One Piece: The user of the Nen-Nen Fruit, who overturned the sea.
Chapter 217 Execution
Five days...
Five days later, an era will officially come to an end.
And another era is about to begin.
"Let's go to the center of Loguetown."
Roy made a decision.
"Captain, are you going to storm the execution ground?" Stella asked with some concern.
"No, I'm just going to witness it."
Roy said calmly,
"Witness the end of One Piece, witness the beginning of a new era."
Over the next few days, the sea was turbulent.
News of Roger's execution had spread throughout the world, and countless people flocked to Loguetown.
I want to witness this historic moment with my own eyes.
Pirates, journalists, merchants, adventurers...
All sorts of people gather in this "town of beginnings and endings," making the originally peaceful town unusually lively.
Beneath this bustling surface, however, turbulent undercurrents are brewing.
The Navy deployed a large force in Loguetown—all three admiral candidates were present.
Dozens of lieutenant generals and tens of thousands of elite naval soldiers.
The entire town of Rogue was completely surrounded; all routes—by air, sea, and land—were blocked.
The World Government also dispatched CP0 agents, who were hidden among the crowd, to monitor all suspicious individuals.
This was an unprecedentedly grand execution, and also a meticulously planned defensive battle.
The atmosphere in the town was very eerie.
The streets were packed with people, but everyone maintained an eerie silence, as if waiting for something.
The air was thick with tension, anticipation, excitement, fear... a mix of emotions.
Roy and the others found a hotel near the square and rented a room on the third floor.
The execution platform can be seen directly from the window.
The execution platform has been erected—a ten-meter-high wooden platform with a pillar standing on top.
Simple, yet solemn.
"tomorrow……"
Barrett stood by the window, gazing at the execution platform in the distance, his voice low and menacing.
"What? You want to save him!?" Hawkeye suddenly asked.
Barrett paused for a few seconds, then shook his head. "No."
"I just felt that a man like that shouldn't have died at my hands."
He deserved a more... dramatic end.
Roy didn't speak, but just stared quietly at the execution platform.
He knew that the most shocking scene of this era would unfold there tomorrow.
On the morning of the fifth day, the sun rose.
The square in Rogge Town was packed with people, a dense, dark mass with hardly any gaps.
Navy soldiers maintained order and kept the crowd at a safe distance.
Around the execution platform stood three candidates for generals—Akainu, Kizaru, and Aokiji.
They were expressionless, but their eyes were sharp as eagles, scanning everyone below.
Further away, Garp and Sengoku stood on the roof of a building, silently watching all of this.
"Time is almost up..." Sengoku said in a low voice.
Garp clenched his fists and remained silent.
It was exactly 10:00 AM.
A group of naval soldiers escorted a man to the execution platform.
When that person appeared in everyone's sight, the entire square instantly fell silent.
Gol D. Roger.
Once upon a time, the Pirate King.
He was wearing simple prison clothes, and his hands and feet were shackled with sea stone.
But his back remained straight, and he wore his signature smile.
It was as if he hadn't come to die, but to attend a grand event.
Two executioners walked onto the platform, each holding a sharp spear.
Everything is ready.
The execution was presided over by Navy Admiral Kong, who stood before the execution platform and announced in a booming voice:
"Gol D. Roger, former captain of the Roger Pirates, was accused of multiple serious crimes, including piracy, rebellion, and fighting against the World Government."
After trial by the World Government's Supreme Court, the charges were upheld, and the death sentence was handed down, to be carried out immediately!
His voice was amplified by the Den Den Mushi, spreading throughout the entire square and even reaching every corner of Loguetown.
Various sounds came from the crowd below—cheers, curses, sighs, and cries.
But Roger just smiled and looked down at the crowd.
His gaze swept across the area, finally settling on a certain direction.
Roy felt that gaze.
Their eyes met in mid-air.
Roger nodded slightly to him, as if to say: Watch closely, this is my choice.
Roy nodded in response.
After announcing his completion, Steelbone Kong stepped back, signaling to the executioner that he could begin.
Two executioners raised their spears and aimed them at Roger's heart.
At that moment, time seemed to stand still.
Everyone held their breath, waiting for that final moment.
Just then, someone in the crowd suddenly shouted:
"Roger! Where have you hidden all your treasure?!"
This question is like a pebble thrown into a calm lake, creating ripples all around.
That's right! The treasure of the Pirate King! The legendary One Piece!
More people started shouting:
"Say it, Roger!"
"Where is your treasure?!"
Tell us!
The executioner stopped and looked at Steelbone Sky.
Steelbone frowned, about to order the execution to continue, but Roger suddenly laughed.
His laughter grew louder and louder, eventually turning into maniacal laughter.
"Hahaha—!!! My treasure?!"
Roger looked up at the sky, then down at the crowd below.
His eyes were filled with a kind of indescribable light.
"Want my treasure?!"
His voice was amplified and carried throughout the entire square via a Den Den Mushi (sound-transmitting electric scooter).
"Go find it if you want it!!"
"I've left all my treasure there—!!!"
At the end of the Grand Line—!!! Laugh Tale—!!!
As soon as he finished speaking, the entire square fell into a deathly silence.
The next second, a deafening cheer erupted!
"One Piece——!!!"
"Laugh Tale—!!!"
"The Pirate King's Treasure—!!!"
People went crazy, got excited, and were in a frenzy!
Roger smiled with satisfaction after saying those words.
He looked at the executioner and nodded, as if to say: That's enough.
The two executioners exchanged a glance and simultaneously thrust out their spears.
Pfft—!
The spear pierced Roger's heart.
Blood gushed out, staining his prison uniform red.
But his smile remained on his face, and his eyes were still bright.
Gol D. Roger, the Pirate King, has come to an end.
And so a new era began.
Roy stood by the hotel window, watching the figure on the execution platform gradually lose its life, and slowly closed his eyes.
Goodbye, Roger.
He said in a low voice.
Then he turned around and said to his companions behind him:
"Let's go, it's time to go back."
"A new era has arrived; it's time for us to seize our rightful place."
The group left the hotel quietly, mingling with the excited crowd, and headed towards the docking place of the Ark Proverb.
Behind them, in the square of Rogge, cheers swept through the entire town like a tsunami.
Countless people flocked to the port, eager to set sail immediately in search of the legendary One Piece.
The Great Pirate Era has officially begun.
The Roy Pirates will ride the waves and forge ahead in this new era.
Their goal isn't One Piece, but... the whole world.
