Simultaneous Transmigration: From Douluo Continent to the Pinnacle
Chapter 324 The Inclusive Leaf Village
Laughter and cheerful conversation filled the air inside a top-rated barbecue restaurant in Konoha.
The charcoal crackled in the oven, oil dripped onto the embers, and wisps of white smoke rose, filling the space with an enticing aroma of meat.
The restaurant was packed and bustling with activity.
Konoha ninjas, merchants, and civilians, along with guests from Kirigakure and Sunagakure, sat in small groups around tables, clinking glasses and chatting merrily.
Since the relationship between Konoha and the other major ninja villages improved, this barbecue restaurant has become increasingly popular and is almost always packed every night.
On one side of the long table, Kakashi, Might Guy, Itachi Uchiha, and a group of Jonin raised their glasses and chatted.
Kakashi remained as languid as ever, his face half-covered by a mask, a cup of sake in his hand, his gaze lingering through the window at the brightly lit streets outside, a hint of wistfulness in his voice:
"It's unbelievable... Konoha has become like this in just a few years."
Matt Kay sat across from him, having just gulped down a large mouthful of juice. He insisted that alcohol would impair his physical performance, so he never drank.
He put down the cup, slammed his hand on the table, and said loudly:
"This is the power of youth! Under Lord You's leadership, the flame of youth in Konoha is burning brightly!"
Kakashi's eardrums hurt from the sudden increase in volume, and he instinctively moved to the side, giving him a helpless look.
"Kai, keep your voice down..."
Itachi Uchiha sat to the side, a gentle smile playing on his lips. He didn't drink alcohol, but instead held a cup of tea, took a small sip, and slowly spoke: "Indeed. The changes over the years have far exceeded all of our expectations. From the increasingly weak stance towards other major powers during the Third Hokage's era, to now being the strongest ninja in the world in terms of overall strength—even surpassing the peak strength of the First Hokage and Madara Uchiha when they founded the village."
The atmosphere at the table became slightly tense when this topic was brought up.
The people present were all people who had lived through that era. They had witnessed firsthand Konoha's decline and internal strife after the Third Hokage's reign, its diligent governance and sweeping reforms under Uchiha Yo, and its current status as a dominant force in the ninja world. Only they themselves truly knew the hardships and difficulties they had endured along the way.
"To be honest, I used to think that although Lord Yao was very strong, he was still young and might not have enough experience in governing the village." The speaker was another Jonin. He was holding a wine glass, his face was slightly red, and he was obviously a little drunk. "At that time, I also thought that although Konoha was strong in general, it was still lacking in foundation compared to the First Hokage and Uchiha Madara's time."
"But now..." He shook his head and chuckled self-deprecatingly, "I witnessed the Chunin Rebellion with my own eyes. Lord You and Lady Tsunade joined forces to suppress the First Hokage and Lord Madara—those were the legendary God of Shinobi and the Asura of the Shinobi World! After that battle, I truly realized that Lord You's strength was far more unfathomable than we had ever seen."
"And have you noticed?" another Jonin chimed in, "Lord Yao doesn't seem to have much interest in power. He focuses more of his energy on development—economic development, education, scientific research, and diplomacy. What he seems to want is to bring peace to more people, rather than simply seizing power."
Kakashi nodded, a thoughtful look in his eyes: "That's precisely what makes him so terrifying. Only someone with absolute strength, yet not blinded by the lust for power, can go far."
"Speaking of this..." Matt Kai suddenly pointed to a table not far away, "Look over there."
Following his gaze, everyone saw a blue-skinned, fierce-looking man engrossed in eating skewers at the table. His eating manners were far from elegant, even somewhat rough, but his movements carried a serious air about them.
Kisame Hoshigaki.
A former rogue ninja from Kirigakure, an S-rank criminal, now a team leader in Konoha.
"Who would have thought?" Kakashi sighed softly. "Even someone like Kisame, under Lord You's guidance, could become a diligent and conscientious team leader. A few years ago, who would have believed that?"
"Yes." Itachi Uchiha's gaze lingered on Kisame for a moment, a complex look flashing in his eyes. He and Kisame had been partners, and he knew the man's inner struggles and pain. Now, seeing him able to integrate into Konoha and live a peaceful life, he couldn't help but feel happy for him.
The group fell silent for a moment, their hearts filled with sorrow. They recalled the frequent wars of Hiruzen Sarutobi's era, the comrades who had sacrificed their lives, and the turmoil and unrest that had gripped the ninja world. But now, peace had finally arrived—not a peace of compromise, not a peace bought with concessions, but a peace won through sheer strength.
"Long live the Hokage!" Someone shouted first.
"Long live the Hokage!" Everyone raised their glasses and echoed in unison.
The younger generation of ninjas at the other table found it hard to understand the sentiments of the older generation. They hadn't experienced those war-torn years, nor the cruelty of the Ninja World Wars. To them, the peace and prosperity of today seemed like a given.
Naruto Uzumaki sat in the center of the table, surrounded by a pile of grilled meat skewers and drinks. Unlike the lonely boy in the original story who needed to use various pranks to get attention, this Naruto lived a very comfortable life, protected by his father Minato Namikaze and mother Kushina Uzumaki. A bright smile always graced his face, and his blue eyes sparkled with the confidence and warmth nurtured by love.
He took a bite of his kebab and mumbled, "Dad taught me a new ninjutsu yesterday, it's super powerful! I definitely have to show it off to Sasuke next time!"
Sitting opposite him, Sasuke Uchiha crossed his arms, raised an eyebrow, and snorted coldly, "Hmph, you? You should work on the stability of your Rasengan first. Last time you trained, you blew yourself up and left looking like a mess."
Naruto's face flushed red when he was touched on a sore spot: "Th-that was just an accident! I was training perfectly fine!"
"Oh? Is that so?" Sasuke picked up his drink, took a slow sip, and had a teasing smile on his lips.
Naruto stomped his feet in anger, but then something occurred to him. He suddenly stood up, pointed at Sasuke, and shouted, "Sasuke! Because of those guys messing things up during the Chunin Exams, we didn't get a proper match! Next time—next time I'll definitely beat you in front of everyone!"
Sasuke put down his cup, looked up at Naruto's burning fighting spirit, and a slight, arrogant smile appeared on his lips: "Alright. I'll be waiting."
Their gazes met in mid-air, as if sparks of invisible fire were about to fly.
Gaara, sitting next to Naruto, quietly watched this scene. A plate of skewers sat before him, but he ate very little, spending most of his time silently observing those around him. His gaze lingered on Naruto and Sasuke for a moment, then swept over the laughing and chatting crowd in the shop, a complex expression flashing in his eyes.
He had lived for a long time amidst the hatred of the villagers of Sunagakure. From childhood to adulthood, all he had ever felt was fear, disgust, and rejection. The way those villagers looked at him was as if they were looking at a monster that might go berserk at any moment. He had wondered countless times—if he could easily slap those people to death, why did they dare to show their discontent in front of him?
Later he understood. Those people knew he was a jinchūriki, the village's "weapon," a strictly controlled entity. They knew he wouldn't kill indiscriminately. Therefore, they acted with impunity.
But in Konoha, everything was different.
When he first arrived in Konoha, he felt somewhat out of place. He discovered that the definition of "Jinchūriki" at Konoha's Ninja Academy was completely different from that of Sunagakure. Here, Jinchūriki were regarded as heroes who protected the village, not feared monsters. Although the people around him knew he was a Jinchūriki, they mostly looked at him as an outsider, and the pure hatred they once felt was gone.
Of course, he occasionally encountered some strange looks. But those guys only dared to glance at him briefly before quickly lowering their heads, not daring to look any longer. At first, Gaara didn't understand why. Until he noticed that patrolmen in groups of three to five, carrying silver short sticks, often passed by on the street. Once, he personally witnessed a guy who was gossiping and complaining about "why so many outsiders are allowed into the village" being apprehended on the spot by the patrolmen and given a "loving education" with sticks.
At that time, Gaara felt that this was nothing more than oppressive governance, just like what he had encountered in Sunagakure. The so-called "strongest Konoha" was nothing more than this.
But later, he encountered some different people and things.
One day, as he was strolling down the street, an elderly woman with white hair called out to him. She smiled and offered him a piece of candy, saying, "Young man, you look unfamiliar. You must have just arrived from Sunagakure? Don't be shy. This is Konoha; everyone here is family. Try this candy; it's sweet."
Gaara was stunned. He took the candy, watched the old woman's hunched back slowly disappear into the distance, then looked down at the simply wrapped candy in his palm and remained silent for a long time.
Another time, he was resting under a tree by the training field when several children ran over. One of them, a little girl with pigtails, timidly approached him, took a cookie out of her pocket, and offered it to him: "Big brother... are you unhappy? Here, have a cookie, it's delicious."
Gaara looked into the little girl's clear eyes, and something seemed to gently touch a hard spot in his heart.
He took the cookie and said softly, "...Thank you."
Gradually, Gaara has come to regard Konoha as his second home.
Although he was unwilling to admit it verbally, his actions had already betrayed his true feelings.
He began to try to communicate with the people around him, started going out for ramen with Naruto and Sasuke after training, and started strolling around Konoha's shopping street in his spare time.
Kankuro looked at his younger brother, who had changed from his former violent ways, and finally felt a great weight lifted from his heart. Sometimes he thought that if Sunagakure had treated Jinchuriki the way Konoha had, perhaps Gaara wouldn't have become that bloodthirsty demon. He was even more gratified to learn that Temari had been chosen as the next Kazekage of Sunagakure. At least, the three siblings had found their own paths and futures.
The new generation of ninja from Sunagakure and Kirigakure forged new bonds at this barbecue restaurant. Some of them came to Konoha through exchange programs, while others were there as members of a joint team on a mission. At first, they were a little reserved, but after a few drinks and some barbecue, they started talking. They chatted about their respective villages, their experiences, and their aspirations for the future.
The hatred that was once caused by war seems to be melting away little by little in this atmosphere of everyday life.
Under the shade of the trees outside the barbecue restaurant, a tall, slender figure stood quietly.
He wore a long black overcoat, and his face was exactly the same as Sasuke's, who was arguing with Naruto inside the store, but he was more mature and more aloof. His gaze pierced through the bright window as he looked at the bustling scene inside the store, a complex and unfathomable emotion flashing in his eyes.
He is Uchiha Sasuke from another time and space.
Uchiha Yao quietly walked up behind him, followed his gaze into the shop, and then slowly spoke in a gentle voice: "Why don't you come in and sit down? Let's all get together."
He didn't turn around, but simply shook his head slightly, his voice low and calm: "No need."
Uchiha Yao didn't insist, but simply stood beside him, also gazing at the warm scene inside the shop. After a moment, he suddenly spoke, his tone slightly teasing: "You know what? You and I are actually quite alike."
Parallel Sasuke turned his head slightly and glanced at him.
"They're both sensitive people. They care a lot, but pretend they don't. They want to be a part of it, but they're always afraid of parting, so they simply don't let themselves get close from the start." Uchiha Yao's voice was soft, yet it seemed to carry a power that saw through people's hearts. "You can't bear to leave, right?"
Parallel Sasuke remained silent for a moment, without denying it. His gaze, through the window, fell on "himself," who was arguing with Naruto. That carefree boy had loving parents, friends he could bicker with, trustworthy companions, and a bright future.
And what about him? His world was filled with betrayal, hatred, and killing. His hands were stained with blood. In his heart lay wounds that could never heal.
"...That's wonderful." He murmured to himself, a hint of undisguised envy in his voice. "No blood feuds, no fratricide, no dark past. Everyone is fighting for lasting peace, and everyone has something worth protecting."
He paused, his voice growing even deeper: "This is the life I've always dreamed of."
Uchiha Yao didn't reply, but just stood quietly beside him.
After a while, Uchiha Yao spoke up: "The Dragon Vein is about to be activated."
Parallel Sasuke nodded: "I know. I should go back."
"I'll go with you."
Sasuke paused slightly, then turned to look at Uchiha Yao, a hint of surprise flashing in his eyes: "You... want to come with me?"
Uchiha Yao nodded, his gaze calm and resolute: "There are still many problems to be solved in your world. Since I have the ability, I cannot sit idly by. Moreover—" a slight smile curved his lips, "I also want to see what the ninja world of another world is like."
Parallel Sasuke was silent for a moment, then slowly nodded, recalling the guy who had come to this world with him and could be considered his partner.
Hozuki Suigetsu has become a registered ninja in Konoha, possessing a certain social status, and is preparing to revitalize the Hozuki clan, which migrated from the Land of Water.
Meanwhile, Jugo from his own world and Kimimaro from this world became good friends, and the two often trained together.
And then there's Karen Uzumaki, who's a bit timid, a bit afraid of death, but sometimes very brave, who joined the Konoha Barrier Team and the Medical Department.
They also found their childhood selves in this world, as well as their parallel world mother who survived because of Konoha's rescue plan for the entire Uzumaki clan in the ninja world.
It can be said that Suigetsu, Jugo, and Karin have all found their own place and no longer need to join him in adventures.
Even though he was worried about his old friends, Sasuke still made up his mind.
He wants to return to his own world to resolve the remaining issues.
"I'll come back after I've finished taking care of things."
Uchiha Yao smiled slightly:
"Then it's settled."
The two exchanged a glance, then turned around simultaneously and quickly disappeared into the night.
Inside the barbecue restaurant, Kakashi paused slightly as he held his wine glass.
His gaze drifted almost imperceptibly to the empty shade of the trees outside the window, then returned to his own, as if he hadn't noticed anything.
Uchiha Itachi also turned his head slightly, his gaze lingering for a moment on the night outside the window, before picking up his teacup again and taking a small sip.
Neither of them spoke, but instead pretended to be nonchalant and continued the casual conversation at the table.
As night deepened, the laughter and chatter inside the barbecue restaurant continued.
