Pirates: Martial Arts Masters on the Straw Hat Ship

Chapter 29 Luffy's Devotion to Musicians

"Wind direction: Southeast, wind speed: Level 3... Adjust angle..."

Usopp muttered to himself, his hands spinning the adjustment wheel rapidly.

"Watch closely, Luffy! This is Captain Usopp's ultimate move!"

"boom--!!"

With a deafening roar, a plume of orange-red flames and thick smoke erupted from the cannon.

The black, solid cannonballs roared out, tracing a perfect parabola in the air.

Although Ronan was lying still, his Observation Haki subconsciously captured the trajectory of the cannonball.

"So accurate," Ronan thought to himself.

next second.

"BOOM!!"

Thousands of meters away, the huge black reef was hit precisely by the shell!

The enormous kinetic energy burst forth instantly, sending rocks flying and creating towering columns of water.

That reef was actually blasted in half by this shot and collapsed into the sea!

"Whoaaaaah—!!"

Luffy jumped up excitedly, raising his hands above his head and shouting, "Amazing!! It hit on the first try! Usopp, you're amazing!"

As the smoke cleared, Usopp blew away the non-existent smoke from a gun barrel and smugly wiped his nose:

"Hmph, of course! I'm really good at aiming! Aren't you impressed?"

"Yes, yes, yes!" Luffy nodded frantically, his eyes resolute as he declared, "It's decided! You'll be our pirate crew's sniper!"

"What?!" Usopp was secretly overjoyed, but he still retorted arrogantly, "Aren't I the captain? How did I become a sniper?!"

"Hehehe!"

"Alright, I'll reluctantly take on the role of sniper for now."

Usopp chuckled, "However, if your performance as captain is too poor, we'll replace you immediately!"

……

The cabin of the Merry.

Sunlight streamed through the round portholes onto the long wooden table.

Ronan and his friends sat together, the air filled with a faint aroma of tea.

This was the Straw Hat Pirates' first formal "tactical meeting".

Luffy sat in the main seat, unusually serious, resting his chin on his hands and saying with a solemn expression:

"Before we enter the Grand Line, I think we need to fill an important position!"

Ronan held his teacup, his eyes flickering slightly.

He glanced at the fully equipped kitchen and thought to himself, "It seems that the arrival of that curly-browed chef—Sanji—is not far off."

After all, everyone has been eating Nami's "high-priced luxury meals" for the past few days, and they really need to improve their diet.

Nami nodded in agreement, glancing around at the spacious and bright kitchen:

"That's true. The Going Merry's kitchen is so beautiful and well-equipped; it would be a shame to leave it empty."

"If I were paid... I'd be willing to reluctantly do the cooking, but I'm only responsible for cooking, not for making it taste good."

Zoro crossed his arms and said in a deep voice, "This is an essential and important role for long journeys."

"Without sufficient nutrition and delicious food, it is impossible to sustain high-intensity combat and voyages."

Everyone is hinting at "chef".

Seeing how well his crew understood him, Luffy excitedly slammed his hand on the table, stood up, and loudly announced:

"Right! That's what you all think too! As expected, what a pirate ship needs most is—"

Everyone held their breath, ready to receive the word "chef".

Luffy took a deep breath, his eyes shining with the light of his dreams:

"--musician!!!"

"..."

"..."

The air suddenly became quiet.

Even the cries of the seagulls outside the window sounded particularly awkward.

Ronan nearly dropped his teacup. Even as a transmigrator, he was still shocked by Luffy's bizarre thought process.

This is probably... an extreme obsession with romance?

After a brief silence, a roar suddenly erupted in the cabin.

"Are you an idiot?!"

Veins bulged on Zoro's forehead as he roared at Luffy, "We were talking about food! Food! Can music fill your stomach?!"

Nami slammed her hand on the table in anger, shouting, "What do you take navigation for?!"

Even Usopp couldn't help but complain, looking at him with exasperation: "I thought you'd say something serious for once!"

Despite being surrounded and attacked by the crowd, Luffy showed no remorse whatsoever.

He picked his nose and muttered confidently:

"But...pirates all sing! Without musicians, adventures are so boring!"

Ronan watched this scene, his lips twitching involuntarily, thinking to himself:

"Although this scene does appear in the story, seeing it in person still makes me think... Luffy is really unreliable."

Just as Luffy was about to argue his case for the position of "musician"—

"Bang!!"

A loud crash suddenly came from outside the cabin, as if something heavy had slammed onto the deck.

Immediately afterwards, a rough yet somewhat weak voice came from outside:

"Hey!!! Come out here, you pirates!!"

The sudden commotion instantly interrupted the argument.

The atmosphere inside the cabin froze instantly.

Ronan's eyes sharpened instantly, and his rudimentary Observation Haki spread out like ripples on water, penetrating the wooden planks of the cabin.

He sensed a life force on the deck.

But this aura... isn't strong.

"There's only one person," Ronan said calmly, setting down his teacup. "His aura isn't strong; he's not a threat."

Meanwhile, Zoro also closed his eyes. Although his newly acquired Observation Haki was not as proficient as Ronan's, it was enough for him to catch that familiar aura.

Zoro suddenly opened his eyes, a look of surprise and nostalgia on his face:

"This aura... is it Johnny?"

"Johnny?" Luffy asked, puzzled. "Who's that? Your friend?"

Zoro stood up, hung the Wado Ichimonji on his waist, and a smile appeared on his lips:

"Ah, sort of. We used to hang out together... two bounty hunter underlings who specialized in catching petty thieves."

"Let's go out and take a look."

The group pushed open the cabin door, and blinding sunlight streamed in.

Immediately afterwards, a man wearing sunglasses and with the character "海" (sea) tattooed on his cheek stood on the deck.

He was soaking wet, looked angry, and appeared utterly disheveled.

"To think... I've run into you here, Johnny!" Zoro's lips curled up slightly, revealing a nostalgic smile as he met an old friend.

"Zoro... Brother Zoro!!"

Johnny's voice cracked with excitement as he stumbled towards Zoro:

"B-Big brother! What are you doing on this pirate ship?!"

Zoro raised an eyebrow, not explaining his change in status, but keenly sensing Johnny's unusually anxious expression:

"Never mind me, why are you all alone? Where's Joseph? You two are always inseparable, aren't you?"

Upon hearing this name, Johnny's face instantly fell, his initial excitement turning into deep despair.
