Chapter 62 I Want to See His Majesty the King
Chapter 62 I Want to See His Majesty the King
"Would you be willing to be my companion?"
The resurrected stag god Dryaz did not look at Rorschach, but stared at the beetle resting on his finger.
"You ask me what I'm doing?" Rorschach found it amusing, but the laughter aggravated his injury. He already saw this displayed on his control panel:
[Deryaz Forest (Red)] "Magic Control (Orange)" "Activation (Blue)" "Resurrection (Blue)" "Reflection (Blue)" "Divine Favor (Forest God)"
A small note: The homeland of the forest god can only summon a corner of its phantom.
This divine spell is fully unlocked, and the requirement for blood has been removed; I am now blessed by the gods.
Rorschach thought for a moment, then looked up to observe the other person again: "As far as I know, the god of the forest is Sylvanas. Who exactly are you?"
“I am more familiar with her feminine name—Sylvia,” Dryaz explained calmly. “She is one of the progenitors of the elves, and after ascending to godhood, she ruled over fields and forests, and was on good terms with me and the moon goddess. Later, you should have seen her descendants.”
Hill? Sylvia? The obvious connection was made clear by the stag-headed god.
He continued speaking, his voice echoing through the cave: "I am merely a person who constantly cultivates with reverence for nature and the forest. In the past, many followed my path, using my name to maintain the balance of the forest and uphold the harmony of nature. However, my path perished with my death, leaving only two or three spells for exorcists to use."
The deer-like eyes continued to stare at the beetle, its intricate patterns remaining unexplained. After a long silence, it softly declared to Rorschach, "There are no more druids in this world. If you have no interest in them, so be it."
"You've been dead for so long, don't be so pessimistic!" Luo Xia didn't know if the other person was sad, but he tried to comfort him anyway.
As for becoming a follower, what a joke! The environmental worker is a bottomless pit; it's better to stay a mage.
"To be honest, I am definitely not an environmentalist. No matter how big the forest is, it can't support the current population of tens of millions. The gathering of civilizations always consumes resources, and the process of development and utilization inevitably damages the environment. When civilization develops to a certain level and everyone is well-fed, perhaps more people will be willing to follow you again."
Dryaz nodded: "It's good that you've been honest with me. Please do me one last thing: take it to the right place."
The towering figure shattered and dissipated, transforming into specks of blue light. Most of it disappeared into the beetle, where it was once again encased in amber. The rest merged into Rorschach and Ina's bodies, and the boy felt his pain greatly lessen, and his energy was restored considerably.
Whether it was intentional on Dryaz's part or a consequence of overusing his spell, Ina remained asleep. Rorschach draped her right arm over his shoulder and helped Ina walk step by step toward the cave camp where they were taking refuge.
"Rorschach! Rorschach!" The leader rushed to greet Rorschach as he emerged from the depths of the cave. "What happened to Ina? Is she seriously injured?"
Luo Xia shook his head: "Ina just overdrawn her ether; there shouldn't be any major problems. What about the others?"
Rorschach noticed that the dense forest was empty, with only red light constantly reflecting off the trees. No one was maintaining it; the forest under the divine spell continued to exist, light streaming through the broken cave ceiling.
Perhaps this plane won't be barren anymore in the future.
"A teleportation array?"
Nemo helped Rorschach lift Ina's left arm, and the three of them walked side by side toward the activated teleportation array: "The main plane has opened the teleportation channel, let's hurry up and go. I don't know why the archmages are lasting so long this time."
On the other end, Cano was drenched in sweat, veins bulging on the side of his head: "For Aether's sake, either Nemo and that kid come back, or get Unit 3 fixed! I can't hold on any longer!"
"Teacher Kano, are you maintaining the magic circle all by yourself? How much gentian violet did you drink?" A familiar voice and figure appeared together.
"Is nobody here?"
"No!" *Snap*, the magic circle stopped, and the laboratory was instantly filled with a frenzied dance of ether and static electricity.
"This old man's bones are worn out... Come on, come on, try it on. Since it's Nemo and Rorschach, forget it. This mage Ina is unconscious, right? No need, no need." Cano waved his hand, shooing away the apprentice who was eagerly holding the paper bag.
He looked at Luo Xia, whose clothes were tattered like Ina's, covered in red with orange dust, and dark red patches of blood.
After a moment of silence, Archmage Cano solemnly said to Rorschach, "I'm sorry." He patted Rorschach on the shoulder, "Go change your clothes first. The treatment room is on the fourth floor. Get some rest."
Luo Xia waved his hand to indicate that he was fine and walked out of the laboratory.
In the research building's corridor, a man with a paper bag over his head struggled desperately, trying to shake off the apprentices escorting him. His shouts could be heard throughout the entire first floor through the bag: "I want to see His Majesty the King! I want to see His Majesty the King! I have important matters to report!"
At the door, Granor frowned as he watched the man being escorted out. He glanced at the representative appointed by the king, but the representative's attention was drawn to something else:
The sound of orderly hooves rang out, four tall horses moving in perfect unison. They must have come from the north of the continent, and what was even more precious was their pure brown coat, without a single stray hair. In the sunlight, their fur and the gold ornaments on the carriage glittered together, and the coat of arms proclaimed to the onlookers that another royal carriage had arrived.
If those four horses were white, it would mean that the king of the kingdom was personally present in the carriage, but in this case, it must also be an extremely distinguished person.
He strode to the carriage, and as it came to a stop, a young man alighted, followed by an even younger and more distinguished entourage. It was the Finance Minister! A rising star in the court, rivaling the Prime Minister! Behind him, the King's representative recognized him as Varang, now the Finance Minister's aide.
"Lord Necker, what brings you here?" The king's representative was the chief of guards' man, but he now had to bow to the powerful lord.
Necker didn't stop, continuing to walk towards the research building while responding: "I just happened to be on business on Country Avenue, so I thought I'd drop by and see what's going on." Valon behind him didn't respond either, brushing past the bowing representative, the young man's marble-sculpted chin just level with the latter's eyebrows.
The man whose hood had been removed became even more excited upon seeing Necker, shouting as if he wanted everyone on Country Street to hear: "Lord Necker! Lord Necker has arrived!"
"Who is this?"
Granor recognized the madman's face; excluding his own students, he figured he must be an apprentice from a noble family.
Sure enough, the man excitedly ran up to Necker and stammered, "Lord Necker, please be sure to tell His Majesty the Great King that I, Gabe de Cloti, the second son of Marquis Picardy, have discovered a gold mine in His Majesty's territory!"
Successfully drawing everyone's attention, he pulled out something the size of a fist from his robe and held it up with both hands.
Everyone, including Rorschach who had gone up to the second floor, could see it clearly through the window: Clotilde was holding a piece of gold that was pitted and twisted, but still shone brightly.
Sorry for the lateness. I got up at 7 o'clock to draw, and even after finishing the PFD, I still haven't updated until now. I will definitely update on time tonight!
Furthermore, the content of this book does not represent the author's views. I believe that environmental engineering, as well as all professions, are of great significance to society. The so-called "dead-end profession" is a narrow and biased label. In reality, the author has always cherished the environment, supported the construction of ecological civilization, and adhered to the concept of green and sustainable development. I believe that environmental engineering will surely shine brightly and have a promising future today as energy conservation, emission reduction, and dual-carbon goals are steadily advancing!
I'm off to eat now. Thanks for reading, fellow readers!
