Chapter 28 Mark 6
"No, I'm not!"
"I will acquire the Stark shares that are being transferred because I believe Stark Industries still has great potential for growth."
"As for why Stark didn't transfer the stock to someone else but to me, you should ask him that, not me."
"Also, I have a question I'd like to ask you now."
Roy looked calmly at Christine and spoke slowly.
"What do you want to ask?"
Christine replied.
"It's simple. I want to know why you suspect I'm Stark's secret bodyguard?"
"If your suspicions are based on the fact that both my secret bodyguard and I have black hair, and that I joined the Stark Industries board of directors, then I think you'd be better off going back to being a reporter for Vanity Fair."
"Your current role is that of a news anchor for Fox 11 in Los Angeles."
"In other words, your every word and action represents the professional ethics of a Fox News anchorwoman."
"If you rashly suspect me of being Stark's secret bodyguard without any substantial evidence, it only proves that you are not suitable for your current job."
Roy picked up the white wine in front of him, took a sip, and said slowly.
Christine fell silent and frowned.
Seeing her frown and remain silent, Roy knew he had guessed correctly.
After a dozen seconds, Christine spoke up, "Whether I'm suitable for this job will be evaluated by my supervisor."
Roy nodded and continued, "That's right. Evaluating whether you're suitable for your current job is indeed your supervisor's responsibility, not mine.
"However, a new female anchor's baseless accusations against Stark Industries' directors without any evidence have significantly impacted their reputation and Stark Industries' market value."
"Although I'm not in the journalism field, if I'm not mistaken, this behavior should be considered defamation."
"Let me ask you another question. If I had Stark Industries' legal department send a lawyer's letter to this new anchorwoman, do you think Fox 11 in Los Angeles, or Fox News Channel in general, would choose to fire her, or spend a lot of manpower and resources fighting a lawsuit with a low probability of success?"
Christine fell silent again, her expression turning grim, and slowly said, "Are you threatening me?"
Threat?
Roy smiled and shook his head, then continued, "Which university did you graduate from? If I'm not mistaken, your university should be one of the Ivy League universities."
Brown University.
Although she didn't know what Roy was up to, Christine still revealed the name of the school she graduated from.
"Brown University has one of the lowest acceptance rates in the US. You must be proud of yourself for getting in on your own merit, right?"
Roy spoke slowly.
"What exactly are you trying to say?"
Christine looked at Roy with a puzzled expression, her brows furrowing even more.
"As a female anchor, you should be more patient when facing interviewees; this is a basic professional quality."
Roy reminded Christine of something.
"Okay, I was too impatient. Tell me slowly."
Christine took a deep breath, suppressing her dissatisfaction.
"When you were at Brown University, you must have met plenty of classmates who were not as good as you academically, but who got accepted because of their family background."
"The fact that you got into Brown University means you're not stupid; you must know why."
"Now, to answer your question, I'm not threatening you. I can simply make you lose your job, or even leave journalism altogether, by following the rules of how society works."
"Alright, I've said everything I needed to say. If you haven't had lunch either, why don't you join me? It's on me."
Christine remained silent, staring at Roy.
She quickly made a decision, picked up the recorder on the table, turned it off, and put it back in her handbag.
He then smiled slightly at Roy and said, "It is my honor to have lunch with Mr. Roy."
"It's an honor to dine with Fox News' future star anchorwoman."
Roy said with a smile.
Hearing his words, Christine's smile became even more charming.
We were full and satisfied.
They left the restaurant together.
Roy had planned to go find Tony after dinner.
But as the saying goes, plans can't keep up with changes.
Before heading to Tony's seaside mansion, he prepared to give Christine an in-depth interview to deepen their understanding and trust.
Two hours later.
Roy used the Flying Thunder God technique to arrive at Tony's garage/studio.
Before he arrived, he sent Tony a text message to avoid Tony complaining that he suddenly appeared like a ghost.
"Did you just take a shower?"
Tony glanced at Roy and asked.
"Yes."
Roy nodded.
It was somewhat impolite of him to come to see Tony covered in sweat.
In addition, taking a hot shower after intense exercise can help relax the body and mind.
Something's not right!
Tony continued.
"Something's not right?"
Roy asked.
"You're not the kind of person who would take a special shower just to see me."
What were you doing before you came here?
Tony asked quickly.
"It's nothing, I just did some exercise."
Roy said calmly.
Although they were already acquaintances, he didn't intend to tell Tony the truth.
Just as Tony was about to ask something else, he continued, "How's the research on the performance-enhancing drugs and spider serum going?"
Upon hearing his question, Tony replied with pride, "With me personally handling it, there won't be any problems."
"It's not that I look down on the researchers at the Osborn Group, but they really aren't that great."
"Judging solely from the enhancement effects, the physical enhancement potion they developed is quite good."
"But the drug's stability is too poor."
"To put it bluntly, the physical enhancement drug they developed has not reached the required stage at all; it's just a half-finished product."
"I not only eliminated the potential side effects of using the drug, but I also enhanced the enhancement effect to some extent."
"According to Jarvis's analysis, the enhancement effect has been increased by about 50%."
After listening to Tony's explanation, Roy nodded in satisfaction and continued, "What about the spider serum?"
amount……
Tony's expression changed instantly.
"Don't tell me that even you can't figure it out."
Roy frowned.
"Who says I can't figure it out!"
"I just haven't started researching it yet."
Tony replied.
It hasn't started yet?
Roy sighed helplessly.
"Although I haven't started researching spider serum yet, I can guarantee that I will be able to produce it within three months at most."
Tony said quickly.
"Three months?"
"What are you busy with right now?"
Roy asked.
"Mark 6!"
"Following your previous suggestions, I've successfully developed the Mark 6!"
Tony looked at Roy with a proud expression.
