A mage? A spell engineer!

Chapter 472 To hell with it

Chapter 472 To hell with it

As Richard approached the convoy, he heard a faint crackling sound. This indicated that the [Radio Communication] technique was constantly being used for communication in the area.

He tried to access the channel, and sure enough, most of the communications were using public frequencies. The sounds woven from magic, radio waves, and sound were just as lively and chaotic as the current situation in the real world.

Despite the overwhelming amount of background noise, a few clear words could still be discerned: "I am a palace guard mage, what do you want!"

"Where is His Highness the Crown Prince?"

"It's dangerous here. Quickly, have His Highness the Crown Prince come with us."

"Bullshit! The danger here isn't you; you're the rebels."

All of the above occurred on the communication channel. From the perspective of the military police and guards, these spellcasters simply closed their eyes, stared blankly, and exchanged barbs with great aloofness.

Suddenly, a voice from an unknown source rang out, silencing the communication channel: "Get the Crown Prince out here right now, or I'll blow up all the vehicles!"

Then, all the other mages on both sides started passionately yelling into their microphones: "Are you an idiot?"

"Have you been hit by the [idiot spell]?"

Not far from Richard, a spellcaster was then hit on the head by his companion; it seemed he was the one who had just attempted the "indiscriminate attack."

Richard planned to take them down one by one, which would make it easier to break through later, especially since there were two exposed mages in front of him. He immediately unleashed two fireballs to roast them. His former comrade, now his enemy, rolled on the ground, while Libs caught up with Richard, pounced on him from behind, and hugged him tightly around the waist.

This girl wasn't large, but she was densely packed. Richard was jolted by the impact and quickly turned around to hug her. It wasn't a matter of picking up girls in a crisis, but rather protecting her in this place where mages were fighting, as much as possible.

However, Libs was not a burden. Her prophetic talent was at its peak at this moment. With a shout of "Three o'clock," sure enough, an Anti-Mage attacked from the right. Richard blocked the attack, and Libs drew his loaded musket and fired a shot.

The two were pressed close together, their coordination was astonishing. Richard was experiencing the exhilaration of fighting for the first time; it was the joy of being on top of the world!

Under the cover of night, amidst the flickering flashes of gunfire and magical light, two young people performed a ballroom dance that had been omitted from the party, moving closely together, their steps intertwined. Though there was no music, this dance of death was breathtaking and beautiful enough.

Finally, guided by the Eye of Omen, the two approached the convoy.

The military police at the last line of defense were on high alert, unable to comprehend the strange behavior of the man and woman, and raised their guns, ready to fire at any moment.

However, Richard and Libs flashed past them. The military policeman stood frozen in shock, wondering if he was seeing things in the night or being hallucinated by some sorcerer.

"So you can use teleportation magic. Why didn't you use it sooner?" The two had already taken a few steps into the carriage, which seemed to be a food storage carriage. In the cramped space, Libs simply lay down in Richard's arms.

"It's not teleportation, it's...transferring through a physical body after becoming ethereal. And it can't last too long." Richard's eyes dimmed slightly. After resting and regaining some strength, the first spell he learned was [Vacuum Form], to commemorate his fallen comrades in the way of a caster.

"All right."

"What's wrong with you?" Richard suddenly noticed bloody tears streaming from the girl's eyes in the Dark Vision.

"Remember what I said about the price of using this ability? Alright, give me a cloth to blindfold me." Libs' tone was light, showing no sign of pain, as she simply closed her eyes: "Your target is in the car ahead of us, hurry up."

"To hell with it." Richard immediately took off his own bra strap, which was made of soft, skin-friendly silk—perfect for the occasion. After tearing off the right width, Richard tried to fasten it for the girl.

"You don't need to worry about that, but since you're helping, please take off my straw sandals before giving them to me." Libus took the strip of cloth and blindfolded herself, while simultaneously lifting her shoes as high as possible: "They are relics from our ancestors hundreds of years ago."

The young man awkwardly took off his clothes, handed them to her, and watched as Libus stuffed them back into the storage bag.

"Let's go."

"Wait, Richard, I haven't put my riding boots back on yet. Carrying me like this... hey? Hey hey?"

"Your Highness, quickly take it off." The front carriage, which was originally the servants' carriage, was now crowded with His Highness the Crown Prince, two close attendants, and the original three servants.

They exchanged clothes, and the attendant gave the unfortunate scapegoats his final instructions: "When you go out later, crawl close to the ground, and only get up to attract attention after you've gotten some distance away from this car, understand?"

The other two readily accepted the order, but the servant who replaced the crown prince trembled uncontrollably.

"It's your honor, you idiot!" The attendant kicked the scapegoat to the ground, and in doing so, kicked open the carriage door. As the servants scrambled out, a strange phantom appeared outside the door, which then solidified into a man and a woman.

A handsome spellcaster in military uniform held a barefoot, veiled girl in his arms. The girl's eyes were not visible, but her face revealed her to be beautiful, and her arms were tightly wrapped around the young man's neck.

What's going on?

Everyone inside the carriage was stunned. The quickest-reacting attendant drew his sword and pointed it at the two men.

Although Richard was somewhat displeased that a knife was pointed at him and Libs, he quickly introduced himself: "Richard von Dahlberg, Colonel of the Second Marine Corps of the Imperial Army, here to protect Your Highness."

The girl in his arms also spoke: "Princess Libus Maria Crocker of Bomia is pleased to see Your Highness, though I cannot see you."

While Libs was trash-talking, Richard used [Mage's Hand] to pull out the medal that Hench had given him: "This is a token that Richard Hench gave me, saying that you will believe our intentions after seeing it."

Despite holding a knife, the attendant watched helplessly as the medal floated to the prince's feet. The crown prince tremblingly accepted it, confirming by the moonlight that he had recently awarded it to the young meritorious official.

"Henry mentioned you; so you're from the Dahlberg family." The Crown Prince, regaining his composure slightly, remembered the key point and quickly replied, "Good, good!"

The attendant was still unconvinced: "How can you prove you were protecting His Highness and not kidnapping him?"

Libs couldn't help but unleash a torrent of abuse, speaking rapidly and even slipping into a Bohemian accent: "It's come to this, what can you do about it? My friend here is a spellcaster!"

Richard didn't mind; they were too conspicuous standing outside the carriage. He simply carried the lady inside, leaving the guards helpless. Richard explained, "One of you will move the horses, and I will hold up a shield for this carriage to help His Highness escape. Where we go is up to His Highness."

The attendant looked at the Crown Prince, who nodded: "To the palace."

The Blue Light Barrier also has its limits. Richard could only abandon the idea of complete protection and only protect a portion of the crew. He held Libs tightly, and the Crown Prince himself was also included in the shield.

The attendant driving the carriage signaled to the other carriages, and before the drivers could escape or be hit, they spurred their horses, and the caravan started moving again. The appearance of the scapegoat only made the situation more chaotic.

Just as the carriage was about to rush into the street and escape the danger, a missile pierced through the carriage. It was stopped by a barrier. However, the overflowing blue light revealed the carriage's unique nature.

Instantly, many attackers changed targets, and Richard abandoned his defensive stance, taking a deep breath. Like a dragon's breath, pillars of fire erupted from the carriage, overturning many horses and spellcasters.

The crown prince gripped his left arm tightly with his right hand, and looking back through the charred tear, he saw people in similar uniforms fighting each other.
