Chapter 196 Maxwell...who is he?

In the Forbidden Forest, Kane experimented for a long time and finally succeeded in shrinking the magic that could shatter half of Hogwarts' windows into a mushroom cloud that could fit in a camp.

After another afternoon of practice, he successfully shrunk the mushroom cloud to the size of a person, and successfully reduced a group AoE attack to a noble single-target damage.

That way, if there are onlookers, I won't be afraid of being accidentally hurt.

Unlike the unparalleled satisfaction in my heart, there was a slight emptiness in my stomach.

In short... I'm hungry.

He took off his top hat and rummaged around in it, but found nothing.

"..." He sighed, but fortunately, although he was out of food in his hat, he still had plenty of other ingredients.

He pulled out a few twigs and spider silk, and quickly twisted them into several birdcages. After scattering some seeds inside, a few dim-witted birds flew in and were caught in the birdcages.

Next up is the ever-popular water-injected meatballs. Despite being water-injected, they still taste sweet and delicious and are very filling.

After eating and drinking his fill, Kane even took pity on the last little bird and released it.

The Silverwing area.

After Kane left, having eaten and drunk his fill, the little bird he had released was still hungry. Fortunately, birds love what some people don't like to eat. The little bird fluttered its wings and soon spotted a berry in the corner of the camp.

After the bird finished eating the berries and flew away, a bluish-white seed popped out from the berry remains with a "pop".

The moment he returned to the Gryffindor common room, he sensed the faint sense of death emanating from Harry and the others; they were all listless, utterly helpless and desperate.

"What's wrong with you guys?" Kane asked as he walked over.

"Malfoy told his father about what happened in the Magical Creatures class," Hermione said quietly.

"So what? Isn't this normal? Harry was seriously injured in the crash, but he's perfectly fine. You can't just expel Hagrid because he was scared by Buckbeak, can you?" Kane still didn't understand why they were acting this way.

"Hagrid is fine, of course, but Buckbeak is in trouble. The Malfoys have sued Buckbeak, and if they lose, Buckbeak could be sentenced to death," Ron explained.

"Emmmm..." How was Kane supposed to answer that?

Sentencing animals?

So the laws of the magical world are indeed too advanced.

"So that's what's causing your current distress?" Kane was now a little curious, wondering if Harry and the others had also caught the Slytherin bug.

Why can't you all think outside the box?

Buckbeak has wings! Hagrid couldn't find him for less than two hours after the reins were removed; did he expect the Ministry of Magic's swarm of insects to find him?

That's no joke.

"We actually thought of it, but Hagrid didn't," Harry said quietly.

"...Then why don't you talk to Hagrid?" Kane raised an eyebrow, still not understanding.

"But what if Hagrid lets Buckbeak go, and the Malfoys start targeting Hagrid?"

Kane pursed his lips, admitting that Harry was standing much taller than him this time.

"So you're still bothered by Buckbeak's situation?"

After Kane asked his question, he saw Harry and the other two nod in unison, and shrugged helplessly. There was nothing he could do to help with this.

Perhaps... I could try to comfort Hagrid? Even though Hagrid's Buckbeak is dead, there's still the bull I gave him.

The walnut is still alive.

Out with the old, in with the new; at worst, I can always make Hagrid bigger, taller, and stronger myself someday.

Unlike Kane and his companions, who had no ideas, Hermione, from a middle-class family in the Muggle world, quickly came up with a solution.

At worst, it's just a lawsuit, so I'll go ahead and do it. I'll go to the library now and see if there are any other cases I can refer to.

Although my initial goal was to meet Kane's parents, I had no choice, since Buckbeak's life was in danger.

Therefore, Kane's role should be postponed for now.

This is true of almost everything; new problems are more important than old ones. This was true for Hermione; Buckbeak's matter made her temporarily forget about her desire to meet Kane's parents and cause them trouble.

Ron, on the other hand, forgot about Buckbeak because of the ever-increasing amount of coursework, and Harry was the same; now the Quidditch training was getting heavier and heavier.

Kane... he never really had anything to do, except for that one day in that unfamiliar Forbidden Forest camp when he managed to control his Darkmoon Reflex to a remarkably precise degree. After that, he resumed his secluded, lazy life at Hogwarts.

After all, compared to Hermione researching, Ron catching up on homework, and Harry training, he was indeed quite carefree.

Of course, except for Slytherins who still jump around and beg for a beating every day.

But those are minor issues.

That evening, Percy handed out a form in the common room. It was a form for going to Hogsmeade Village next weekend, and each young wizard needed to have their parents sign a waiver on it.

Clearly, the fear of students taking responsibility in school activities is not unique to Muggle schools; even magical schools like Hogwarts experience the same thing.

However, an embarrassing problem arises, and these two problems mainly concern Kane and Harry, the two unfortunate little guys.

Harry was alright. Although the Dursleys didn't like him and had an unusual talent for making him suffer, at least they were tangible guardians.

If Harry just backs down and sends the form back along with no more than ten Galleons, the matter will be considered closed.

But Kane is different; he doesn't have a guardian at all. Who can he get to sign off on this? Dumbledore or Maxwell?

Wait a minute... Maxwell's words actually make sense. After all, in a sense, he sat on the Shadow Toilet earlier than me, so if you really want to, he can be considered my elder.

Soon, Maxwell, who was secretly spying on or harassing Charlie's sister in the Eternal Realm, was summoned out by Kane.

"Let me guess, you would never contact me unless there's something wrong," Maxwell said quietly as he circled Kane.

"Almost there, sign it." Kane pointed to the form on the desk.

Maxwell, however, seemed somewhat surprised: "So, you've finally learned how to make people sign magical contracts that allow them to sell their souls while you're at this magic school?"

"It's the little wizard's application to leave school next week," Kane said, rolling his eyes.

"Okay, okay, which name? Maxwell or William Carter?" Maxwell had nothing to say about such trivial matters and picked up the quill pen on the table to ask.

"The former, I suppose," Kane said.

That night, two questions popped into Dumbledore and Hermione's heads, keeping them awake at night.

The former waited all night in the office, just waiting for Kane to come in so he could sign, and of course he had to sign.

The latter glanced at the forms while helping Percy collect them—well, he did it intentionally.

The next day, the two of them appeared in the auditorium with dark circles under their eyes, mechanically eating their meals, while the questions in their minds remained the same.

Who is Maxwell?
