Hogwarts: Nagini captured at the start
Chapter 70 The Beginning of the New Semester
Chapter 70 The Beginning of the New Semester
Hermione's eyes darted around, as if she were recalling something. Finally, she suddenly stood up excitedly and said, "Oh, I remember now! You all wait here."
She rushed into the girls' dormitory in a flurry of activity. Before the three people on the sofa could even exchange puzzled glances, she rushed back, carrying a thick, huge old book.
"Why didn't I think of looking in this book? I borrowed it a few weeks ago, intending to read it to pass the time."
"You use it to pass the time?" Ron asked in shock.
"Quiet, don't disturb me!"
Hermione didn't have time to catch her breath. She lowered her head and quickly flipped through the pages. When she was two-thirds of the way through, she slammed her hand on the table and exclaimed excitedly, "Found it! It's on this page!"
"Ha! Now I can speak, right?"
Ron said resentfully.
Hermione ignored him, pulling Robin over to watch with her, and then, in a low, theatrical voice, declared, "Nico Flamel is the only known maker of the Philosopher's Stone!"
Unfortunately, no one appreciated her stage performances.
Harry and Ron crept up behind the two of them, bent down and peered into the open pages of the book, searching for information related to the Philosopher's Stone.
Luo Bin pointed to two lines of small print, indicating that they should look here.
[
The Philosopher's Stone is a magical substance with amazing functions, created by alchemists. It can turn any metal into gold with a very high gold content. Skilled wizards can also use it to concoct elixirs of immortality, making the person who takes the elixir live forever.
For centuries, the magical world has never lacked reports related to the Philosopher's Stone, but according to research, the only Philosopher's Stone currently in existence belongs to the world-renowned alchemist and opera enthusiast, Nicolas Flamel!
It is understood that he, now 666 years old, and his wife Perenall (658 years old) live in seclusion in Devon.
]
Luo Bin: →_→, 666 years old? I can only say "6" in awe!
"Do you understand? Fulwei the Cerberus is guarding the Philosopher's Stone!" Hermione said confidently.
"A stone that can turn into countless gold and allow people to live forever—no wonder Quirinus Quirrell would be interested in it. Who wouldn't be tempted?" Ron said.
"No wonder I couldn't find any trace of Nicolas Flamel even after flipping through 'Studies on the Development of Modern Wizardry.' He's 666 years old, so of course he can't be considered modern," Harry exclaimed in sudden realization.
Just as the four were about to continue their discussion, a sound suddenly came from the entrance of the boys' dormitory.
Neville pushed open the door to the lounge, sniffling and asking in a pitiful tone, "Have you seen Rafer?"
The four of them shook their heads in unison, then cleared the table and quickly left the lounge.
As Robin climbs the spiral staircase, Neville's heartbreaking cries for Ralph can still be heard.
Well, this wretched toad can only bully Na'vi. If it were any other wizard, they would definitely roast it into dried toad or make toad wine.
With the holiday over and the new semester beginning, everyone seemed to still be in a relaxed state from the holiday, resulting in a constant stream of yawns in the classroom.
However, the professors were like they were on steroids, frantically bombarding the students with magical knowledge, except for one professor—Quirinus Quirrell.
After recuperating for more than half a month, Quirrell's mental state was much better than during the days of urinary incontinence. He was no longer in a state of constant panic, which was probably due to the combined effects of the continued bewitching by the braised egg and the waning effects of Murphy Eli's drug.
However, the scroll states that some of the mental damage caused by Murphy Erie is irreversible.
This "irreversibility" manifested in Quirrell as a drastic change in his teaching style. All questions and quizzes in class were canceled, and he lectured with his head down the whole time, stammering out words like "full moon," "infection," "wolf syndrome," "white powder," and "silver powder" from the textbook.
Seamus Finnigan once "kindly" patted Quirrell on the back, causing Quirrell to suddenly straighten his chest and lift his head. His startled, neurotic expression amused the students below the stage.
As Quirrell stared at the dozens of bloody mouths and gleaming white teeth, fear once again overwhelmed his reason. After a dozen seconds of stunned silence, his legs went weak and he collapsed to the ground, curling up in agony and crying out, "No...don't eat me, please, please!"
Ultimately, the classroom farce ended with Quirrell being carried to the school clinic on the first floor by Seamus and Dean.
After Harry and Ron figured out who Nicolas Flamel was and that Fluffy was guarding the Philosopher's Stone, they stopped spending time in the library. Robin and Hermione, however, continued the habit, but for different reasons.
One wanted to learn more about magic, and the other wanted to shed the label of "illiterate."
Unfortunately, despite searching for a long time, Luo Bin still couldn't find a book that could help translate the text on the thick, dark red book. He could finally understand the feeling of the three little ones when they had been busy for a month but had no results.
This isn't the only thing that messes with people's mentality; there's also Quidditch training. Oliver Wood, the king of involution, insists that everyone train at the Quidditch pitch, even on days with continuous rain after a blizzard. And every time, he only announces the end of training when it's completely dark and everyone is exhausted and panting.
The high-intensity training inevitably drew complaints from the players, such as Fred and George. Their way of retaliating against Wood was to cause trouble in the air, play dive bombing games, and pretend to fall off the broom.
Quidditch pitch on a sunny afternoon after the rain.
boom!
Bang!
Fred swooped down and bombarded the lawn, his boots scraping the grass, instantly splashing Oliver Wood with mud and water mixed with grass blades.
"Oh ho, well done!"
George and Fred high-fived in mid-air and burst into laughter.
Wood wiped the mud off his face and shouted into the air, "Stop messing around! You two will make the team lose to Hufflepuff if you do this. I got confirmation from Professor McGonagall that Professor Snape will be the referee for the Quidditch match in two weeks. Based on past cases, Snape will definitely find a thousand reasons to call fouls on Hufflepuff during the match."
Awarding the opposing team a free throw is practically the same as giving away 10 points!
Upon hearing this, Fred was so startled that he fell off his flying broom with a thud, turning into a muddy figure covered in grass and leaves, spitting out a clump of mud from his mouth.
However, none of the people present smiled at this amusing scene, clearly worried about Snape becoming the referee.
"When did Snape become interested in Quidditch? He applied to be a referee, he definitely doesn't want Gryffindor to beat Hufflepuff and steal the House Cup from Slytherin," Fred said after spitting out mud.
"We can't decide who the referee is. We can only guarantee that we strictly abide by the rules when fighting Hufflepuff, so that the referee has no excuse to find fault with us."
Wood's viewpoint was accepted by everyone, but that was all. After all, everyone had witnessed the old bat's tendency to nitpick.
