Upon hearing this, Xia Yuan's breath hitched.

It's that same condition again.

That condition was enough to nail him to the pillar of shame in history books, never to be able to rise again.

He was silent.

Inside the tent, apart from the soft rustling sound of the worms crawling, there was no other sound.

The sound was like countless ants, slowly crawling into his ear canal and gnawing away at his last remaining sanity.

Mr. Wu didn't urge him, but just quietly watched him.

Those pale, pupil-less eyes were colder than the sharpest knife in the world.

Scenes flashed uncontrollably through Xia Yuan's mind.

The siege engines that were blown into pieces, the soldiers who were so frightened that they trampled each other.

And on the distant cliff, there was Lin Mo's excessively young face, yet it carried a mocking air, like a cat toying with a mouse.

His 400,000-strong army was his greatest asset in his quest to conquer the world.

Are we just going to be smashed to pieces here by those broken iron balls falling from the sky?

Do not!

no way!

Xia Yuan is destined to sit in that position!

A hint of madness and bloodlust quietly spread from the depths of his eyes.

It was a thirst for power, a madness for revenge.

"good!"

A single word was squeezed out from between Xia Yuan's teeth, carrying the smell of blood.

"I... agree!"

Xia Yuan raised his head, staring intently at Mr. Wu, and spoke slowly and deliberately.

"If only you could help me kill Lin Mo, then I could conquer Blackwater Pass."

"Those 100,000 young boys and girls, I... am willing to capture them for you, sir, to help you refine... the Blood Infant Gu!"

The words fell.

The dense chirping of insects inside the tent eerily paused for a moment.

"Giggle...giggle..."

A dry, harsh laugh, like the grinding of bones, came from Mr. Wu's throat.

He slowly stood up, and the worms that had crawled all over his body retreated back into his robe like the receding tide.

"Excellent, excellent, excellent! Your Highness is indeed a man destined for great things!"

"However... you have to keep your word. I hate it when people lie to me..."

"Don't worry, sir!"

Xia Yuan immediately bowed, his posture extremely humble.

"I swear on my life that I would never dare to deceive you in the slightest!"

"Giggle giggle..."

Mr. Wu let out another strange laugh and stiffly walked out of the eerie formation.

With his movements, an even more intense rustling sound came from beneath his wide black robe, as if thousands of insects were wriggling under his skin.

He walked straight out of the tent, and Xia Yuan, not daring to delay, immediately followed.

As soon as the curtain was lifted, the noise and chaos of the outside world rushed in.

The soldiers' terrified screams and the officers' hoarse shouts, mixed with the muffled sounds of another explosion in the distance, intertwined to create a tragic elegy for the end of the world.

Xia Yuan approached Mr. Wu and pointed to the towering cliff to the east.

"Please look, sir. Lin Mo is right there on that cliff top."

His voice was filled with barely suppressed hatred.

"They've set up many strange catapults; if only you could destroy them all..."

As Xia Yuan spoke, he was about to hand over the telescope in his hand for the other party to examine.

Mr. Wu waved his hand, completely ignoring the telescope that was handed to him.

The next moment, Xia Yuan witnessed a terrifying scene that he would never forget.

Mr. Wu's pale eyes suddenly rolled inward, leaving only a horrifying white iris in his eye sockets.

Then, his eyeballs rolled back in a bizarre manner.

This time, however, the pale pupils disappeared, replaced by a pair of golden vertical pupils!

Cold, violent, and filled with an inhuman quality.

It looks like the eyes of a snake or a lizard.

Under the skin around the eyes, bluish-black blood vessels suddenly bulged out.

Like twisted centipedes, they coiled around Mr. Wu's face.

Xia Yuan was so frightened by the sight that he took two steps back, not daring to breathe.

"Is that the young man in the blue robe, and those rotten logs and lumps of iron?"

Mr. Wu's voice was completely flat.

"Yes, it is them!" Xia Yuan quickly bowed.

"That cliff is too high, and all of our equipment has been destroyed. It's really..."

"Simple, simple."

Mr. Wu nodded, interrupting him.

He pulled a palm-sized box from his wide sleeves.

The box was actually made from the skull of a child, its surface covered with blood-red runes, emanating an ominous aura.

"Your Highness, please stand further back."

"Yes, yes."

Xia Yuan quickly took a few steps back and stood behind Mr. Wu.

Mr. Wu slowly opened the bone box.

A wisp of black "smoke" drifted out of the box.

However, when Xia Yuan looked closely, his scalp tingled with fear.

That's not smoke at all!

Those were countless tiny black insects, smaller than dust particles!

Countless, thousands upon thousands, gathered into a black torrent, flew out of the box, emitted a high-frequency buzzing sound, and quickly rose into the air!

The "black cloud" composed of countless tiny insects circled once in the air.

Then, like a giant vulture, it swooped down on the mangled corpses in the camp.

A soldier who had miraculously survived was clutching his blown-off leg and wailing.

He suddenly saw that a comrade next to him, whose head had been blown off by an explosion, had several small black insects crawling into his nostrils.

The soldier paused for a moment.

The next second, the neck of the corpse, which should have been dead, suddenly snapped and twisted to an unbelievable angle.

Then, it used its only remaining arm to support itself and stood up straight and stiffly!

"Ah...ah ah..."

The soldier's wails turned into terrified gasps, his eyes nearly bulging out of their sockets.

Not just this one.

Tiny black insects swarmed into the nostrils, ears, eyes, and even wounds of all the corpses.

Those corpses missing limbs, with their intestines ruptured,

After being invaded by the black insects, they all stood up one by one from the pool of blood!

Looking at this hellish scene, Xia Yuan felt a chill run from the soles of his feet straight to the top of his head.

Mr. Wu did not close the box, but held it in both hands and murmured to the inside of the box with an almost perverse tenderness.

"My darling...my sweetheart...come out..."

As soon as the words were spoken, a hideous, grotesque insect, entirely pale white, as fat as a maggot, and with a pair of transparent cicada wings on its back, slowly crawled out of the box.

It wiggled its plump body along the edge of the box and slowly climbed up Mr. Wu's pale hand.

Mr. Wu raised his hand, brought the strange worm to his mouth, and stuck out his forked tongue to lick the worm's soft, slimy skin with relish.

"Go, take down all those broken logs and rotten things on the cliff."

"Bite all those people to death."

Mr. Wu continued to mutter to himself in that gentle tone.

The strange insect seemed to understand him, and its cicada wings on its back suddenly vibrated rapidly.

Buzz—buzz buzz buzz—!

A high-frequency, piercing wingbeat suddenly rang out!

Then, something strange happened.

In the distance, the corpses that had been standing upright seemed to receive a command after hearing the sound.

They all turned their stiff necks and pointed their empty eye sockets toward the direction of the Cliff of Broken Souls!

"Hoh—ah—!!!"

The next second, all the corpses opened their mouths simultaneously, letting out a shrill, inhuman roar.

With stiff legs, he charged madly toward the direction of Broken Soul Cliff!

They were like a pack of mad dogs unleashed from their gates, fearless and incredibly fast!

Those corpses missing a leg would use their hands to support themselves on the ground, crawling as fast as wild beasts!

Those who only had half their bodies left dragged their bloody entrails on the ground with their two hands and wriggled wildly!

A legion of the dead launched a desperate charge toward the Cliff of Broken Souls!
