Chapter 460 The Tree of Law Overlap

The Tree of Law and the Tower Spirit both grow stronger with the increase of users. For the Tree of Law itself, the more nodes it generates, the higher its level in the symbolic realm.

The Tower Spirits rely on the computing core. There are no real computing machines in the "Boundary." Either the Tower Spirits are connected to real machines that operate in the material world, or as the Tree of Law grows, fictional computing units are formed under its roots according to the "Perfect Blueprint."

In other words, the more luxuriant the Tree of Law, the higher the Tower Spirit's performance—this is natural. However, the increase in the number of "Spell Cloud" users has a limited effect on the Tree of Law's growth, and the increase in Tower Spirit performance is also limited. The relationship between users and performance is both mutually reinforcing and mutually restrictive.

The best way to alleviate the pressure on the "Tower Spirit" is to limit the number of spells a user can cast. Currently, Rorschach has set the standard for the Tower Spirit: zero-ring spells are unlimited, while high-ring spells are limited to the number of uses for each ring based on the mage's level.

The Tree of Law can sense the caster's energy level, which is divided into three stages from beginner to advanced. This is consistent with the magic power level that the "Magic Guild Emblem" can sense, indicating that it is a general rule that the caster's inner magic has three stages.

Referring to the guild system, a mage's three major tiers are further subdivided into three minor tiers to form a complete mage level. Each level up grants more spellcasting opportunities and unlocks higher ring ranks. The process of advancing to minor tiers is similar to the guild system; submitting spells to the spell cloud or making other contributions accumulates points for advancement.

In other words, the opening of permissions depends on two dimensions: personal strength and contribution. The intention is the same as that of the guild. However, compared to the guild's treatment of mages of different levels, which is only a division of treatment and honor, Spell Cloud gives those who are promoted a real improvement.

According to the mysterious custom of Rorschach's previous life, the number of spells cast is counted and refreshed at 4 PM local time in the Byrn Kempson region.

"A third-level mage is allowed to use one fourth-circle spell and three third-circle spells. The number of spells allowed is quite generous." Feuerbach helped Rorschach assess the current system. For ordinary low-level spellcasters, casting spells of the third circle and above is not easy. They usually need complicated incantations or gestures. At this level, spells generally also require casting materials.

The system provided by Rorschach is consistent from low to high level. It only requires the use of internal magic to construct and activate magic frequencies according to rules. In fact, the tower spirit takes over most of the operation of how to trigger environmental magic.

After discussion between the two, the initial rules were set. Since Feuerbach himself was a member of the Arcane Senate, he could provide Rorschach with a lot of reference in evaluating mages' contributions and designing promotion conditions, which was to draw on the system of the magic guild.

For Andre, Hannah, and others who have experienced free casting, the limitation on the number of spell casts is a reverse upgrade, but Rorschach also plans to launch a very useful feature, "Spell Chain".

When the spell cloud was first created, the first spell uploaded, "Major Accident Reversal," was a spell chain composed of multiple spells. However, at that time, it was constructed entirely based on his own casting habits, and there were no clear rules regarding whether the spells should be activated in parallel or sequentially.

The "Spell Chain" feature will now be refined and standardized, allowing users to bundle multiple spells and assign them a timeline—they can be activated in parallel, sequentially according to the timeline, or cyclically within the timeline. The timing of spellcasting is not based on the physical world's time scale, but rather on a timer component within a fictional computing unit.

The current time scale is 128 segments, which Rorschach named "Spell Chimes". Most "words", that is, nodes, require 4-8 spell chimes to activate and trigger environmental magic to produce an effect, while complex descriptors also require more spell chimes.

In short, the description of the spell "Light" emitting blue light only requires one spell tick, but since it uses a transformation spell called "Mapping," which retrieves the image of a "cup" from your mind, it takes about two spell ticks. Constructing a person's face from the caster's memory requires seven spell ticks. To transform into an elemental or astral creature, and assuming the caster already knows the target well enough, the tower spirit still needs to collect relevant information from its mind and retrieve the essence of the target creature from the true primordial layer for matching. Ultimately, the time required could be 10, 20 ticks, or even fail.

Constructing a "spell chain" is also restricted based on the mage's level. Lower-level mages of level three and below can call all their mastered spells and open a dual timeline, meaning a maximum of two spells can run concurrently. However, even if the timeline is not full, the total number of spells called cannot exceed three. A spell chain can only be used once per day.

Intermediate mages are allowed to construct three timelines, and a single spellcasting sequence can call up to five spells, with the highest-level spells not exceeding fourth rank. They have two usage opportunities per day.

As for archmages, those who still rely on spell clouds to cast spells can be buried! Spell strings cannot contain high-level magic. Archmages of normal skill level can naturally achieve the functions provided by the "Tower Spirit" through their spellcasting techniques, so they don't need it.

For each fixed spell string, the tower spirit will generate a new string of frequencies, which is a simplified spell casting system, trying to make the time required to release a spell string and the casting difficulty as close as possible to a single spell.

According to Rorschach's vision, the construction of "spell strings" should also be shared among users. For example, builders can publish their spell strings on "spell cloud" or record them as scrolls so that others can "copy their homework".

If spells can be published and retrieved on "Spell Cloud", would it be better to call it "Creative Workshop" or "Spell String Repository"? No, no, no, if we do that, we'll have to figure out how to develop a visual communication interface for each Spell Cloud user. Wouldn't that just be giving everyone a panel?

Will the tower spirit get the preserved egg spirit to beat me up? After all, adding each new function increases its workload dramatically.

When Rorschach told Feuerbach about the idea of spell chains, the master was conflicted. It was foreseeable that "spell chains" could greatly enhance the versatility and combat power of low-level mages, but at the same time, it was conceivable that with such a convenient aid, they might no longer study advanced spellcasting techniques.

The thirteen magic towers were well aware of the nature of those apprentices and most low-level mages—lazy dogs.

To paraphrase Rorschach's words from his previous life: Just use it, what more do you need?

The master still felt a slight unease. After helping Rorschach build and debug the new system that the Tree of Law was about to change, he raised his doubts: "Master Rorschach, don't you think this new system is very 'un-magical'?"
