Chapter 431 Ending the Civil War

"Tuntun" is dead. The elder trembled from the bottom of his heart. The mage he followed in his youth was powerful, but he would still give way when he encountered such a mythical beast. But this young man had destroyed it with a single blow.

At the bottom of the current plane, a thick mass of recombining air has stirred up a storm. Perhaps the atmosphere at the bottom is dense enough, or perhaps the essence of the Kronos Sky Beast does indeed contain the shadow of elemental creatures, its remains did not immediately continue to sink, but instead slowly floated and dispersed.

Several dragon roars echoed from below, and wings could be faintly seen circling among the wreckage. The dragons of the Prime Material Plane had been reduced to legendary endangered species, yet here one could still see some traces of their existence, appearing first after the giant beast's death, seemingly preparing to feast.

The small pterosaurs that had been fleeing in all directions possessed astonishing intelligence; at least they immediately understood what was happening below. The jet stream had frightened these little guys, but now they were squawking and flying back to an atmosphere with a concentration suitable for them, and they were drooling over the "endless" flesh and blood of the giant beast.

These cunning, grotesque creatures did not sprint with the same ferocity they had when fleeing for their lives. Instead, they descended cautiously and slowly, circling the human spellcaster before finally prostrating themselves at Rorschach's feet.

"It's been a long time since I've stretched my muscles, this feels great!" Since arriving in Byrne, Rorschach has been busy with various matters. Before, he was acting as an avatar, and the power and ring level of his spells were limited. Now that he has arrived in the vast air elemental plane, he can finally "go all out" in a pure way.

Caroline stabilized the "sewage outlet" again: "The danger is temporarily over. But with such a loud commotion, could it attract other creatures?"

Luo Xia raised his fist: "I'll take on one of them if they come at me, and if we can't beat them, we'll run away."

Caroline didn't doubt Rorschach's almost joking words. She was first awestruck by the behemoth, then by her former student. Although this wasn't the first time Rorschach had used this spell, Caroline had initially assumed it was aided by an archmage. Now, Rorschach was acting alone, yet its power had only increased.

Archmage. What rank is this young man at now? After the Istani incident, Rorschach no longer fully trusted the Magic Guild. In Byrne, he didn't participate in the guild's tests or registration, nor did he have any intention of updating his rank. Rather, he maintained a vague distance from the guild. Caroline was unaware that Rorschach had seen the emblem within the Magic Guild's badge at the Temple of Thoth, and she herself was unclear about the specific procedures for advancing to Archmage.

Rorschach was unaware of the so much the mage beside him was thinking. In high spirits, he focused on restoring his own magic power while observing the scene of people fighting for the "whale fall" at his feet. He saw creatures resembling dragons emerging from the brownish-yellowish-brown cloud of gas, tearing apart the flesh and limbs left behind by the giant beast.

"If only we could descend and take a look, the biological system of the gaseous elemental plane is more abundant than I imagined. Even Master Humboldt, who refused to come, didn't expect there to be so much life, including natives." As he spoke, Rorschach's attention returned to the little blue man beside him.

These creatures had stopped fighting each other, because the jet of air released after the "black sphere" saturated had hurled large amounts of lower-level matter and the flesh and blood of giant beasts into the sky—the level where Rorschach and the little man were. To them, all condensed matter was a valuable resource; most of their artifacts and clothing came from flying beasts. Besides eating the meat, the bones could be used to make all sorts of gadgets.

The jet of water just now was a "gift from the sky." Although most of it fell to the ground immediately, a considerable amount of lighter material either remained floating or fell slowly, giving the little blue men a chance to collect it. They clung to the massive membrane, and some even found tendons.

The luckiest one was a raft that was struck by half a beast bone. This bone might be the smallest and most minute part inside the giant beast, but it was almost the same size as the raft. If the raft hadn't been considered a "warship" among the tribes, it would likely have fallen apart, and the passengers and the bone would have fallen into the bottomless depths of the plane.

However, wherever Luo Xia's gaze swept, the little people there stopped what they were doing and looked at him uneasily.

"Will this stop the baby from crying at night?" Rorschach was both amused and exasperated, but at least they stopped hitting each other.

The elder then rode over in his flying reclining chair, and said tremblingly, "My lord, your power is unheard of. Please accept our entire clan's offering."

"Stop, stop, stop!" Rorschach couldn't wait for him to finish his platitudes. He calculated that he and Caroline should go back by now, and went straight to the point: "You two aren't going to fight again, are you?" For the tribe, this was a civil war that would go down in history, but in the eyes of the two foreign mages, it was just a fight.

"No, absolutely not." The elder pointed his cane at the current tribespeople: "You killed Tun Tun and brought back the giant beast's legacy. Our tribe has enough resources now; there's no need to fight over it anymore. Am I right?"

His last sentence was spoken with a sudden increase in volume, clearly not directed at Rorschach. As soon as the elder finished speaking, two burly individuals emerged from the two groups of indigenous vehicles. They were the leaders of the two families, and they respectfully promised Rorschach that they would cease fighting.

It would be best if this tribe could stay at the discharge point and serve as maintenance personnel for Rorschach. Of course, with Rorschach in charge and the remains of "Tuntun" replenishing supplies, the internal conflicts within the tribe could be eased today, but there was no guarantee that they wouldn't continue fighting in the future. After deciding to let them serve as maintenance personnel for the "discharge point," Rorschach decided to intervene, telling them that peace was the most important thing and that any conflicts could be negotiated.

The elders used to say the same thing to the two families, but who would listen to the nonsense of an old man who only speaks half-truths when it comes to fighting for real interests? Now it's different. Similar words, spoken by a spellcaster who has dealt a critical hit to a "divine beast," are ironclad rules and truths.

The elder with the most "wisdom" was chosen as Rorschach's henchman and agent. When Rorschach was not in the air elemental plane, his words were to be considered Rorschach's will.

"They're practically treating you like a god," Caroline teased as she watched Rorschach finish his lecture to the elders.

"What good are these little goblin-like 'empty goblins'? They just help us keep the drains clear, so they don't get clogged and let elemental creatures in. Besides, I've repeatedly emphasized that we can't have a personality cult." That's what he said, but he taught the elders how to draw symbols pointing to themselves.

The magical environment of the air elemental plane is similar to that of the prime material plane, so Rorschach thought it would be good to get some faith power. Although he wasn't sure how to use the faith power generated by these "blue elves," it was free anyway, so he might as well take advantage of it.
