Chapter 374 Descriptors and Ring Ranks

Rorschach dislikes Gao Po, or at least he dislikes the current head of the factory.

When he first tried to explore his own work, his spirit moved Rorschach, who not only gave him the blueprints for the computing core but also hired a professor to tutor him at great expense. Rorschach hoped that he could advance from a craftsman to an engineer who understood the fundamental principles.

The machine was up and running, and Rorschach wanted to test the newly added features. He uploaded the new spell, [Spirit Armor], but the analysis speed didn't increase much.

"Analyzing the sound. Are you sighing?"

"Your performance hasn't improved significantly. Like the previous [Electric Claw], it's a first-level spell, and the analysis speed hasn't increased."

The tower spirit's voice remained unwavering: "During the analysis, Master, I believe your testing was not rigorous enough. The speed of uploading and parsing spells needs to take into account the limits of the connection between the storage unit and the computing unit, and even spells within the same ring consume different resources. For example, compared to the [Electric Claw] which only converts electrical energy, I also need to access the concept of 'armor' to understand the entire model of [Spirit Armor] and break it down into 'terms'."

But what Tarling said next shocked him: "And I think your line of thinking is flawed."

"Huh?" He jumped up. This is outrageous! This is outrageous! The tower spirit has offended its master!

He waited for what was to come, whether to reward it or dismantle and format it. The Tower Spirit could not sense Luo Xia's thoughts, and simply stated: "Does the number of hardware devices connected to my body have a direct relationship with my performance? With the weak performance of the core, it is simply impossible to simulate the humanoid thinking of the Tower Spirit."

"It's just that I used the [Enlightenment Technique] to transform a main core into a soul container. Adding a computing machine next is just adding usable tools to share simple tasks. It won't cause their nature to change."

Ultimately, even the most sophisticated machines cannot compare to billions of transistors. Rorschach had already realized this, so the spirit's soul inherited his conclusion: "Continuing to add machinery will only make the performance improvement smaller and smaller. Rorschach agreed with the Tower Spirit's suggestion, but he began to have doubts: "You're right, but how do I upgrade you next?"

"..." The tower spirit remained silent for a moment before continuing to activate the wave function analyzer and the sound-generating element: "I'm sorry, I can only offer suggestions based on the memories inherited from your soul. The above is all your existing knowledge. Further innovation is your privilege."

Rorschach was slightly relieved. Following the tower spirit's reminder, he continued to think and realized that the "spell cloud" also had problems. The current "polarized crystal system" storage device was definitely an improvement over paper tape, but why store spells this way? By constructing a system that intertwines the two, new chanting and casting methods are obtained. The "Major Accident Reversal" spell that Rorschach developed earlier was a spell string composed of multiple spells. As the first spell uploaded, Rorschach could simply edit its code. However, if more spells were added in the future, this unsystematic approach would cause various conflicts and consume storage resources.

With the addition of "descriptors," the Tower Spirits can now invoke basic "terms" to provide spellcasters with more effects, and the spellcasters have greater freedom. Of course, Rorschach won't easily reveal the rules governing these "descriptors." If a mage using "Spell Cloud" to assist in casting has a sufficiently high level of understanding and mastery of this system, they will naturally learn how to combine "descriptors."

"The Tower Spirit's response and processing capabilities are limited. As the number of users increases in the future, we need to rationally allocate the Tower Spirit's processing capabilities and priorities." Therefore, Rorschach added a series of special "level descriptors" to the "descriptors". The higher the level descriptor corresponding to the magic that occupies the Tower Spirit's processing capabilities, the more likely the Tower Spirit will respond if the correct level descriptor is added in the correct position during the chanting.

The corresponding ranks are readily available. According to the Royal Magic Academy's education, the ring ranking system that has been passed down to this day was created by the earliest "Arcane Senate" to facilitate better communication and education, as well as to make it easier to evaluate the contributions of mages to research.
