.

"But I wonder, with such talent as young friend Lin Feng, why does he still need to enter Canaan Academy?"

Lin Feng didn't intend to keep Hu Qian in suspense and repeated what he had told Yao Chen. Combined with his own verifiable background as a native of the Jia Ma Empire, Hu Qian and Elder Hu nodded repeatedly, stroking their beards.

"Master Zhongzhou taught me in my youth that a tree that stands out in the forest should seek refuge in the Jiama Empire."

Lin Feng's words were half true and half false, making it difficult for people to discern the truth from the falsehood. After speaking, he asked Vice Dean Hu Qian.

"I wonder if I, a Battle King and a fourth-grade alchemist, will be able to secure a place at Canaan Academy?"

"Haha, Elder Lin Feng, you're too kind. How could Canaan Academy dare to refuse such a prodigy?"

After comparing Lin Feng's description with the information he received from Elder Hu, Hu Qian believed about 70% of it and immediately agreed to Lin Feng's request to become an elder. As for the remaining 30%, he would find out later by sending spies to investigate the Jia Ma Empire.

"The vice dean is quite magnanimous. In that case, I have another piece of news, which I will not hide from you two."

Seeing that Hu Qian agreed so readily, Lin Feng also planned to reveal more details, which would help solidify his position in the academy.

"Actually, my alchemy rank has reached the fifth grade, which means that I am a Dou Wang and a fifth-grade alchemist."

"What?!!"

As soon as Lin Feng finished speaking, Hu Qian and Elder Hu gasped in disbelief.

Seeing their expressions, Lin Feng understood. After they calmed down, Lin Feng spoke up.

"I came to the academy not only to seek protection, but also to hope to gain the academy's support so that I can break through to the sixth rank."

Upon hearing this, Vice Dean Hu Qian and Elder Hu exchanged a glance, looking somewhat embarrassed. In the end, it was Hu Qian who spoke.

"Elder Lin Feng, to be honest, the highest-ranking alchemist in the academy is only a peak fifth-grade Fire Elder. In the Black Corner Region, the highest-ranking alchemist is the Medicine King of Maple City—Han Feng!"

Seeing that the two seemed to have misunderstood something, Lin Feng explained.

"You two have misunderstood. All I need is support regarding the medicinal herbs. As for the sixth-grade alchemy technique, my master did pass it down to me."

"Haha, this matter is simple. Elder Lin Feng, please rest assured. Elder Huo from the Alchemy Department will take over the handover at that time."

Upon hearing Lin Feng's words, Vice Dean Hu Qian couldn't stop smiling. If the academy could truly gain a sixth-grade alchemist as a result, it would be worth the enormous price, let alone the simple act of providing protection and investing in medicinal herbs, which was merely expected.

"In that case, Elder Hu, please lead Elder Lin Feng to the Alchemy Department first. I believe Elder Huo will be delighted."

After giving Elder Hu an instruction, Hu Qian turned to Lin Feng and said...

"Elder Lin Feng, I need to attend a meeting in a few days. It would be good if the elders and mentors could get to know each other and avoid any misunderstandings. After all, Elder Lin Feng looks so young, it's hard to believe he has achieved so much."

"Then I shall respectfully accept your offer!"

"Elder Lin Feng, please."

Elder Hu, who was standing nearby, got up and led Lin Feng to the Department of Alchemy. After greeting Vice Dean Hu Qian, Lin Feng also went out.

Only Vice Dean Hu Qian, stroking his beard, remained, gazing in the direction Lin Feng had left, sighing at the young prodigy. Then, he spoke to the shadows.

"Go and investigate Elder Lin Feng's background."

This is not because he is two-faced, but because as the vice dean of the School of Foreign Languages, he must prioritize the safety of the school.

As for Lin Feng, he had already arrived at a place filled with the rich aroma of medicinal herbs, led by Elder Hu.

As Lin Feng strolled through the medicinal field, he saw many spiritual herbs that could be used to refine grade three pills, and even occasionally a few auxiliary spiritual herbs that could be used to refine grade four pills.

As for higher-level spiritual herbs, they all have strict growth requirements, which cannot be achieved through artificial large-scale breeding.

After walking for a while, Lin Feng and Elder Hu finally saw an old man dressed in hemp clothing, who was bending over and tending to a medicinal herb.

"Old man, look what I've brought you!"
