Chapter 136, Section 033: Madness

This was a huge iron cage several meters high, containing a gigantic beast that appeared to be some kind of canine creature. Its fur was dark red and wreathed in blazing flames, as if it were draped in a fur woven from fire.

Hellhound.

This is a very ancient magical life form, a servant of the gods in ancient times, possessing extremely powerful strength.

Hellhounds are born with the ability to control fire. Even a newborn hellhound cub possesses strength comparable to an apprentice. As they grow older, they will gradually awaken a series of innate supernatural abilities imprinted in their bloodline, and their strength can grow to the level of a sage, or even a great sage. They are among the most powerful magical life forms in the world.

However, the hellhound should have become extinct with the end of the age of gods, so why is there a living hellhound in this place?

The answer may lie in the eyes of this hellhound—

Nilu.

Wizards are extremely sensitive to spiritual power and the soul. The appearance of any living being may change, but its spirit and soul will not change.

Standing in front of this hellhound, Rosie clearly felt that the mental energy fluctuations it released were exactly the same as those of the little girl Nel on the ship earlier. In other words, this hellhound was actually Nel.

"Hehehehe, how about it? My masterpiece?"

Just then, a neurotic laugh rang out, and a disheveled old man with hair that looked like a madman walked over.

He stared fervently at the hellhound in the cage, and began to explain to Rosie with a look of ecstasy: "It's been over twenty years. I've had that part of the hellhound's body in some ruins for over twenty years."

"I was thinking at the time, what an amazing thing it would be if we could bring this ancient behemoth back to life using these cells, enough to shake the entire wizarding world."

"Unfortunately, it's not easy."

"Over the past twenty years, I have conducted countless experiments and replaced many mother cells, but unfortunately their bodies were too weak to withstand the immense power of the hellhound. All the cells burst the mother cell during the growth process."

"I originally thought I would never be able to realize my long-cherished wish in this lifetime, but fortunately, God favored me and I finally found a suitable mother in my twentieth year."

He placed one hand on the cage, his expression one of fascination, and said, "Ancient Druid bloodline, what a rare physique!"

"Born with the ability to fuse with the lives of wild beasts, even the cells of a powerful hellhound can be neutralized by this bloodline ability. With the help of this miraculous power, I have finally, finally achieved my masterpiece!"

He didn't ask about Roch's origins, nor did he admonish Roch, the intruder. Instead, he introduced his artwork as if he were an artist addressing a visiting guest.

Luo Xi had no idea what was going on in this guy's head; perhaps his head had been acting strangely for a long time.

However, he had no interest in communicating with such a lunatic.

He simply reached out and grabbed the crimson scythe of death in his hand.

Then he asked, "Any last words?"

"Ha ha ha ha!"

His reply was a burst of maniacal laughter: "You rule-abiding white wizards would never understand! All you know is to create a bunch of complicated rules and regulations, and then tell others to follow these so-called rules."

"This is wrong!"

"These rules are obstacles. A wizard doesn't need to follow any rules on his path. The only rule is to strive for power. Only in this way can he possibly find the legendary truth and eternity! This is the true essence of being a wizard!"

"Foolish people who don't understand the true meaning are just wasting resources in this world; they should just die!"

He roared like a madman, and a large six-pointed star magic circle appeared beneath his feet. In that instant, the entire laboratory seemed to come alive.

On the laboratory shelves were bottles containing blood samples. Suddenly, a series of 'bang bang bang' sounds rang out as the bottles exploded one after another, and the scarlet blood inside gushed out, gathered into clumps, and floated around the old madman.

Immediately afterwards, a series of clicking sounds rang out as the cages on both sides of the corridor outside opened one after another, and hordes of monsters emerged from them.

The old madman pointed at Luo Xi and shouted, "Kill him!"

"roar!"

At the old madman's command, the monsters in the corridor swarmed towards Luo Xi.

The candle inside the headless man's glass dome suddenly shot up, and his body rapidly expanded, instantly transforming him into a giant several meters tall. Raising his enormous fist, he was the first to attack Rosie.

A loud "BOOM!"

The fist slammed heavily into Rosie's defensive force field, causing ripples to spread around the invisible barrier.

At the same time, other monsters that followed also launched an attack on Rosie, including half-humans stitched together from wild beasts, organ monsters pieced together from countless organs, and human spiders with multiple limbs, and so on.

These monsters, after being transformed through cruel magical experiments, possessed immense power. For example, the man in the glass dome was incredibly strong, while the halfling stitched together from beasts had hands as sharp as blades, and the organ monster could spray highly corrosive acid.

Under the onslaught of this massive wave of monsters, Rosie's defensive field began to flicker frequently. Although it wouldn't be broken in the short term, the pressure was noticeably increasing.

He immediately raised his hand and summoned several greatswords of ice to slash at the monsters around him. At the same time, he took out several alchemical bombs from his spatial ring and threw them forward. Instantly, a series of loud rumbling sounds echoed, and all kinds of flesh, blood, and limbs flew everywhere.

After a barrage of attacks, it took a minute or two before Rosie finally managed to clear out the horde of monsters.

Then, his gaze fell on the old man with a nervous disorder at the front.

The old man clearly hadn't expected his henchmen to be so easily defeated, and his eyes widened in surprise for a moment.

He muttered under his breath, "They're all useless trash!"

Then, he raised his head to look at Rosie, his nerves seemingly returning to normal: "You brat from the White Witch Domain, daring to come and cause trouble in our Dark Forest all by yourself, should I praise your courage or laugh at your stupidity?"

"But since you've come here and damaged my laboratory and wizard tower, then you'll stay here forever!"

As he spoke, the blood swirling around him was rapidly spinning and compressing, quickly transforming into a thumb-sized, blood-red bead.

The old man opened his mouth and swallowed the red bead, and then a very strange scene unfolded.
