Chapter 97 Birth

Decades of uncontrolled pollution and infiltration have reached a critical point. The intensification and rapid spread of forest mutations are proof that the struggle between two forces and two wills has reached a fever pitch.

However, one side is the sealed essence that has seeped into the real world, while the other side is the lingering thoughts and remains of a dead god, a symbol of separation.

If Rorschach were to comment, if they could be personified, both of them could sit in priority seats on a bus. Of course, even if both are incomplete beings, what is happening here and now is a battle of gods.

Interrupting Peterson's ceremony only ensured that Mother Earth would not continue to infiltrate the world and could not escalate the power struggle, but it did not mean the end of the matter.

The nodules at the base of the towering tree began to soften, turning into a viscous substance like crude oil gushing from the ground, constantly bubbling and emitting a colorful oil film.

The oil film ruptured, and a horrifying, shapeless, dark green monstrous larvae spewed out, hurtling towards the group. Before the investigation team could even get close to the tree, they saw hundreds of disgusting slime-like creatures struggling and relentlessly attacking them.

This time, the monsters were much larger than those that had crawled out of the tumors before. When blue fireflies fell, the turbid liquid on their bodies burst open, and new individuals emerged from them.

"Are they evolving?"

Each new individual that emerges is smaller, but at the cost of this, the newborn has more defined limbs, faster speed, and greater tolerance to fireflies, until the blue spiritual flames cover its entire body, causing it to burst and emerge as the next individual.

The apprentice kept throwing out [Colorful Balls], which were effective at first, but later the monster could resist acid corrosion, ordinary hail and fire.

Humboldt and Coubert were preparing a large-scale spell, and in an instant, a huge storm cloud enveloped the clearing, at the edge of the giant tree canopy.

At first, Archmage Kober also tried to summon thorny vines to restrict the monsters' movements, but the vines were quickly contaminated by the oil film, then withered and mutated into bared, tentacle-like thorns that lashed out towards the sky.

"They're fucking difficult to deal with. You'd better not get any filth on yourselves!"

Therefore, Rorschach did not dare to overextend himself with his mage's might; he simply swept his scorching rays across the monsters, quickly dividing and evaporating the filthy pus.

Thus, the monsters in front of Rorschach exhibited a different evolutionary path than those in front of the others—the other newly born monsters became increasingly agile and resembled ferocious carnivores, while the monsters that Rorschach attacked slowly reverted to their state just after leaving the mother fluid, like wriggling slimes, so that the rays that penetrated or swept through them would immediately cause them to surge and heal.

"I have more tricks up my sleeve!" He fired water bullets one after another, and then used the [Freezing Ray].

After the sludge-like monsters reorganized their bodies, large chunks of ice were contained within them. As they writhed, the ice was continuously crushed into ice crystals that pierced their flowing flesh, causing immense damage. Some of the ice crystals shattered, but the new ones could not withstand the damage and continued to break apart. Others were able to withstand the damage, but their speed was slowed down by the cold and freezing temperatures.

Cavendish activated [Thunder Wave], and lightning flashed across the dark green slime mass, causing it to explode.

Before the thunder arrived came a massive bolt of lightning that seemed to pierce the heavens and earth; of course, at close range, the arrival of the two was not noticeably sequential. The deafening roar caused everyone to instinctively cover their ears. At that moment, Master Humboldt used the [Communication] spell to warn: "Everyone, do not move! Do not take a step!"

After the lightning ended, all the monsters exploded, leaving behind pools of scorched mud on the ground.

Although some distance from the massive lightning strike, some people were still impacted—Cavendish tried to smooth his afro, muttering to himself, "Was it my [Thunderwave] that attracted lightning from nature?"

The apprentice of the Forest Tower suppressed a laugh, pointed at Humboldt and Archmage Kober, and then pointed to the sky: the huge thunderstorm just now was of course the work of the two archmages. At this moment, dark thunderclouds summoned by them were hovering in the sky, but they were not obvious under the eternal night.

Next, Kober unleashed a blizzard, deliberately engulfing the fireflies spreading from the canopy of the towering tree, and densely raining down ice, snow, and blue specks of light. The scorched monster sludge on the entire earth was ignited with ghostly flames.

The monsters had all been dealt with, but Rorschach didn't think it was over, because the chaotic winds of magic were still blowing and getting stronger.

Mother Earth changed her strategy, accelerating the erosion of the giant tree's roots and base. New growths bulged, expanding and contracting rhythmically as if breathing, growing larger with each bulge until they were the same size as the cross-section of the giant tree.

The baby's cry erupted, its volume no less than thunder, piercing everyone's eardrums and making everyone's brain tremble.

For all animals that need to reproduce, the cries of the young are a warning, a command for adults to pay attention to the young. In the divine wailing, everyone temporarily loses the ability to cast spells and act, and can only painfully watch the process of the great being's birth.

Suddenly, a mature woman's voice rang in Rorschach's ears—it was Dryaz!

"I need to borrow your strength for a moment. Do not panic. I will use my blessing to protect everyone as I fight the villain."

The surrounding forest and the leaves of the towering trees trembled together, and then the huge shriek that everyone had heard during the beast tide rang out again, but this time it was of great help: everyone successfully broke free from the cries of the baby.

Alexander von Humboldt's oak staff paused, and the silent domain expanded once more, shielding everyone from disturbing sounds. The staff slipped from his hand and transformed once more into an oak tree flowing with golden and green light, like a miniature version of the colossal tree.

Archmage Kober channeled all the accumulated charge within the storm cloud, lashing it against the vesicles that were breeding filth, leaving charred marks. He continued to drive, while mycelium constantly sprouted from him, creating new clones that also wielded lightning to attack the vesicles.

Finally, the walls of the vesicle were scarred and began to seep out a clear, yellowish-green liquid. As a sign, the crack continued to widen, and a fleshy body with a huge head, eyes, mouth, and rudimentary limbs fell to the ground, still connected to the corroded part of the giant tree at its center.

An embryo, a purplish-red embryo the size of a sperm whale, arrived in this world prematurely. It was not yet fully differentiated and was still in a form close to the starting point of life for all vertebrates.

The corpses in the "desolation", the embryos born from "reproduction", the shells and bastards of Dryaz's power being maliciously distorted and induced under the imbalance.

Seemingly sensing danger, the corrupting power began to accelerate its erosion, and the umbilical cord massively transported the life essence and power plundered from the giant tree, which was then pumped into the embryo by the mother.

All the attacks intensified, sensing the immense foreboding emanating from the strange life form before them. But the spells striking the embryo only inflicted pain, lacking any real damage. Its eyes, shrouded in a murky membrane, convulsed and trembled wildly within their sockets, its body writhing helplessly in the earth.

When I went to Rorschach, I suddenly felt as if I had been hollowed out. A spasm like that of an embryo descended upon my entire body. He and the magic around him were uncontrollably transformed into fireflies, forming a phantom of the Holy Spirit—Dryaz.

He embraced the concept of desolation, drifting to the center directly opposite the towering tree, where all the blue light was swiftly drawn away, transforming into the physical form of Delyuaz. He finally withdrew his power.

The giant tree, having lost its blue light, was corroded at an accelerated rate. The eroded trunk, losing its support, turned into a massive pool of pus that crashed down upon the crowd like a tidal wave.

The sacred tree that had supported this land for thousands of years was thus divided between Delyuaz and Mother Earth.

You deer-headed monster, you liar!

There will be one more update tonight, and I will give my thanks after the third update!
