Chapter 182 The Message from the Demon Sword

"Tell me, what kind of help can you offer me?" Alphonse asked calmly.

"I am very sharp, capable of cutting through any weapon and cleaving through any matter for you," the demonic sword spirit replied weakly. After a moment's hesitation, it added, "Except for some divine artifacts."

"So you're saying it can cut through iron like mud? Then there's no point in keeping your sword spirit." Alphonse curled his lip. It's the blade that's sharp, not the sword spirit.

"No! I can also cut through space and kill enemies hidden in the crevices of space! Only when I am still alive can I use the Space Slash!" The demonic sword spirit hurriedly defended itself.

Spatial Slash?

Are you the reincarnation of Kuwabara? Or the reincarnation of Sukuna?

In the manga, spatial slashes don't seem to be very high-level skills. Okuyasu Nijimura from JoJo's Bizarre Adventure has them, but they are particularly outstanding in Taiju Kaisen, where he cuts Satoru 2.5 and Shikado Shiuncho.

The formless sword energy that breaks through the body is designed to attack by tearing through space, and has a similar effect, so this one seems to be dispensable.

Alphonse curled his lip again.

"That's not that strong, and I don't use a sword."

"The sword is just one form of me. I can also transform into other weapons. As long as you want, I can become a battle axe, a spear, or any weapon you need! And I can amplify your attacks!" the demonic sword spirit hurriedly explained.

"Would boxing gloves work too?" Alphonse pondered, stroking his chin with one hand. Before the sword spirit of the magic sword could answer, he continued, "But I don't need to engage in close combat."

"Even if you turn me into a staff, I can still amplify your magic!" The demonic sword spirit was truly terrified. After being trapped for over a thousand years, it encountered a formidable opponent as soon as it was freed, who could absorb its remaining power without restraint and even damage its very soul.

"Want to try on some boxing gloves?" Alphonse was intrigued.

The demonic sword immediately began to writhe, slowly disintegrating like flowing mud.

But it only flowed for a moment before returning to its original state.

"?" Alphonse was taken aback. "Why hasn't it changed?"

"My power is almost drained by you, and I can't sustain the transformation anymore," the demonic sword replied in a complicated tone.

Alphonse had no choice but to release some necromantic energy and infuse it into the sword.

"Your power is strange. It's neither battle aura nor magic, and it's similar to the power of my race, yet not quite."

The demonic sword muttered to itself, but still changed, beginning to flow again, instantly splitting into two dark lumps that wrapped around Alphonse's hands.

In the blink of an eye, Alphonse had a pair of black boxing gloves in his hands.

The part covering the palm is neither gold nor leather, but the part covering the fingers is metal with sharp claw tips.

"Don't have claws like that, the fingers should be showing," Alphonse suggested.

The demon sword silently made a change; now it became a fingerless gauntlet, with only a metal ring protecting the knuckles connected to the hand.

Alphonse looked at it and felt fairly satisfied; the boxing gloves were very thin and wouldn't affect any movement.

I just don't understand how such a long sword could turn into two gauntlets; it doesn't conform to the law of conservation of matter at all.

Unable to figure it out, Alphonse simply stopped thinking about it and once gave an order.

"Let's go back to normal."

The gauntlet began to writhe again, and in an instant it transformed back into a jet-black longsword.

"Where is this place?" Alphonse asked.

"A cave," the Demon Sword answered without hesitation.

"What's the name of this cave? It must have a name, right?" Alphonse pressed again.

"How would I know what it's called?" the Demon Sword replied helplessly. "All I know is that it's a cave inhabited by a magical beast in the Bakuram Plains."

If it had hands, it would be spreading them out to express its emotions.

In which country is the Bakulam Plain located?

"Let me think, it seems to be Kandahar, yes! That's it!"

Alphonse was somewhat stunned. He had heard Tessie and Mia talk about the distribution of countries on the continent, but the name of the country mentioned by the Demon Sword was one he had never heard of before.

However, the demon sword has been sealed for thousands of years, so it's possible that Kandahar has already been destroyed and its name has changed.

Why were you sealed here?

"I am the sword of Balsamo, the king of the Doguru tribe's turmoil. He was killed by the dragons, and since I am indestructible, the dragons sealed me here," the demonic sword answered without any concealment.

It's the demons again!

Speaking of demons, Alphonse felt a lot of displeasure.

If it weren't for the inexplicable appearance of the demons, I wouldn't have ended up in this cave living like a wild man.

"In which country do dragons exist? Are they no longer seen in the world?" Alphonse asked uncertainly.

"Did they go extinct?" The Demon Sword was taken aback. "Impossible. How could those giant lizards go extinct so easily? They live in the sky, on the floating islands atop the legendary, near-eternal-life-long dragon, the Celestial Vein Dragon. The Celestial Vein Dragon uses magic to obscure its senses, and it never descends below the limit of its flight magic, making it very difficult to locate."

Dragons actually live in the sky?

This news was truly unexpected for Alphonse.

The Demon Sword continued its rambling, "Dragons have very poor fertility, so pure-blooded dragons are rare. But because they have long lifespans, they often find dragon life boring and thus transform into other races to experience their lives as a pastime."

"Then how do you explain this giant dragon?" Alphonse turned and pointed to the dragon's corpse at the cave entrance.

"Ah! The earth dragon Fiar! That idiot is finally dead!" The demon sword cackled. "Yeah, if it hadn't died, how could it have let you touch the seal!"

Alphonse then learned the dragon's name and asked in confusion, "Isn't it considered a dragon?"

"Earth dragons are merely a subspecies of dragons. How could such a hybrid creature be recognized by the proud dragon race? It's just that this fool is incredibly stupid, always considering himself a member of the dragon race, and even made a vow to stay here and guard my seal. In truth, it's just a pitiful hybrid and will never gain the dragon race's recognition. Its death is a good thing for it; it can finally break free from its constraints," the Demon Sword said nonchalantly.

At that moment, it also saw the shadowy dragon guarding the cave entrance.

Although Alphonse couldn't figure out where its eyes were, it did see them and laughed again.

"Hahaha! You actually bound its spirit, preventing it from resting in peace! Your behavior is quite in line with our Doguru tribe!"

A genius like you demons would be a perfect match!

You only have one sword, yet you consider yourself a demon?

Alphonse inwardly grumbled, realizing he wouldn't get much useful information from the demonic sword. He needed to see if there was any way to completely control it; if not, he'd have to destroy its sword spirit. (End of Chapter)
