Chapter 324 Trouble is Coming

In Room 02, a lit candle sat on the floor as a light source, along with sheets of drawing paper. 02 stared blankly at the drawings, the flame reflected in her pupils.

Jing Chen stared at Ling Er for a while, then suddenly asked, "Ling Er, what's that on your head?"

Zero Two touched the headband on her head and said, "Ah, this was made in the future."

"Huh?" Jing Chen looked on with some curiosity.

Ling Er turned her head to the side, saying shyly, "Don't stare."

This was probably the first time Jing Chen had ever seen Ling Er act cute like this, and he couldn't help but smile. "It suits you very well."

Ling Er paused for a moment, then turned to look at Jing Chen and smiled slightly, "It's okay if you keep staring."

Seeing Jing Chen grinning foolishly, Ling Er reached out and lifted Jing Chen's bangs, revealing a small, horn-like bump on his forehead. Ling Er said, "It's gotten even bigger than before."

"Is this really a horn?" Jing Chen asked.

"Was it because of my partnership? Or was it when you used to lick my blood..." At this point, Zero Two recalled that scene from her childhood, and then changed the subject, saying, "I twisted Darling's fate."

Jing Chen didn't speak, but simply touched Ling Er's horn with the still-developing horn growing from his forehead. Ling Er understood Jing Chen's meaning, smiled slightly, and softly called out, "Darling."

Their eyes met, neither uttering a word. Their gazes were fixed on each other. They slowly closed their eyes, their lips met, and after a brief moment of tenderness, they parted, their corners pressed together. Silence spoke louder than words; perhaps this was the meaning of that saying.

"I'm so happy because I've become just like you," Jing Chen said.

Zero Two simply hummed softly, her expression revealing nothing. The candlelight on the ground tilted slightly, accompanied by Zero Two's voice: "Hey Darling, that picture book is inside my body." As she spoke, Zero Two picked up a piece of drawing paper. The illustration beneath it was of the picture book's heroine, the witch. "I ate it. When my memories were about to be erased, because I didn't want to forget, I wanted to become human because I wanted to see you. Back then, someone told me that killing a Klaxosaur would make me human. Even though that's impossible." Zero Two said, casually tossing the crumpled piece of paper aside.

Jing Chen asked, "Did the 'dads' say that?"

Zero Two simply smiled and looked at the words spread on the ground, without answering Jing Chen's question. Seeing Zero Two's expression, Jing Chen knew the answer. While he was still wondering whether to eliminate them now or let them run wild a little longer, Zero Two suddenly said, "Let me see that?"

Jing Chen snapped out of her daze, somewhat confused. She didn't understand what Ling Er was talking about. Ling Er pointed to the painting behind Jing Chen and said, "That one, Darling drew it, right?"

Jing Chen followed Ling Er's finger and looked at the place where a painting was covered with a white sheet of paper.

Jing Chen became very nervous and hurriedly reached out to cover the drawing paper, trying to explain something, but due to nervousness, he couldn't form any words. Ling Er didn't back down at all, pleading with Jing Chen to let her see it. But Jing Chen's tone was firm; he absolutely wouldn't let her see it. Ling Er stared at Jing Chen expressionlessly, then in a flash, her eyes turned sinister, and she raised her hands, lunging at Jing Chen. Jing Chen reacted, but was ultimately a step too slow, and was tackled to the ground by Ling Er. In the end, Ling Er unsurprisingly snatched the drawing paper.

When Ling Er opened it up, she was stunned. Jing Chen had drawn a prince, and both the details and the style were exactly the same as the original illustration in the picture book! If Ling Er hadn't already eaten the picture book, she probably would have thought that Jing Chen's drawing was torn from the picture book.

"Darling draws so well, why is he hiding it?" Zero Two asked.

Jing Chen chuckled softly and said, "No way, it's not as good as yours."

"Then let's use this one," Zero Two said.

"Huh? Really?" Jing Chen was a little surprised.

Ling Er hugged the painting to her chest and said, "Because I like this painting."

Speaking of painting, Jingchen initially refused, but his parents' coercion and enticement forced him to learn. Back then, Jingchen couldn't understand why he was learning it, wondering how practical it was. Only now has he begun to realize: learning to paint can help him attract girls!

In the hallway, a girl with 9's brown hair was strolling around, looking around seemingly at something. Xin smiled and said, "I understand. Goodnight." After saying goodnight to the girl, Xin went back to her room. The girl with brown hair also saw the book on the floor; it was Xin's book.

9' Everyone was in the office looking at this book. Alpha flipped through it, saying, "Reproduction, childbirth, fetus..." When Alpha saw this part, he suddenly closed the book and said, "These are all things that Daddy never taught me."

In the pitch-black room, Xin sat on the bed playing with the doll in her arms. Since the lights were off, she could only rely on the moonlight streaming in from the window. After reading that book, Xin was already looking forward to the baby.

The next day, Jingchen sat in the greenhouse, and Xin combed her hair, saying, "The arrival of '9' means someone will be coming to pick us up soon, right? Does that mean this kind of life is coming to an end?"

Jing Chen pondered for a moment and said, "I have a feeling that their purpose in coming here this time can't be that simple!"

Jing Chen said, "They didn't come here to check on our situation; they have ulterior motives. From our previous conversations, I could tell that their purpose was mostly because of Zero-Two. Perhaps what 'Dad' and the others are about to do requires Zero-Two's presence. But given that he can't possibly send our entire 13th Squad on an attack, he sent '9' to try and take Zero-Two away."

"Is...that so?" He felt a little doubtful.

Jing Chen glanced casually into Xin's pocket, not seeing the familiar book, and asked, "Xin, where's that book?"

"A book?" Xin touched her pocket, thought carefully for a moment, and said, "Maybe I accidentally dropped it somewhere last night?"

Xin thought about it carefully for a moment and said, "Last night..." Xin told Jing Chen everything that had happened last night. The more Jing Chen listened, the more his brows furrowed. By the end, Jing Chen knew that things were going badly!
