"Father, don't beg him!"

"If we're going to die, we'll die together!"

The two priestesses, who were lying prostrate on the ground, screamed loudly.

Alphonse was speechless at the sight of this seemingly "filial piety" father and daughter.

Then why were you two running around before?

You're already ready to die. If I hadn't used my sword to control your pressure points, you would have escaped long ago.

He said irritably, "I won't kill you. There's no need for all this shouting. I came to Anle City just to find some supplies."

Sera immediately felt ashamed. If she hadn't used Alphonse and tricked him into coming to the City of Peace to replenish supplies, none of this would have happened.

But the fact that she was able to subdue the high priest of the Demon God Cult still brought her some joy.

Alphonse accomplished what his brother couldn't.

Alphonse's words shocked Hernot, his expression shifting repeatedly. "As members of the Doguru tribe, we have offended you. Shouldn't we be severely punished?"

"I'm not a demon, I'm human," Alphonse said directly.

"You're not a demon?" Hernot was taken aback.

Alphonse curled his lip. "I never said I was a demon."

Hernot was at a loss for words, his gaze fixed on the demonic sword that was flying towards him.

The person carrying the demon sword wasn't a demon, that...

The demonic sword took him as its master, so didn't it also become a traitor to the Doguru tribe?

"You really are insolent! As members of the Doguru race, you dare to use a Doguru Hell Knight as a summoned creature!" the Demon Sword interjected. "So, does that mean your Demon God Cult's claim of worshipping a demon god is a lie?"

Hernot did not answer the question, feeling only immense resentment. "Do you have the right to say that? You are not like us, you betrayed the Doguru tribe, and that's fine, but you even used the Doguru name to order that Hell Knight around. You're no better!"

He dared not utter these words in front of the Demon Sword.

He was ultimately reduced to a prisoner.

But Alphonse was human, which gave him a renewed hope of survival.

"Respected human powerhouse, I can provide you with as many supplies as you need, and I can even transfer the power to rule Anle City to you, if you wish, just please spare the lives of my family!"

Seeing Hernot's expression, Alphonse knew that the Demon Sword had guessed correctly.

It's truly ironic that the high priest of the Demon God Cult doesn't actually believe in the Demon God; his so-called faith is just a lie.

"I don't need to control the City of Peace. I'll be leaving Fantalia eventually anyway, so it doesn't mean anything to me. But I can have supplies."

Hernot was stunned. "You have a way to leave Fantalia?"

"Didn't you say that once we defeat that Cassobia, we can leave?" Alphonse asked.

"That's impossible!" Hernot declared confidently. "The Lord of the Barriers is invincible! For a thousand years, no one has been able to defeat him!"

"Since I can come, I can definitely leave, so that's none of your business," Alphonse said confidently.

It's just a dead soul; I believe it won't be a problem for me.

"Let's put that aside for now. You imprisoned this little fairy dragon, used her blood to create the Fountain of Life, and controlled the various races in the City of Peace. You won't have a good end! Do you think we can let you off the hook?" Sera shouted.

"That was Eneri's own choice! We did not imprison her!" a priestess immediately retorted.

Hernot continued, "It was indeed Eneri's own choice. I hatched her from a dragon egg, so she sees me as her father. I simply told her that her blood, mixed with water, could bring salvation to the half-demons of the City of Peace."

Before he could finish speaking, Sera interrupted him, "That's because you deceived her. You took advantage of her ignorance to consolidate your power! If you treated her like a daughter, why would you chain her to the top of the tower?"

"That chain buckle is to seal her magic. She is still in her infancy and cannot control her own power. If she doesn't wear that magic-sealing ring, she will go berserk and transform into a fairy dragon, causing harm to the City of Peace."

Hernott wasn't angry at being interrupted, and explained.

"Then, isn't it a fact that you used the Fountain of Life to enslave and control various races?" Sera was still angry. If it weren't for her brother receiving the favor of the Dark God, the entire Dark Elf race would have been controlled by the Demon God Cult.

"I admit that I did have selfish motives in this matter, but do you know how many half-demons were exiled to this land of the forsaken gods in the very beginning?" Hernot asked in return.

Sera paused for a moment, speechless. Hernot had really touched on a blind spot in her knowledge; she hadn't studied this matter in depth.

"I can tell you, there were over a hundred thousand," Hernot said frankly. "And now? Only tens of thousands remain. Did they die from this harsh environment? Or from the clutches of monsters?"

As he spoke, he revealed a mocking smile, "None of that. The greatest casualties came from internal strife! Although our ancestors were collectively called half-demons because they had been baptized by the demon race, they can be further divided into various races. It is common for conflicts and frictions to occur due to the struggle for resources and interests."

My ancestors established the City of Peace and founded the Cult of the Demon God, but a mere ethereal faith cannot unite all races. The Fountain of Life, however, gave us hope for peace. It is because of the dedication of Eneri and her mother that the various races living in Fantalia can coexist harmoniously. At least, in the City of Peace, all races can live together peacefully.

Even though we have been supported by various races and have gained many benefits from power, it is what we deserve. We have given various races a peaceful space to survive and reproduce. If it were you dark elves, could you have done better than our Demon God Cult? Do you think your brother Sharibel, who has taken my place, can manage the City of Peace well?"

"No matter what, it shouldn't be your reason to make them addicted to the Fountain of Life and control them!" Sera still felt something was wrong.

"Without the Fountain of Life, all races will revert to a state of chaos and disorder. Many dark races, such as the two-headed trolls, lizardmen, and werewolves, possess an extreme bloodlust. Unlike the gray dwarves, and even you dark elves and our ghost race, they cannot control themselves to some extent. This is a side effect of their demonic baptism, inherited and unchangeable. Only the Fountain of Life can bring them peace of mind. I don't believe our actions have been wrong!" Hernot stated bluntly. (End of Chapter)
