Chapter 44 Mephisto, Lord of Hell
After speaking with the professor, Lynn Hall began to ponder as he looked at the detailed information about the town's residents.
It is now certain that what happened in this town was a supernatural event, and that the pattern symbolized an evil sacrificial ritual.
They sacrifice themselves or more souls to the devil in order to gain great power.
As for who the sacrifice was, and what would happen to those who lost their souls after the sacrifice, the professor didn't know.
He knew about the pattern because of a legend he heard during his travels in Eastern Europe when he was young.
Leaning back in his chair, Lynn Hall pinched the bridge of his nose, recalling the strange stone man in the town during the day.
Could that stone man be the one who orchestrated the sacrificial ritual and sacrificed the souls of over 1,300 people to the devil in order to gain supernatural power?
If that's really the case, then why does the thick fog always shroud the town?
The townspeople who have lost their souls are trapped inside the town and cannot get out, and the thick fog in the town turns into a barrier at night.
It can't be that the demons in hell are worried that those "walking dead" will harm other civilians.
It was impossible no matter how you looked at it, since even he, an FBI agent, didn't care about the lives of these Americans.
Not to mention the so-called demons in hell!
However, isn't the Ancient One's duty to protect the safety of the real world?
Lynn didn't believe that such a major event involving the deaths of over 1,300 people could be kept secret from the Ancient One.
But until now, neither the Ancient One nor those sorcerers have shown themselves.
Thinking of this, Lynn frowned as he looked at the thick fog that had once again condensed into a barrier after dark.
"Boss, have a cup of coffee."
Alice walked over with a cup of coffee and handed it to Lynn: "I've finished writing the investigation report on this incident."
"As you requested, the blame has been shifted entirely to the Russians; they are the ones who secretly created the terrifying biological virus in this town."
At this point, Alice laughed and said, "Boss, as long as the bear is still around, it will be much easier for us to explain the investigation results we release."
"So now I actually hope that Russia's situation becomes more stable!"
Hearing Alice say this, Lynn chuckled and said, "It's best not to let the Department of Justice know about this, otherwise they'll label you as spies, and I won't be able to help you."
"Am I stupid?"
At this point, Alice leaned close to Lynn and whispered, "I heard from the training department that after these few days of training, Barbara, although not familiar with the department's operations..."
"But I should be able to help you with some documents, so boss, are you going to eat her or not?"
Seeing Alice's gossipy eyes, Lynn Hall pushed her head and made her roll to the side.
"Tch, boring. It's just that little thing. I can tell from the way she looks at you..."
I was holding my coffee cup, listening to Alice make a sound halfway through her sentence.
Lynn looked up and suddenly realized that time and space around him seemed to have been frozen.
Alice stood motionless with her mouth agape, and the campfire beside her, which had been swaying in the wind, also froze for a moment.
Even flying insects were frozen in mid-air.
The sudden turn of events instantly put Lynn Hall on alert, and he drew his gun.
Then he saw a man with a cane, whose age was impossible to discern, looking at him with a smile.
The reason why it was impossible to tell his exact age was because Lynn felt that people would believe him if he said he was twenty or eighty.
The moment Lynn Hall saw the mysterious man, he pointed his gun at him.
But before he could pull the trigger, the pistol suddenly turned into a colorful bubble and flew into the night sky.
"Don't be impulsive, I mean no harm!"
Seeing Lynn's wary look, the man walked over with a smile: "For me, this is just a very interesting challenge."
"Originally, I didn't intend to let anyone interfere with this challenge, but after seeing you, I changed my mind."
Watching this man walk towards him step by step, yet the space and time around him seemed to shrink rapidly beneath his feet.
Lynn Hall dared not be careless in the slightest.
"Compared to the challenger, your soul is the strangest and most interesting I've ever seen!"
Mephisto's favorability rating: 1
Lynn Hall's pupils contracted slightly upon seeing the system's sudden notification.
The mysterious person before us is actually Mephisto, the lord of hell?
Before Lynn Hall could speak, a burst of green magic appeared around them.
As green magic formed a circular portal, a man wearing a green cloak and an iron mask stepped out!
"Mephisto!"
"It's been three years since we last met, Doom. I wonder how strong you are this time? I'm really looking forward to the challenge!"
Hearing Mephisto's tone, Victor Doom's eyes flashed with anger.
He certainly understood that his triennial challenge was, in Mephisto's eyes, no different from an animal show in a circus for people's amusement.
This was undoubtedly a tremendous humiliation for Viktor Doom!
Even so, Victor Doom never considered giving up.
Because this is the only way to save his mother's soul from hell!
"Don't rush into the challenge yet, I've discovered something even more interesting!"
Mephisto looked at Victor Doom, whose eyes seemed to be spitting fire, with a smile and then looked at Lynn Hall.
"Let me introduce myself. I am Mephisto, the legendary lord of hell."
"Lynn Hall, your soul is the strangest I've ever seen in any human being, so how about we make a deal?"
Looking at Lynn, his eyes were full of temptation: "If you are willing to cooperate with me, you can get everything you want."
"For example, immense power, more money than one could ever spend in a lifetime, a status to be worshipped, the most beautiful woman in the world..."
"Of course, in return, all you have to do is offer your soul to me after you die. How about it? Trading something for what happens after death to gain an unparalleled life in this world, isn't that worth it?"
Hearing Mephisto's seductive voice, Lynn Hall suddenly said, "Like that skull in California that's all on fire?"
"You actually know Johnny?"
Mephisto's interest in Lynn deepened as he looked at her.
"You too can possess strength as great as his. How about it? Are you willing to make this deal with me?"
As soon as he finished speaking, Mephisto produced an ancient scroll in his hand: "Come, child, just sign your name, and everything you desire will be within your grasp!"
