Chapter 136: Unveiling the Secret

"3 minutes and 27 seconds overtime! The sonar is completely unusable! Shakky!"

Thomas's tense scream drowned out the piercing alarm in the submarine cabin.

The red warning lights flashed wildly in the cramped control cabin, casting flickering light on and off the faces of the three girls.

The submarine was rocking violently, and the pressure of the deep sea caused the bulkheads to creak and groan.

"Found it!"

Xia Qi suddenly looked up from the periscope, her face bearing red marks from looking so intently.

She gripped the periscope's handle tightly with one hand and shouted at Osa, "On the left! On the left! Osa! On the left!"

"I heard you!"

Osa was frantically operating the controls at the submarine's main console, her hands moving so fast they were blurry. Sweat beaded on her forehead, and a few strands of pink hair clung to her cheeks.

At least twenty dials on the control panel were jumping around erratically, and one of the three screens was black, while another was filled with static.

"I'm more anxious than you! You know how complicated this thing is!"

Ou Sha gritted her teeth and typed a series of commands on the control panel.

This submarine is the latest model from the Academy of Sciences of the Kingdom of Gaya, which integrates seastone, coating technology, and the shellfish propulsion system of the Sky Island.

Normally the operation is complicated enough, but now half of the system is malfunctioning, and the rest can only be managed manually.

"Toma! Ignore that damned sonic boom! Go and manually operate the isolation chamber! Now! Suck Oro in!"

Without turning her head, Ousha roared, her eyes fixed on the only remaining working screen in front of her: "The shockwave from the explosion has malfunctioned part of the control system! I can't control the isolation pod from here!"

"clear!"

Before Toma could even respond to Osha, she stumbled and staggered toward the isolation chamber in the swaying submarine compartment.

During the nearly two months of submarine training, although her operational skills were never as good as her two older sisters, Osa was naturally sensitive to mechanics and Shakky had excellent eyesight and reaction speed, Thomas was definitely the most familiar with the layout of this submarine.

The cabin was shaking, and the floor was bouncing back and forth between 15 and 40 degrees.

The alarm was still blaring, and the red light cast Thomas's shadow long and short.

Thomas rushed to the manual control panel of the isolation pod. To avoid accidental activation, she pressed her entire body against the panel, using her weight to hold down the vibrating control levers.

"Outer hatch—open!"

She was panting, her right hand gripping a red wheel, and she turned it clockwise with all her might.

The clicking sound of gears meshing came from inside the bulkhead.

The outer door of the isolation chamber slowly opened outwards amidst flashing red lights.

The surging seawater swept in, carrying Oro and several small deep-sea fish. Oro was curled up, his right arm crossed over his chest, and his left arm was gone from his biceps down.

It took only three seconds for seawater to fill the isolation chamber.

Thomas stared intently at the circular observation window of the isolation chamber. She saw Oro's body tumbling inside the chamber with the current, crashing against the walls, and bouncing away.

"It's being sucked in!" Thomas forced himself to turn around and shout.

"I saw it!"

Shaki's voice came from the other end of the passage: "I'm isolating this section of the compartment! Prepare to drain the water!"

A muffled sound came from inside the submarine as the air pressure valve closed.

"Pressure equalization takes time! Thomas! Once the pressure gauge reaches a safe range, open the inner hatch immediately!"

The barometer needle on the control panel is slowly climbing. It takes time for the pressure to drop from deep sea to atmospheric pressure; if it's too fast, people will get decompression sickness.

Normally, Oro wouldn't need this step, but now they dare not gamble.

Thomas stared at the barometer, then glanced at Oro through the observation window.

"I can't wait!"

Thomas quickly turned his head to look at the pure gold ring on Shakky's hand. After confirming that Shakky was wearing it securely, Thomas simultaneously opened the internal drainage system and the inner hatch of the isolation chamber.

Seawater surged out of the isolation chamber, rushing into the enclosed compartment like a burst dam, instantly submerging one-third of the section.

As soon as Toma saw Oro's figure float out of the isolation pod, he pounced on him.

Seawater rushed into her nose and mouth, salty and bitter. With her eyes closed, she groped forward by feel, her fingers touching the fabric of Oro's clothes.

Then, grabbing Oro's shoulders, he used all his strength to lift Oro's upper body out of the water.

Oro was very heavy, and Thomas almost couldn't hold on to him. He slipped and fell backward.

Shaki rushed over just in time. She was half a head taller than Thomas, and she supported Oro from behind by placing her hands under his armpits. Together with Thomas, they helped Oro stay upright.

The seawater was already up to my chest.

The drainage system is working, but it's not fast enough.

The water level in the compartment is dropping at a visible rate, but it will take at least another minute to empty it.

"Drink—cough cough cough cough!"

Oro suddenly started coughing violently.

He suddenly opened his eyes, opened his mouth wide and greedily inhaled the air, his chest heaving like a bellows.

"Cough—cough cough—"

He almost went into shock and lost consciousness, but fortunately he was able to breathe air in time.

The lungs started working again, oxygen rushed into the brain, and consciousness slowly crawled back from the darkness of the deep sea.

But he didn't even have time to thank the girls.

Having just come back to life and regained a little strength, Oro gasped for breath and struggled to speak, each word broken as if forced out of his throat: "Just in case—I'll tell you to remember—"

He gasped for breath, his left hand gripping Shakky's arm tightly: "The source of power is—immortality, the power to devour, and the power to dominate—"

Thomas was stunned.

Shaki reacted even faster, turning her head and shouting towards the control room, "Osa! Record! Quickly!"

"Varied----"

Osa's voice came through the communication system, but it only lasted for one word before it stopped.

"Auro is speaking! Important information! Record it!"

Xia Qi yelled into the communication system, hoping that Ou Sha could record it.

Oro was still panting, but his speech was quickening, not because he had recovered, but because he knew he could fall unconscious again at any moment.

The information he brought out from the City of the Abyss was too much and too chaotic, like a pot of boiling porridge churning in his mind.

He must take advantage of the fact that he can still think and get the most crucial information out.

"The Shallow Sea and Deep Sea Contracts — are extensions of immortality and the power of domination —"

He gasped for breath after every few words, veins bulging on his forehead: "The range of the Shallow Sea Contract is limited to two kilometers. The Deep Sea Contract has no range limit, but both contracts, while granting power to their counterparts, will also deprive them of their maximum lifespan."

Shaki and Toma were also carefully remembering Oro's words.

"Dark-to-dominance is the embodiment of domineering authority—not direct control—"

"It is to make the opponent's desires run wild and become demonized under specific conditions—a complete brainwashing that prioritizes the caster's commands above all else—"

Oro's eyes began to lose focus; his vision blurred, and everything appeared as a double image.

Perhaps it was a side effect of oxygen deprivation, or perhaps the chaotic information in his mind was assaulting his consciousness.

"The upper limit of the energy absorbed depends on the previous decade—the number of souls filled with negative emotions provided by the contractor." After saying the last word, Auro went limp.

His head was tilted to one side, his eyes were closed, and he was still breathing, but very weakly, with barely any rise and fall of his chest.

"Auro!"

'

Thomas panicked.
